From the very beginning of Term one, I fell in love with this series. The characters, the world, the plot, all combined in that strange alchemy of the written word to produce a story that is greater than any of its individual elements.
Now, we’ve come to Term 4, it’s the final term at Fate Hollow, there’s a war on the horizon and the series is ending. It’s a little bittersweet. Wren, her mates, their friends and the supernatural community deserve peace and prosperity. I want them to have their HEA. But, over these last three terms, all of the characters have burrowed into my mind and my heart and I don’t want to say goodbye. But say goodbye we must. So, here is my final review.
First, I am thrilled that Wren and her mates got the HEA. After all the trials and tribulations, they deserve a rest. From the very first page, Wren reached out and stole my heart. Her sweetness, her caring and consideration, the way she still had empathy for others was remarkable. Her character’s growth, over the last four books is remarkable. She became a strong confident woman, who is comfortable with herself, her skills, and her ability handle her mates.
As always the guys are great. Rowan, Damien, Lachlan, Kian, Alistair, Rhett and Thorn are supportive of Wren, even when they want to wrap her in cotton and lock her in a room. They’re all so different and bring different things to the relationship. Although, Damien will always be my favourite possessive stalker.
Lyra does a great job of wrapping everything up from a plot point of view. All the bad guys were vanquished, with each of Wren’s mates having a different role to play in their success. I really liked how they all played to their strengths taking on different roles and aspects of the battles.
Surprisingly, I found there was too many spicy scenes (not something I ever thought I’d say). Not that they weren’t hot because they were but sometimes, they almost felt like filler, and didn’t enhance the story the way. But, it didn’t detract from it either, thankfully.
Overall, this was a great book and fantastic way to end the series.
