Northern Rejects #1

Rock Hard Reject: An MF Dystopian Shifter Romance

Rate this book
Erin

Cheating husband? Check. Messy divorce? Check. My life is complicated, and the only positive is my thriving trucking business. But I’m glad my husband’s leaving—because I’ve never been able to forget Stone, the boy who broke my heart when we were stupid teenagers.

He’s single now too. The problem? My life might be complicated, but his is downright dangerous.

When the local biker gang attacks me for speaking out against their illicit trafficking activity, Stone demands I stay on his ranch for my protection. But what really needs protecting is my heart.

Stone

I don’t know what it says about me that I’ve been rejected twice. First by my mate, and then by almost my entire pack. But I don’t miss them like I probably should—and nowhere near as much as I miss Erin. Unfortunately, I screwed up my only chance with her when we were just teenagers.

When she’s attacked, it sends my protective instinct into overdrive. Turns out having her living in my home is harder than I thought it’d be, because there’s nothing I won’t do for a second chance with the woman my body sings for.

ROCK HARD REJECT is the first book in the Northern Rejects series. It features a grumpy rancher trying to right past wrongs and mend two broken hearts in the same go.

Really enjoyed this one although there were so many baffling plot holes that I ended up knocking off a couple stars. God save me from the "I know we're in danger and a crazy person wants to kill us but lets go for a cell-phone free drive by ourselves!" trope.

Fury's alpha compound books were always a little hit-or-miss for me. I loved Mal and Carmen but DNFed Pen's book. Near the end of the series it started to get a little convoluted. The omega's powers basically took away a lot of the risk and it started to feel like you were just waiting for the appropriate omega to show up and that solved whatever the problem was.

That's why I'm so happy that this next series has started off strong! Stone was such an interesting character. And being (mostly) away from the magical omegas has returned the stakes and the drama. Stone and Erin have a great dynamic and trying to figure out what the bad guy's were up to was really intriguing. Ok, now for the plot holes.

SPOLIERs:
the author still seems to have trouble balancing stakes. They spend so much time trying to figure out how to kill/defeat Declan when one of the omega's can literally kill him basically by looking at him (and almost does early in the story). It kind of makes all the running around and planning seem a little ridiculous and convoluted.

Declan is fixated on getting Erin's truck for his nefarious deeds but like... just get another truck? He has high enough contacts that no one in the police or government will touch him but he can't finagle a 16 wheeler? He tries 3 times to get her truck and has a lot of his plans on hold until he gets it? It was so strange to read.... By the 3rd time I was ready to send him a craigslist ad so he can get on with it.

Fingers crossed that this doesn't keep up and we can get back to some high stakes like we had in the first few books.

One thing I will say is that (without giving away a plot point) it is very very obvious that the author is not Canadian and not familiar with the structure of government here. The book club and I literally laughed out loud when a certain high ranking bad guy was revealed

This was my first venture into omegaverse, and as much as I love the shifter genre, this one just did not flow with me. I didn't really understand any of the omegaverse customs or 'rules' as they're so different from the standard shifter romances I'm accustomed to. Since this was also a spin-off series, I felt lost with the previous characters and events that are alluded to in this series. Overall, this wasn't a bad book, just not for me.

Audio book
The narration is top notch. The voice acting matches the characters so well

My favorite things are the pegging and the interesting dynamics of pack living. I love Anna’s take on omega verse. But the pack dynamics for me was one of the most intriguing parts of the book. I can’t wait to see what other couples we get out of this story.

RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
STEAM: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

So..everyone knows I am a Mitchell Bancroft fan. I will ride or die with that fictional man as my book husband until the end of time. But ever since Stone came into the picture? I am been hungry for a fictional sandwich between these two pack alphas.

This series kicks off after the events of the Alpha Compound Series. Stone is trying to rebuild, especially after Mitchell's pack has left and some of his leadership has bailed. He definitely has a lot on his plate, and now he has to add dealing with Erin and the attraction he has suppressed for the town mayor.

Erin also has her own baggage to deal with. Not only does managing a town keep her busy, but she found her husband in flagrante with someone else. When her political responsibilities become dangerous, she has to lean on Stone to keep her safe. Without her marriage as a buffer, she has no obstacles getting in the way of reconnecting with Stone.

So this book has a lot going on. In addition to recapping relevant details from the previous series, it also introduces us to the new set of characters AND tells Stone and Erin's story. But Anna Fury does a great job of not overwhelming readers in one go and providing just enough context.

Now let's get to the main characters. Stone had my attention when he was first introduced in this fictional universe. He's assertive but respectful, domineering but gentle. Obviously, a leader like him needs someone who is strong, and Erin fits that role to a T. There is this wonderful balance between her and Stone, and I really enjoyed going through the arc of their relationship.

It is an Anna Fury read, so you definitely get a nice mix of suspense, action, romance, and spice. If you are a veteran read of Fury's work, I do not need to tell you to be prepared with lots of water and extra underwear. If you're new, welcome and have at least 64 oz. of hydration with you.

This was a fantastic kickoff to this new series, and I cannot wait for the other books. It can definitely be read as a standalone, but while you are waiting for the other books to be released, I would definitely recommend picking up The Alpha Compound series.

** I am voluntarily reviewing an advance copy of this book. Thank you to Anna Fury for providing an ARC. **

Just when I didn't think I could love Anna's Fury's alphas more, Stone sauntered straight into my fantasies!
Stone and Erin were childhood sweethearts, until he makes a terrible choice that drives a rift between them. Something so bad there is no coming back from it. Or can they? Fast forward, after being rejected as pack alpha by his original pack, Stone is working to form new bonds and a new pack when his old flame literally lands in his lap. Chased there by a rival pack that is causing nothing but trouble.
Can they mend the rift between them and fine true happiness?

This book has everything. Second chance romance. Action. Danger. Plenty of heart stopping and panty melting scenes. And TOYS!
Rock Hard Rejects sets the stage for her spin off Alpha Compound series and I can't wait for more!

When Anna Fury writes, I read. It's just that easy and her follow up series to the Alpha Compound books is off to a great start.

📚 𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲: Second Chance romance, Omegaverse romance

📖 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘀: Stone is the alpha of a pack in a small Canadian town. He's been rejected by his former leadership, then left by his mate, so he no longer trusts his instincts. But he knows deep down Erin is his. When his old flame finds herself in trouble, he can't help himself but come to the rescue.

🌟 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄: I've been waiting for this book since she announced it this spring, and I wasn't disappointed.

Stone and Erin were a heck of a kickoff to the new series. They were all power struggles and passion and gorgeous alpha-ness. The spice was top notch, especially with Erin and her domme tendencies.

The book also set up the underlying storyline that will take us through this series, and it was super interesting. I'm so ready!

On top of all of that, I love the world Anna Fury has built. Her unique take on the Omegaverse and the way she builds packs makes me want to beg her for more. I can't wait to see where this group builds to in the future. The hints she laid down about the next couples are making me gitty with excitement.

Though it's built as a series to stand alone, I would highly highly recommend you read the Alpha Compound Series first. Not only is it an incredible series, but it gives you valuable backstory on Stone that helps this story along.

🔮 𝗙𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘀𝘆 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝗲: Easy. Anna Fury builds worlds and explains them with ease. The pack structure is easy to follow.

𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: 4.5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐

𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: 4/5 🌶🌶🌶🌶

Rock Hard Reject by Anna Fury is a dystopian shifter romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Sebastian York and Shammen McCune. This is the first book in the Northern Rejects series.

I really enjoyed the relationship between Stone and Erin. It was messy but you couldn't help but root for them. I liked that we got both of their points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

I can't wait to dive into the next book in the series Heartless Heathen so I can get Titan & Luna's story.

Sebastian and Shammen did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this book if you're looking for a dystopian romance, shifter romance, omegaverse romance, or romantic suspense.

Make sure to shoo your family out of the room and have some water at the ready for this high steam omegaverse read! If you weren't into dominant men before now, this book will for sure change your mind. Anna Fury has a way of writing heroes that make me wish alphas actually existed in the real world, even though the world she has created shows how much struggle these men go through to be accepted. This book is a spin-off from the original Alpha Compound series, taking place after Mitchell's pack has left Stone's home, and now Stone is building up his own pack. You don't have to read the first series to enjoy this one, though I will say it's great to see the worldbuilding in that first series. It puts this series into perspective and helps the reader truly understand what the alphas and omegas are dealing with on a regular basis and how it got to this point.

Stone messed up in high school with the only girl he has ever loved, betraying her out of fear and stupidity, and he's been pining ever since. Desperate to get over her, he tried mating once, and after going through a devastating rejection of that bond by his mate, he has sworn off trying again. There is only one omega for him - Erin Grant, the mayor of his town and a married woman. When she makes a delivery to his pack's general store, holding back tears, he learns her marriage is not a happy one and divorce is imminent. When she is attacked by a neighboring pack not long after, he rushes to her rescue and vows to keep her safe. Now they are in close quarters, with no marriage or mate to keep them apart, and their love and lust for each other burns brighter than ever. Erin is determined to show Stone how much she still loves him, and Stone is determined not to let her get away again.

While I wouldn't normally be rooting for a hero who formerly cheated on the heroine, I have to say no one deserves a second chance more than Stone. Having grown so much since that long ago night when he made the worst mistake of his life, he has been paying for it, and he has become the protector of so many people. Dominant but with a soft side for the omegas in his care, he genuinely wants happiness for them and will do whatever he can to make sure they have what they need to get there. His instinctive protectiveness towards Erin endeared him to me almost immediately, especially when they both had to restrain themselves from doing what they longed to do. Stone had so much respect for Erin, and it was clear she loved him too much to cause him pain by starting something she would have to leave. Thankfully, her husband was an absolute a-hole, to put it nicely, and he was not an obstacle for long. That's when the steam started, and oh boy, I was not prepared. We have some fan favorite tropes - second chance, nurse back to health, forced proximity - yes please to all three. And the best part was that Erin could hold her own when Stone went alpha on her. In fact, in the bedroom, he was not the only dominant one and some kinky times occurred that made my glasses fog up...metaphorically. She was the perfect match for him, and his pack was the icing on the cake. I loved them all, and I immediately wanted to read more about their individual stories.

I can't wait to see where this series takes us! You'll know who it is fairly quickly in the book, and based on the sneak peak we get at the end of the book, it is going to be even steamier than Rock Hard Reject. Bring it on!

🔥 “Mine. Always have been. Always will be.”
~~~
We met Stone in the Alpha Compound series. At first he appeared to be quite the alphahole (but, oh, we just love ‘em alphaholey, don’t we) but there is so much more to him than meets the eye. Stone is an alpha - strong, dangerous and domineering, but he’s also fiercely protective of his people and cares deeply for all of them. And he’s suffered so much rejection. Despite everything, he’s working hard to form new bonds and a new pack. Stone is one phenomenal male and I absolutely adored everything about him!
Erin is absolutely amazing! She’s so kind, nice and compassionate. As the mayor of Ayas and the owner of a trucking business, she makes sure all her people are protected and taken care of. Even more, she’s so brave and has a backbone of steel, not afraid to stand up for the people she cares about and face any dangers and hardships thrown her way. I loved her so, so much!
I loved everything that happened between Erin and Stone. They were high school sweethearts but Stone’s actions tore them apart. Twenty years later, they’re still pining for each other but both have a lot on their plates. After Erin’s marriage falls apart and Ayas is having trouble with one of the packs, she has to rely on Stone to keep her safe. And both soon discover the old flames are far from gone… I just loved those two together! Not only do they have a spectacular chemistry and work so well as a team, I loved how well they balanced each other. Erin and Stone were just perfect for each other and when they finally gave in to their undeniable need for one another, the spice was off-the-charts hot! I just loved all that alpha, growly, possessive, naughty and knotty goodness! And when Erin went all Domme on Stone’s… OH, BOY!
In addition, the storyline was fantastic! I adored every single person around Stone and Erin - the protective alphas, the sassy and fierce omegas, Stone’s mother. And the two rowdy teenagers and Erin’s best friend made everything so much fun! Those people have a lot of challenges to face ahead but united they can deal with everything! Even more, with Declan’s pack causing trouble, the danger and the unexpected discoveries, I was glued to the pages till the very end.
Overall, the story is a phenomenal start of the series and a spectacular second chance omegaverse romance! It’s filled with action, danger, suspense, drama, twists, violence, humor, blazing hot romance and spectacular characters.
I couldn’t put it down and absolutely loved every page of it!
A Dystopian Shifter Romance
Northern Rejects - Book One
Rock Hard Reject
Authour: Anna Fury
@annafuryauthor
"His chocolate eyes find mine as heat builds in my core. He sees me, everything about me, in a way nobody else ever has. He was this way even as a teenager. We were two people perpetually on the same wavelength about everything."
“We both know you belong to me. You’ve always belonged to me. And now I’m going to have you again.”
Finally! Stone gets his story and hopefully his happy ending. I have high hopes.
This story started off action-packed and it never stops which is what I love about the Dystopian Shifter roamcances by Anna. I thought I loved Stone in the compound series I was mistaken, because finally getting into his head as well as learning even more about his story was amazing. Plus I've been dying to learn more about Erin and her relationship with Stone. I’m quickly falling in love with all the new characters as well as a few I've met before. I can’t wait to see where this series will go with each of them.
Stone has been rejected by not only his mate but even his packmates and has a hard time letting people in because of it. Stone has been pining for Erin since high school but he screwed up and lost his only chance to have her.
Erin found out her husband for 15 years is cheating on her and now wants a divorce. Let's just say it gets pretty messy, but one bright side is it has Erin falling into Stones's arms, and his home and the chemistry they had as teenagers have not gone away it has only intensified their bond with each other. Because let me tell you the chemistry between these two is super hot.
Will Stone and Erin finally get the second chance they’ve both wanted for years or will the war that is coming get in their way?
Having read Anna's Alpha Compound series I was so excited to get the chance to check out an ALC of Rock Hard Reject. I loved getting to meet Stone & was thrilled to hear he and his new pack would be getting their own series! You definitely don't *need* to read the Alpha Compound series first however I would recommend checking those out to find out about the prior Declan drama & background on Mitchell's pack!
I am a sucker for a second chance romance & Stone has been waiting TWENTY years to finally get another chance with his first love Erin. When she finds herself in the middle of a messy divorce & the target of another Alpha (Declan), Erin turns to Stone & his pack for help.
Stone & Erin are the stars of the show but we also get great glimpses at some familiar faces being set up for their own HEAs as well as some newbies who had me cracking up. Stone is just one big snuggly Alpha who wants to finally claim his true mate but fears getting hurt again, while Erin is trying to balance her recently discovered place in the pack with keeping the town 'normies' safe from Declan's destruction. Once they finally come together, OH MAN. The tension, the steam - I mean we get Erin as a Domme Omega and also p*gging! The found family aspect here was awesome (especially as this series will feature Alphas who have been rejected in one way or another) & I can't wait to see it continue.
Seb Yo is one of my favorite narrators, he absolutely nailed the growly gruff tone of Alpha Stone here. Shammen was new to me but I greatly enjoyed her work here. Erin's one tough gal but her heart and her determination definitely came through via the narration.
No one writes an alpha quite like Anna Fury. She somehow finds the perfect balance between primal alpha and consent king. Stone is the perfect example! He is all big burly alpha, but also is supportive of his mate's position as mayor, honors her boundaries, AND stands 10 toes down for all of the Omegas in his pack--their safety and comfort are his biggest concerns.
I read this via audiobook and I gotta say, the narrators were honestly perfection. You can just picture a massive alpha when you hear Sebastian York's performance of Stone--I really couldn't have chosen a better narrator. Shammen McCune's performance of Erin was just as fitting. Her voice just feels authoritative and sultry, which is just what I imagine reading Erin's dialogue.
Overall, this was super suspenseful and hot!! Anna does not skimp on the steam! I found myself blushing several times--and I've read a ton of smut lol. Second chance is one of my favorite tropes, and it was executed so well in this story. The physical attraction never skipped a beat over the years, and the pining! Stone just couldn't replicate the way he felt about Erin with anyone else. They really had to learn how to approach the obstacles in their rekindled relationship head-on, and they were mature and communicative, which I appreciated.
I'm excited for Titan and Luna's story next, and I can't recommend picking up this series on audio enough!
Stone 🥹🖤🖤
Anna writes the hottest alphas hot damn. 🥵 I love this world and the characters shes created. I loved getting little glimpses of the alphas from the Compound series. Especially Samson 🥵🫠
I didn’t really love Stone when we first met him in the compound series. He just seemed like an asshole who only cared about his pack and nothing else. But he grew on me and now I’m obsessed. He deeply cares for everyone in his pack and has been through a lot of rejection and loss as he was finding his footing as an alpha. The brief glimpse of Erin in the last series was telling and I was rooting for her and Stone to end up together hehe… She is a strong, loving and caring character - she has to be shes a pack Omega duh. I loved how they came together and overcame everything in their way to finally be together after so long apart.
The side characters stories and the plot was kept me very on edge and engaged. I need to know more, I can’t wait to see how this packs story unravels and who ends up where and with who. The spice was on a whole other level ahhh - I love the dynamics between Erin & Stone - their spice is next level hot & they like to switch…. Thats all I’m saying hehe.
I am so excited to be back in this world and cannot wait to see how everything unravels and how this pack forms and bonds. So I’m excited for everything to come <3
Hot Freakin Damn!
Anna Fury not only knows how to create a world you get absolutely lost in but she can also write a fantasy Alpha!
And....
Stone is throwing off sooooo many fiercely protective and sexy AF alpha vibes and I'm so here for it ALL.
Stone first appeared in the Alpha Compound Series and I've been dying for his story ever since. Now that 'Rock Hard Reject' is here and I have devoured it I can definitely say the wait was worth every second.
I absolutely loved Stone and Erin, two soulmates who were clearly meant to find their way back to one another.
Stone and Erin share a past. They were childhood sweethearts who were deeply in love until one decision changed everything.
Now, years later.....
Can they forgive and forget?
Will the fear of rejection hold Stone back?
Or will these two finally get the HEA they deserve?
Stone and Erin's second chance / shifter romance story had everything. It was enthralling, action-packed, a little suspenseful, humorous, heart stealing and oh so STEAMY!!!!.
I loved the little inclusions of some old favourites and adored meeting some new characters who have me excited for what's to come.
I mean TITAN!!!! Oh how I need this man's story!! Did someone say grumpy teddy bear?? Yes please.
Rock Hard Reject is Book 1 in the new Northern Rejects series and I can not wait for more!
UNF 🥵
Anna goddamn Fury has done it again. I bloody love these broken alphas and omegas and it felt so good to be back with them. It was nice to have little cameos from our Compound pack as well!
I loved Stone in Mitchell’s book and couldn’t wait for him to get his own story. I love how much he cares and loves his pack, even after all the rejection he’s faced. You get a more detailed look at all of that in his story.
Erin was also a perfect match for him. She was sweet and kind but so freaking strong as well. I cannot wait to find out if she gets an omega power and what that might be!! Her and Stone together were delightful and I’m excited to see them lead the pack.
The spice was, of course, delectable as always!! (Honestly Anna’s version of Omegaverse is brilliant; the omegas still have some control over their actions when turned on.) I loved that Erin and Stone were both comfortable in their positions and sexuality to explore a little bit, and the pegging scene was so wonderfully written! I also loved that there was no shaming between the pack. Obviously they have sensitive hearing and all heard what was happening but it was just good-natured teasing, no kink-shaming here!
I am so beyond excited for the next books in the series! There’s just something about these characters that keeps me wanting more and I cannot wait for the sexual tension that is Titan/Luna!!
5 rock hard stars!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Anna has quickly become one of my favorite authors over the past year. She does omegaverse world and character building so well, and her spice is top knot!
Tropes:
🪢 Omegaverse
🪢Second Chance Romance
🪢Dom/Domme/Switches?
Review:
I have been looking forward to reading more about Stone since the Alpha Compound Series. In this book we learn more about Stone’s past and his unwavering strength even with what seems like countless rejection.
Stone had the woman of his dreams (Erin), and he fucked that up by being a dumb immature nitwit. Fast forward to after “The Awakening”, Stone finds himself in an intimate relationship with a sex toy, longing for the one that got away, and trying to rebuild his pack. But Erin and Stone’s paths have crossed again, and oh boy is it a delicious ride.
Their energy match is unparalleled in my opinion, and they are obviously meant to be together. The power exchange, the give and take, the “switch” that happens between them….sooooo yummy. Anna’s world and character development just keeps getting better and better, and I am here to enjoy it.
Bottom Line: Loved it, please read it, and I can’t fucking wait to see more of Luna!
Phew! Wow. This book. Hot hot hot. I love being back in Anna Fury's omegaverse. This is Stone's story. So many of the characters that we fans of the Compound Series were dying to know more about, are getting their books. And Stone's story is first up.
This alpha tries so hard to be a grumpy hard arse but really he is a cinnamonroll.
Erin compliments him so well. Boss babe to the max. This couple... some of the hottest love scenes I've read in a while (so if spice offends you... this isn't for you).
I love the rawness of the characters. They are so layered and you are swept into the story quickly, and completely mesmerised and invested.
If you've read the Compound Series I feel this pack has a more affectionate, family focused vibe because its smaller (though growing). An old threat is causing havoc and this pack is stepping into its own.
Full if possessive, hard arse, sweetheart alphaness I love, this book speaks to the compelling writing talents the writer. Cannot wait for the rest.
Dystopian Omegaverse. Spice. Humor. Complex characters. Interesting plot. Heavy topics. Strong alphas and strong omegas.
It takes great skill to combine these different elements and Anna Fury has done it once again, and of course in her signature “Queen of Slick” way.
I thoroughly enjoyed Stone and Erin’s book and their second chance romance. Love that this book features characters in their 30’s who have a past, but are so ready for their new journey together and overcoming all the obstacles that life has thrown at them.
It has amazingly vivid side characters in this newly found family, who will will feature in the upcoming books in this series.
I love Anna’s Alpha Compound series and this series is built off that. It’s not necessary to read the first series to enjoy this one, but it will enrich your experience as some characters make cameos.
Hop on the alpha bandwagon now, for more intrigue and all the spice.
What a wild ride!
Stone has been a favorite of mine since his entrance into the series and boy, his story did not disappoint. This Alpha is always looking out for his pack and he definitely deserved everything good to come to him after what he's gone through. Erin was a bit of a hard one to peg, haha, at the beginning. I wanted to feel for her, but at the same time I already had a prior connection with Stone,so it was hard to connect with her. She grew on me though and she is 100% the omega leader this pack needed. I loved meeting the Twins!! They were an unexpected, but wonderful addition to this book. Their lighthearted banter and teasing helped bring some light to some seriously crazy situations.
This book was non-stop action and craziness. Can't wait to see what is in store for the pack as it grows!
Anna Fury was my introduction into the Omegaverse world and I've been hooked ever since!
Rock Hard Rejects is an all-new series by Anna, that picks up where her Alpha Command series ended within this fabulous world she has created. New pack, New Alphas, New Omegas, but you get all the same deliciousness, with a peak at some old favorites!
The bond between Stone and Erin is strong and now that they have been given a second chance, the dynamics of their relationship are new and exciting! The chemistry between these two is off the charts and the Top/bottom switch is hot as fuck!
With tension rising between a rival pack, there's no lack of suspense. Add in all the amazing new side characters and you've got a riveting story that will keep you entertained until the very end and leave you wanting more!
I DNF'ed at 30% but I'm CLEARLY in the minority here. The author noted that it wasn't required to have read the series prior to this one to understand anything, but I think that's definitely untrue and is probably doing a disservice to this series. There isn't even a single page at the beginning to give the elevator pitch about what the virus is, why there are multiple alphas in the pack and why it's typically just 1:1 relationships, etc.
It was just a stark contrast from the "one big happy sexy pack" omegaverses I usually read, and then combined with the confusing/non-existent world building, it was a rough read for me. Maybe in the future I will try to read the prior series and then come back to this one with more understanding, because the reviews are certainly raving for those who seem to come in with more context than I did.
Rock Hard Reject is the first book of the Northern Rejects series and a spin-off of the Compound series by Anna Fury.
Stone is the alpha of one of the Canadian packs and the one that hosted Mitchell's pack from the Task Force and lost part of his pack because of it.
Erin is Stone's first love and the one that got away. She is the town's mayor and own a trucking business. Her life turns upside down when her marriage crumbles and Stone is the one there to help her, forcing both of them to acknowledge that their feelings for each other only got stronger.
This is an omegaverse romance in a dystopian future and, although it is a different series, the feeling of going back to these amazing characters and Anna's world warmed my heart and it felt like home, a very disturbing, fun and sexy home but a home nevertheless.
⭐️ 4.5
I was so excited to go back to the alpha compound world for this spin off series, and I'm happy to say that this book was just as good as that series! Anna Fury just knows how to create the perfect found family environment (I truly feel like it's one of her specialties). There are now so many couples I'm excited to read about, and cannot wait to see where this series goes.
I do wish there was more spice in this back (I felt like there were a lot of fade-to-black moments especially in comparison to Mitchell and Alice's story, but I understand that the first book in a series has a lot of development and world-building to do.
Overall, I did really enjoy Stone and Erin's second-chance romance, and CANNOT WAIT FOR TITAN AND LUNA.
Stone and Erin set this book on fire!
First of all, I've read ALL of Anna Fury's books. The entire series has been amazing and the premise is AMAZING. Her imagination is off the chains and the world she created is just blossoming in my mind! I want to move there so bad!
The backstory of the alpha keeps getting better and more complicated and I'm LIVING FOR IT!
Stone's history has always been heartbreaking for me and now it's even more so BUT he gets his HEA and that's what really matters. We only really meet Erin towards the end of the alpha compound series but she's a firecracker!
Speaking of explosives... I. Cannot. WAIT for Book 2. It's gonna be AMAZING! I can already tell!! I'm impatiently counting down the days.
This is the first book in a new series by Anna Fury, but it follows the events of her first series 'Alpha Compound'. You don't need to read that first but I'd highly recommend it! We met Stone and some of his pack in the first series so it's great to finally get to his story, and this instalment sets up some new characters/couples and storylines which I'm sure will take us through the next few books. I already have some thoughts about what might happen next!
I love Anna's writing - she always delivers a great balance of character development, plot and spice! And while each book ensures a HEA for every couple, they are not without their cliff-hangers which means you won't be able to wait before you pick up the next book.
Highly recommend.
more of this series please …
First of all, this is part of the previous alpha awakening series. There are many characters in play from the previous series . I read this book on the release date because the whole series is amazing. I needed to know more about the underlying alpha awakening saga and development of characters . Stone and Erin were also mentioned in previous stories so go read them to understand the drama with this two . Stone is coming from a place of pain and rejection from his mate and pack so he has some healing to do in this book. I cannot wait for the Cass , Julie, James story . But oh well, looks like Titan is next . Am here for it all.
