Does Sam Wick always get his man? This mission has surprise consequences.
What I love about Chase Austin’s writing is his unique style that makes you want to keep reading. The spacing and pacing draws you and you are not overwhelmed by too many words on a page. Others may disagree but this compels me to read just a little bit more and a little bit more and I find myself on a fast track with a compelling story. Typically, his novels are short and to the point with an air of completion. However, this time (although a stand-alone novella) I wanted a bit more. You really are led to wonder just what is going on in Sam Wick’s head? Perhaps this is all intentional so that the reader would also need to ask themselves, what would you have done in the same situation?” Well, he is certainly a mystery man not only to us but to the other people he works with. On second thought, maybe it still deserves five stars? Upon immediate conclusion, I just felt the need for more explanation. So, I’ll just leave it with 4.5* and my sincere recommendation.
P.S., Chase told me that what I wanted to know will be revealed in the next of series which I am looking forward to reading.
I received an arc and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Chase Austin's Sam Wick in Deadly Force. Sam's up to his normal duties. In Iran to kidnap a cleric. Everything is planned right down to, No mistakes. Well, even direct orders demand this cleric be gathered in alive, Sam kills him. Now, official inquiries abound. Sam's tenure in TF-77 is jeopardized. I love reading the Sam Wick TF-77 series, and you will too! Lots of action. Well worth reading. I fully endorse this book for your reading pleasure. Nessie
This is without a doubt the best of Sam Wick. Mr. Austin has introduced a few twists that felt more like to tracks dropped out of the roller-coaster. If you have been following the Sam Wick stories, don’t miss this episode. If you are new to Sam, this story definitely can be read as a stand-alone and will most likely result in reading the previous stories. I received an Advance Reader Copy and chose to provide this review.
Sam Wick is accurate, amoral, efficient, deadly. He does what is necessary to get the job done, no more, no less. He is not a person you would want to meet. That his kind is necessary does not speak well for our world.
The story is told in the third person from Sam’s point of view. Planning is one thing but the ability to think on your feet and go with the flow when matters don’t go as planned is vital. The text is badly in need of a further edit.
Sam Wick is one of the best and is known for bringing his mission to a successful conclusion. Not this time. So what went wrong? Wick seems to have a reason, but doesn’t share it with us, or anyone. Ultimately he is not terminated and is given another hard mission. Hopefully we will learn what is going on with Sam. Strongly recommend you try these trillers if you like fast passed action.
These just keep getting better and better. The meticulous planning, the careful execution of the mission, and just enough of a hint of Wick's thinking to make you hold your breath while you race through the words to keep up with him and his team. I'm still waiting for movies or a TV series.
This is the 5th book I've read written by Chase Austin; he has done a great job at writing a good book; I will definitely be reading more of his books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.
I loved the characters.
I received a free copy of this book via booksprout and I’m voluntarily leaving a review.
Deadly Force: A Sam Wick's Explosive Thriller is the second book in the Task Force-77 Thriller series.
Sam Wick dives into danger in Iran in this fast-paced, action-packed, explosive thriller. Sam's deviation from the plan gets him in hot water with the U.S. government, but you know that Sam thinks on his feet and does whatever needs to be done.
I cannot wait to read the next book in this exciting series. I read and reviewed this book with no obligation.
ONE MIND BLOWING ADVENTURE!!! Holy hell! Chase is kicking ass and taking names with this fast paced, action packed, hard hitting, nailbiting, spine tingling, block buster, blasting this bad boy to life brilliantly. Bracing the drama, intrigue, turmoil, danger and suspense, blasting this baby into the eye of the storm with stunning impacts. Disbursing incredibly, well rounded scenario's so intense you feel the pulse racing, electrifying hum running rampant through your veins. Chase displays every scheme, close call, snag, trip, dip, mishap and mayhem, calling the shots, riding roughshod with such unbridled gusto, mixing it up, propelling this bad boy to whole new level. The characters are authentic and realistic with depth and qualities that balance and blend transforming into amazing personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and colorful descriptions so rich and lively, they blend and flow magnificently. Remarkable job Chase, thanks for sharing this jewel with us.
Sam has a sick feeling in his gut from the beginning on this mission. The last time he felt even close to this bad about a mission Sam had assured that a suicide mission had a higher likelihood of success and a comparable expected outcome. Sam was of course right.
In the end, Sam acts as he feels is right and accepts that there will likely be consequences
Surviving this mission and debrief likely would mean his next mission may be even more difficult
What prices is Sam willing to pay? To what end?
Intense action that leaves you wondering what next?
Sam Wick is like a candle burning. The wick connects the wax to the flame to keep burning. The candle wax only melts near the flame and mostly burns bad guys unless something goes wrong. Which it always will. Only one bullet. It did not miss. The light from the flame is weak, but teaches around the world and reflects the terror and turmoil of danger and denial. Sam walks away again.
Sam Wick is contacted by the NSA director to rescue a captured CIA agent by suspected Taliban agents when the CIA doesn't want to bother doing. So, against his better judgement, he decides to do the possible rescue but only if Eddie, his preferred marksman, accompanies him on the mission. Against the odds against them, Sam and Eddie begin their mission.
Fasten your seatbelts because it's going to be one Hell of a ride that is difficult to put down!
Sam Wick is a special operative that is sent out when no one else can do the job. Usually he is all business, but this time he isn’t feeling his usual confidence for this op. When a young boy with a bomb shows up unexpectedly, he aborts the mission and goes to plan B. Something about young kids being involved in such ugly situations changes his focus and he acts on his feelings. Great read.
This is an intense story that has the reader from page one to the very end. Wick prefers to work alone but often has to have a crew. The characters are great and keep the interest and entertainment at a high pace. There is a small problem in the results of this op but he does what he feels he should do and pay the consequences afterward. He survives and lives on to do another mission.
As usual, the book was very difficult to put down. I am a big fan of the Sam Wick series. I thought the ending was rather strange with this book but I have no doubt all will become clear in the fullness of time. A big thank you to the author Chase Austin and from me stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Sam gets a case in Iran where he is instructed to capture a cleric but things don't go to plan. This is a very short book which leads into the next one in the series so be prepared to read on. The book it's self is similar to the rest of the Task Force -77 books.
Chase Austin keeps you wanting more. You are trapped in the chronicals of Sam Wick wanting more adventures. Each book leads you on to find out more about Sam Wick. Excitement and adventure on every page.
Another author that does not know the difference between a clip and a magazine. I am sure that the makers of Glock weapons are only too happy to know that their magazine weapons are now reduced to using clips per this author.
A story with intense action that doesn't go according to plan. Sam Wick is able to adjust and make things work, or does it. I am looking forward to more from Task Force-77.
This is slightly different from others in the Sam Wick universe as Sam comes under scrutiny for not following orders to the letter. But it hasn't diminished the thrill even a bit.
A Sam Wick Universe Thriller, shows leader of the US Government's covert TF-77 team, Sam Wick on a mission that seems doomed to failure before he can even get himself on a plane to rendezvous with Olivia, Elijah and Logan at their Iranian safe house.
After a brief call to his boss, William Helms, Wick finalises the mission details and names their terrorist-linked target. When things go sideways, Wick and the team change to plan B - which leads to a surprising confession and intel from the villain - and an over-reaction from Wick, that may have drastic results for his career with TF-77.
It's almost a Mission Impossible for Wick, who's tried to do the right thing by his team and his country and satisfy his personal sense of justice, only to be put in an unenviable position at HQ.

Sam is on another mission he wanted to do alone but ended up with his team of 3...and it was a good thing. The mission was compromised. He spotted the child right away and watched his actions; something was off. He aborted the mission and was running away from the convention center when the bomb detonated. What do you do? Go to plan B; however, there's a twist thrown in. Will they make it out alive? Will the target? Will there be another mission??
