A charming alien. An adventurous female. An unexpected snowstorm... and only one bed. Benjar learned at an early age to use his wits to live and his charm to ease his path – and hide his secrets. Even the bond he forms with his military brothers doesn’t completely soothe his troubled soul. Inspired by his commander’s recent acquisition of a human bride, Benjar decides to find a mate for himself - a calm, nurturing woman who will bring peace to his restless spirit. Instead, he’s irresistibly drawn to a pretty, impetuous female. No one seems to realize that Ruby has grown up - neither her loving but overprotective older sister nor the men in their small town. But as anxious as she is to find love and adventure, being taken from her bed in the middle of the night by a huge, feline alien isn’t what she anticipated. Neither of them is who they expect. But when they’re stranded together in an isolated cabin, they might just discover they’ve both found exactly what they need. Each book in the Seven Brides series features a different couple and may be read as a standalone, but the books do link together. This sweet and steamy series is intended for mature readers.
I know, I know. Now I have deep-dived into alien romance. But this series is based on one of my absolute favorite musicals, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and I am always eager to expand my reading adventures.
Seven males, all from different races and all there for different reasons, but somehow they had formed a family.
Benjar is eager to find a human mate just like his new sister-in-law, Nelly. So he and a few of his brothers sneak into the nearby village and choose a few eligible women to bring home to their ranch. Of course, without the consent of any of these women who are all asleep at the time. It's problematic but I assure all skeptics that I couldn't help but swoon over Benjar.
When Ruby wakes up the next morning, she is shocked to learn she has been kidnapped by a member of the alien race. Unfortunately an avalanche now shuts the women off from the town and a fierce blizzaed keeps Ruby in Benjar's cabin alone. Although she attempts to escape and fails, soon Ruby cannot help but fall to the charms of Benjar.
I cannot resist the close proximity/one bed romance trope. This plot moved even faster than book 1 since B &R's storyline is based on a matter of days and Artek and Nelly were given weeks. At this point, it's safe to say I am a Honey Philips fan!
I forgot to mention in my review of book 1 that all books feature a different pairing and so theses books can be enjoyed as stand alones.
3.4 stars. I giggled a lot. It's a fun continuation on the first; however, it was really short and I only got to see a few of the other characters. For the most part, this book plays out in a small cabin which limits the story a bit.
While I could love the first one without reservations, this one has the hero kidnapping three women as brides for him and a couple of brothers. I was super excited that the heroine hit him over the head and escaped (bloodthirsty, much?), but saddened that the author shortened that part of the story. In the original Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, the women get under the wing of the first bride. It would have made this story much better if that had happened. Because she goes back and the rest of the book is set in the cabin, I get a little bit of squeamishness that this is a Stockholm Syndrome type falling in love rather than informed and enthusiastic consent.
The heroine is a young innocent 19-year old with an adventurous side that she's never had the chance to let out. The hero is older. I'm not sure how much older, but I'm going to think he's in his early 20s to make my mind feel less squeamish.
It's a shallow fun story that was quick to read... but it has room to improve.
However, I am still SUPER excited about the rest of the series and plan on reading them all. It's such a fun premise and a bunch of the brothers aren't involved in the kidnapping plot so I don't think I'll have as much of an issue with their stories.
Oh... I forgot to mention. I got an advanced reader copy... this book comes out on 9/1!
Benjar, you sweet cinnamon roll of an alien—I’d let you abduct me into a snowstormy love nest any day. This is my second read in the Seven Brides for Seven Alien Brothers series, and while Artek’s setting and slow build still win for overall vibe, Benjar’s romance with Ruby charmed me in fluffier, cheekier ways.
Yes, there’s a very problematic (and sleep-heavy) kidnapping setup inspired by a local folk tale. No, I wasn’t shocked—it’s that kind of alien romance. But once Ruby wakes up, tries to escape and then gets snowed in, the story shifts into sweet-and-smutty forced proximity goodness. Think: one bed, soft misunderstandings, different race and anatomy exploring for scientific research and Benjar being an adorably eager mate with golden retriever energy.
The plot moves faster than Artek’s, which kept things fun and steamy, but also a little shallow. I liked Benjar and Ruby a lot, but their connection didn’t hit quite as deep (yeah, I know it's a novella, but 10 pages more could have helped a lot). Still, it’s spicy, snowy, and silly in the best way—and every so often, that’s precisely what I need.
I was not expecting this book at all. I read book one and it was cute. Book 1 the slow courting of someone that was already romantically interested in is very different than what we have here.
Benjar and his band of brothers by choice are starting to feel very lonely. Their commander has found the love of his life. They always though as aliens in this planet that finding love would be impossible for them.
So they take matters into their own claws and get them so ladies. Benjar our MMC in this story is a mix of pink panther and Thor. To say that I am impressed in an understatement. I am so excited for their slow burn love story of forced proximity. This was an absolute treat.
Our FMC is strong confident and doesn’t cook which makes me pretty happy. Benjar cooks and loves on his woman until things get a tad escalated and we learn the type of woman he’s captured with his love.
I binged all 7 of these short stories. They are cute and nicely interwoven. 4-stars may be generous, but these have all the ingredients of a classic forced-proximity romance. In addition, all 7 aliens are very different in looks and features, as well as attitude and sexual preferences. Obviously there will be some similarities in the plots, as the all happen in parallel, but it is well done.
Everything was way too fast - the definition of insta-love - and in too short of a book. Still fun but I will likely forget that I've read it and won't be continuing with the series.
Well. Benjar and his brothers (not all of them, but several of them!) have come up with a plan to secure themselves brides and...it's honestly not the best plan ever. But it doesn't completely backfire on them (at least so far), so I guess it had some merit.
After spending time with Artek's new bride, the boys decide they're going to head into town and steal some of the lovely local ladies. Which is the not so great part of their plan. BUT...Benjar and his brothers in arms (I mean, I assume the others, although we haven't really had a chance to get to know them yet) are honorable aliens and they not only treat their ladies well, they're wise enough to listen to their instinct when it says one of them ticks all the boxes they didn't know they wanted in a bride.
What I'm trying to say is that Benjar thought he knew what he wanted, but they he laid eyes on Ruby and realized she made his heart go pitter patter way more then the lady he'd originally picked out. So he bride-napped her and they ended up snowed in ALONE and I LOVE WHEN THAT HAPPENS. Did I mention there's only one bed? Because there's only one bed. Yesssssss!
A group of lonely aliens, a lady who wants to be seen for who she is, a little exploratory fun, and more than a few steamy encounters. These aliens might not have come up with the best plan ever to find themselves brides, but it worked out for Benjar and Ruby in the end. *thumbs up*
Short, cute, and sweet. It was a little too surface level for me, but I still enjoyed it. I knew in Book 1 she would pair these 2. They were both young and extremely eager and affable. I need a little more tension in my romance, but with these being novella length I get that it is harder to develop that background. Definitely a fun series to pick up as a palate cleanser between longer reads 👍
2,5/5 Benjar was a living red flag almost the entire book… fortunately the FMC was a nice girl. I just didn’t enjoy this book as I enjoyed book 1. Trying book 3 to see if it gets better.
A cute version of a snowed in/nurse you back to health trope. I am not sure I totally bought the chemistry or progression from like to love, but a good entry in the series
I thought this was a fun read. In book 1 the hero asks a human woman to marry him. She agrees. So his army brothers want to find happiness too.
They decide to go to the Harvest Dance and find women and kidnap them. Then they set off an avalanche with some explosives so the snow will block the mountain pass and nobody can rescue the women. Their plan is to court the women and then they'll fall in love and not want to leave when spring comes.
Hero's bride wakes up from the drug he gaves her and is very upset. She hits hero on the head with a frying pan and runs away. Into a blizzard. Hero finds her but gets injured. She has to help him get better since they are stuck in his cabin by themselves.
They fall in love (hero is always respectful of her boundaries and never forces her, except for the original kidnapping).
We see glimpses of the other brothers and their intended brides in this book too so I'm eager to read the next books.
This is erotica. It reads like: the author came up with a good idea for a story, wrote detailed sex scenes for it, and decided to publish it without developing it further. I was hoping the writing would get better as the series continued, but it hasn't happened so far. Without the storyline of 7 Brides for 7 Brothers to lean on, the plot would be non-existent. Benjar is supposed to be cat-like, yet the narrator clearly states that his pupils are horizontal. Umm, what? How did no one catch that before putting it out into the world? I thought, maybe it's part of the author's version of an alien cat person. I tried to zoom in, on the horrid cover art, to see if it had horizontal pupils, but it's too blurry. They look more like little dots. If the next book ends up getting audio, I'll probably listen to it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it'll get better.
The soft and squishy, cinnamon roll-y type SFR I’ve been in the mood for….you know, except for the drugging and kidnapping.
Does it delve deeply enough into the ramifications of the actual drugging and kidnapping? Nope. Not that type of book and while that sounds not great, the characters feel innocent in their intentions. Yeah not the best but easy enough for me to look past but definitely a YMMV type of situation. Also I assume that will come up further into the series. Anyhoozitz, I liked it and I can’t wait to read Callum’s book.
This is a no thinking, quick, easy, mildly entertaining alien romance. Authors often portray aliens as immature or dumb to add to their alien-ness/doing things differently than humans would and this book leans a bit too hard on that, but Benjar mostly comes across as a loveable idiot. As with the first one not a ton happens. I’m not loving the ‘I need a chef so let me marry someone’ angle or the fact that all of the other romances are starting at this same exact moment/storm. It’s weird to have the first book be it’s own thing and then everyoneee else finds their mate during this one storm…🤷🏼♀️ Anyway, for me I think this series is going to be a good thing to read when I can’t think of what else to read.
I love Benjar. What a sweetheart! There is an innocence and vulnerability to him that makes him impossible to resist. Ruby seems, at first, to be a spoiled selfish little girl but she is so much more. That's all I'm going to say about them except to say Honey Phillips writes real people..Alien or not. The story is rich in flavor and the world build is amazing. I have very much enjoyed the story of the second brother getting his wife! I honestly can't wait for Callum and Pearl's story! I truly love this 7 Brides series.
I liked the first book a lot, but this one was a miss. I don't like reading about feline-like heroes, and kidnapping plotlines are rarely done in a way that I can be okay with, even in a silly romance.
But the main reason that this didn't work for me was the lack of relationship development between the two main characters. It was sweet sometimes, but it was very instalove and their relationship seemed more physical than emotional.
Benjar is such a softie. He carries past hurts of rejection that only Ruby can heal. Ruby is stronger than she looks and more adventurous too. Together they will heal, grow, and explore. Some of my fave tropes include; stretching, tail play, tight fit, nursing back to health, virgin bride and possessiveness.
I didn’t enjoy this one as much as the first one. Again, the smut scenes just weren’t good. It almost felt like I was receiving the sparknotes version. I would’ve rather had more angst and one really well-written scene than the little tiny ones that didn’t add much depth to their relationship.
Very cute. Benjar’s personality is really fun and sweet. I loved the moments of vulnerability we got from him. This was a fun read, but I liked book one more.
Just like the first story (and the third), I also enjoyed this story, it was a sweet and steamy novella. I would really recommend that you start with the first book because although each story is about a different couple, the storyline continues throughout each book. At the end of the first book, we discovered that some of Artek’s brothers had made a plan to find their own mates. This story’s about Benjar, the youngest alien brother.
Benjar is the youngest and most impulsive of the brothers and like his brothers, he sometimes feels lonely and dreams of a feminine touch and love. So he decides to go out and find one in town. He is not alone, two brothers accompany him. The evening doesn’t really go as planned but Benjar just follows his instincts and hopes for the best.
Ruby longed for an adventure but she never imagined that an alien would kidnap her from her bed. A young, huge, handsome and caring alien. Ruby doesn’t know what to think, but one thing is for sure, they are both trapped in Benjar’s cabin because of the snowstorm. They will have to find a way to live together and survive. But soon they discover that they like each other and that living together is easy and wonderful. But what happens when the storm passes and Ruby’s older sister finds her and wants her to go home. Will Ruby choose her family or Benjar?
Benjar and Ruby were both secondary characters in the first story. I liked them both a lot. And even though they looked very different physically (Ruby was human and Benjar was a Skefalla, an alien race with sharp teeth, claws and a tail) in other ways they were very similar. Both were young, enthusiastic and impulsive, looking for adventures and love. They were really cute together. Most people underestimated them because they were young and sometimes made impulsive decisions. But their intentions were always good and honest. 19-year-old Ruby was raised by her eight year older sister Phoebe. Who was very protective of her and spoiled her. For the first time in her life, Ruby had to work and fend for herself. That wasn’t always easy, but Ruby discovered that with Benjar’s help she managed to learn and do different chores. She grew as a person, just like Benjar.
Benjar looked like a huge, dangerous alien warrior but inside he hid a sensitive, gentle heart. He treated Ruby with respect and was great with her. He was protective but also taught her to take care of herself.
This story proved that even though you think you know which person and character suits you best, the heart always knows best in the end. Sometimes the person that you least expect is the best person for you.
Ruby and Benjar were so cute together. I’m very happy that they found each other. In the story you got both POV’s. I really liked that. There was also an epilogue at the end, which I always enjoy.
The secondary characters were great too, I’m very curious about the stories of the other brothers.
The cover is super unsettling to me, but I can't fault how super smooth and fluffy Benjar's blowout is in that image. Serious Rachel Green shit, that.
Reviewing this one after reading #4 in the series. This is the weakest one, I think. Most of the conflict is that this guy is kind of an idiot. In such a way that it felt maybe like him being a dipshit was a bigger part of the plot than the romance. If I wanted to get to know an idiot man, I'd just leave my house.
This series is amusingly close to some of the historic romance books I've been reading. I'm rating them spicy-2 because it's spicier than a white Southern woman's cooking, but not by much. Fade to black!? Fade. To. Black!!?? Something like, "he took her to bed and warmed her in a completely different way."
NO! Show me where ya piss from! Fuck a euphemism, give me an alien cock. I'm not here for manhoods. CHANNEL? That's a pussy. I was here for the fuckin' and I'm not getting it.
