An interesting mix of magic, teen romance, betrayal and power mongering.
Sammie has magic and isn’t coping so well with controlling it, after a few tragic disasters she’s starting her third high school.
Brendon is sent to guard her against the enemy surrounding her family.
There’s story arcs that are reminiscent of Vampire Diaries and a minor similarity to Harry Potter but has a vibe all its own.
Witty banter, family dynamics, budding romance and betrayal and revenge. A great start to a new series and can’t wait for the next book.

This was a first for me by this author. Absolutely loved it. Sammie Flowers has just found out her lineage and a necklace that may contain more than she can handle but it her destiny. Will she wait until she’s 28 to take all that’s coming to her? Or will she make the ultimate sacrifice to life the cures.

I love this book, and the characters so much. I can not wait for the second one to see what happens. I was shocked with the twists thrown in but absolutely loved them. Can't wait to see what happens next for Sammie.

Sammie flowers is a witch coming of age. She needs to learn her magic. She wants to fine herself and her family secrets. Brandon seems to o take a liking to Sammie and protect her. Magic and supernatural are a mix in this book. Can’t wait to see what happens next .

I will always enjoy Mina Skye's books, this one being no exception.
Sammie Flowers is a witch, just coming into her powers. I loved seeing her process and thoughts as she came to learn more about herself and her family and what she's truly capable of. Sammie is a spitfire character that goes from being expelled from several schools to a powerful witch that learns more about herself than before.
Brendon was a lovely character as well, and I loved his and Sammie's dynamics, their banter. His wanting to protect her even though they barely knew each other.
I feel like Vexed is a big mix of Harry Potter and The Vampire Diaries, mixing both the supernatural creatures and lore from both, and I love it.
I really enjoyed Vexed and I cannot wait for Vigilant!

Mina is a new to me author and I was intrigued by this book's blurb. The storyline is very engaging and intriguing. It had a lot of supernatural elements like The Vampire Diaries meets Sabrina and Harry Potter kind of situation.
I like the characters and their development, however the book has some inconsistencies that got me confused, information that reveals later on is already known by the characters prior to the "revelation". Also, I think the timeline lapses didn't help building the potential love story between the MCs.
This series has a lot of potential and I'm really intrigued for what is next!

I really enjoyed reading this book, I loved getting to know the characters and seeing how Sammie handles her powers, and watching her grow with them. I love the banter between her and Brendon who has been sent to protect her. This is a book that can be enjoyed by readers of a variety of ages. I can't wait to see more of Sammies story and how things turn out! I would most definitely recommend this book to other readers!
