I first gave the contemporary romance genre a serious chance after reading The Story of Us (Carnage Series) by Lesley Jones. Thanks to her talent, I dove in headfirst and read all her books. Then sought out similar books, high and low.

Two+ years later, while my general interest in the genre has waned, there are a select few authors for whom I would do almost anything. Lesley is at the top of that list. She brings a level of authenticity to her characters and storytelling that not many are capable of achieving. She is a very "real person" who makes her life accessible to her fans, which is also reflected in her books.

This third book, which follows Saving Ren and Loving Wild are a creative reboot of her Saviour series. All three books in this series are excellent if you like mature heroines who battle their emotional traumas with some wicked sass and epic dance sessions with their best mates (possibly after a few bevvies). The Australian slang is a riot, and there are many laugh-out-loud moments.

Chasing Blue has a few of my favourite tropes. Though it deals with some weighty topics, it is still an incredible small town, second-chance love story with some great schmexy-times AND really heartfelt confessionals. Jack and Scarlett's chemistry comes off the pages. I particularly love the moment Scarlett unpacks her emotional baggage with her father. I felt the catharsis along with the character when she got all that off her chest.

After this book, I feel like there is much more to be explored with the well-crafted secondary characters that comprise Jack and Scarlett's family and friends. Well done, Mrs Jones! I cannot wait for the next story.

Chasing blue had me bawling like a baby but left my heart full of love!!

Jack and Scarlett met one summer, had a night that would change everything but one phone call ended it just as fast as it all started!!

18 years later and they are face to face for the first time! The feelings come rushing back and Scarlett has truths to share that she’s not sure if she can! They feel for one another strong and fast the summer they met and both need to decide if they can trust themselves and each other again!

Gah I absolutely love Scarlett! She’s so strong but also a very loving and kind person! She wears her heart on her sleeve but can carry her own when needed. She truly is a force and it’s that strength that just floored Jack! He knew he had to have her and letting her go a second time is not in his plans! Jack definitely knows how to fight for the ones he loves. Together they just make sense!

Jones does not make this journey easy on us but that’s why I love her writing! She’s not scared to write the dirty ugly side of life and love. Her books are so cathartic to me! They are the medicine that soothes my soul and I just love her words to pieces!

Lesley Jones is my favourite go to author. I've not yet read a book of hers that hasn't failed to deliver, and Chasing Blue did just that.
I completely devoured Chasing Blue in hours.
Who needs work. It was amazing.
This book feels extra special to me, as I remember where this started, back in lock down.
Like many authors Lesley started to do an online fan participation/suggestion story. It didn't go on for long, before as with all Lesley's characters, they started speaking to her and Chasing Blue begun. No longer just lockdown fun, but the start of an amazing, beautiful love story.
I didn't want to have to wait, but it was well worth it.
All the feels. This book made me laugh and cry.
I love the descriptions. I love how I can see the characters in my mind, picture where they are!
If you like amazingly written, heartfelt, relatable characters, Scarlett and Jack is the perfect 2nd chance love story.

This is the third book In the savior series but can totally be read as a stand-alone.

While I enjoyed the first two books about Lauren and Gabe, this one was my favorite! This is the story of Jack and the girl he let get away! This second chance romance was full of everything I want from this trope - emotional, heartbreak, love, reuniting, betrayals and secrets!

18 years ago, Jack had the best and worst day of his life. Jack makes a decision, and it’s one that turns into one of his biggest regrets. When the red haired woman walks into his bar and he connects with her blue eyes he knows that fate has stepped in and is giving him is second chance. This time, he’s not letting Scarlett go.

I loved this Jack and Scarlett! Some secrets and regrets from both of them, and betrayal by others that affect their whole lives. I love that they find each other again. 💙

Where do I start? Lesley Jones always gives us just what we need in a story. Chasing Blue continues to showcase how well she balances angst and happiness.
This book is part of the Savior Series and follows Jack and Scarlet who we were introduced to earlier.

Jack and Scarlet (nickname Blue) met and fell hard before she was leaving for Uni. After what was their first time spending the night together, full of love and unsaid promises, Jack just disappears from her life.

Due to timing and miscommunication, Scarlet leaves for Uni early. She is broken hearted and on her own. She and Jack don’t see each other until 18 years later. She has no idea the interior design job she has been asked to consider doing is a bar owned by Jack.

Though Jack is all set to get back what they had, Scarlet is afraid and hesitant. Can she trust him with her heart again? She has had 18 years of comparing all men to him, he was “the one”. But what Jack doesn’t know is she lived with a secret while they were apart and it affects him also. Will their past mistakes stay in the past and will they be able to build a future despite the hurt of their past? Can he stop Chasing Blue…

All the major feels saturate this engaging story years after the original Duet Saviour Series: Saviour / Resolution was introduced to us. Funnily Redheads are known Blueys 🤷‍♀️ in Australia and this second chance love story is about a young boy, Jackson JMC Cole, who finds his One and loses her in the same night. He spends years chasing her in his heart, the proverbial The ONE that got away- Scarlett O'Brien and one day finds her in a surprising encounter.
It's sentimental and nostalgic, deeply yearning with soft tender emotions filled to the brim.
And trust Lesley to insert a mutant of Whorly in here, her name is Eden.
But true love triumphs exes, near exes, power pushers and time.

Another great book from Lesley Jones and another one which meant I had a couple of late nights. This was one of those books that you can't wait to get to if you can even put it down in the first place. I was desperate to find out what happened between Jack and Scarlett aka Blue. The chemistry is there, as usual, the banter, the funny one-liners and the heartbreaking romance.
Lesley has a knack for characterising normal people with normal lives within an epic love story and this one is no exception. All the characters are well-rounded with believable dialogue and a narrative that keeps you hooked. Jack is the sort of character that makes a perfect hero. He has the looks, the words, and the moves but also the faults which only makes him more real as a character. As for Scarlett/Blue she was the perfect foil, beautiful, strong, feisty and straightforward and typical of a fabulous Lesley Jones leading lady.
The support characters were great too and I have extra special love for Zoe and can't wait to hear more from them in Shannon's book.
I thoroughly recommend this book especially if you're looking for a swoon-worthy leading man!

Every time I read a Lesley Jones book, it’s my new favourite. Her characters and plots have me completely immersed and in love.
She has the ability to make me feel extreme emotions that have me laughing, crying, hating (she writes a mean, vindictive, stab-worthy character sooo well) and feeling a love so deep it makes my heart swell.
Chasing Blue is my new favourite now.

Jack and Scarletts past was brief but deep, it left a big scar in both their lives that shaped who they are now; eighteen years later.
Their chance meeting, in a different State is a phenomenal coincidence that gets the past out of the box and evokes big feelings.
Secrets come out to play and the story comes to life.
I adore the way this author writes a passionate, heartfelt story.
Reading Jack and Scarletts story will give you all the feels. Enjoy every word

FU lady for making me cry so hard...that's all....for now lol
Jack and Scarlett (aka Blue) have both overcome some difficult pasts. Jack as a young father and Scarlett as the girl who gave her heart away only to have it broken into pieces with no hope of ever putting it back together. They've both moved on, trying to live their best lives but sometimes fate or karma has a way of putting people back into each others paths and when this happens, you find yourself having to deal with the past in order to finally move forward. There are some difficult moments to read here and my heart was sent soaring and crashing more than once (thus my first line). Lesley Jones brings us a story that is not only full of love, but it is full of persistence and hope!

This is a real epic tale of love, loss and second chances
I loved it. There's lots of drama and the characters really seem made for each other but it's almost a comedy of errors at times, with misunderstandings, lost phones and evil exes a plenty. There were some elements to the plot that I guessed at right from the start, but having said that it didn't unfold in the way I thought it would. I liked the way the Australian characters dialogue went, the banter was good, and you could really feel the strength of relationships between certain characters. Some steamy sex scenes that fitted well into the story. Very bittersweet and emotional at times too. It's a really great read for a bit of everything.

The JMC…I love him and Scarlett. Let me just say LJ does not disappoint. This book will evoke laughter, tears, anger, angst and swooning. All the feels and not just for Jack and Scarlett. This is what I love about Lesley’s writing, we get all these relationships with the other characters as well and become attached and invested with them as much as the main characters and that is why they feel like family at the end of her books and sometimes you just have to randomly open up to no particular page and read a page or two and say “hey” to these beloved characters she so wonderfully creates for us. Well done again Mrs. Jones!

Quickie review: 3.5 stars. Actually turned out to be cute. I liked the Australian setting and slang, The story was a bit too fast moving. I didn't feel a big connection to the characters. Still, it was an interesting story and an easy read. I may continue the series.

Jack & Scarlett stole my heart

If there are three things I've learnt from reading a Lesley Jones Novel ... I must ALWAYS have a box of tissues close by, a drink in my hand, and a DO NOT DISTURB sign on my door. CHASING BLUE is a beautiful, emotional, heartbreaking second chance at love read, that had my tears flowing and spontaneous outbreaks of loud laughter. The heartache, desolation, betrayal, humour, misunderstanding, and oh the romance, all combine to bring Lesley's addictive words to life, and I just couldn't get enough of them.

"A little piece of my heart has remained yours for almost eighteen years."

For Jackson Cole and Scarlett O'Brien all it took was one summer, no, one night, to know that they had met 'the one'. Life and hope for the future were looking bright, until one phone call brought their world crashing down. Fast forward eighteen years and fate has them standing facing one another. but is it the right time? The attraction and chemistry between them still exist, but will they be able to open their hearts again or do the scars of the past run too deep?

"Baby, you've had all my attention since I first laid eyes on you."

Oh. My. God. I loved Jack. He was magnificent. A man whose heart has always known what it wanted, and now that the opportunity was there, he wasn't going to throw it away again. He may have been a confused twenty-one year old, but at thirty-nine there was none of that. He's chased Scarlett for eighteen years in his dreams - no longer, his dreams just became real. I adored how he was with Scarlett, determined, protective, caring, loving, a real gentleman (well, most of the time *wink, wink*). I loved the relationship he had with Finn; it was a real mateship. Scarlett was just gorgeous, not only in looks but also in personality. Her last eighteen years hadn't been easy, yet she had the strength and perseverance to follow through with her dreams. She wants Jack, but can she learn to trust him after everything that's happened?

"You were my one, Jack"
"Your one?"
"My one. The one I've set all others by."

Yet again Lesley Jones has written another heartbreaking story that shattered my heart, yet she also managed to put all the pieces back together. She is the QUEEN of angst, and long may she reign! Her characters just have a way of entrenching themselves in my heart. Speaking of characters, her secondary ones are just as amazing. Zoe, Scarlett's BFF is a riot, Finn, oh I loved that kid, Jack's brothers and sister, with them who needs enemies, and finally there's Arthur and Spangles, LOVE LOVE LOVED them all. Unfortunately, every good book needs a villain, and Lesley is soooo good at creating a villain we all love to hate, this time she gives her readers three of them, one is just as manipulative as 'whorely' from her Carnage series.

Jack and Scarlett stole my heart, and CHASING BLUE is now my favourite Lesley story. Once again Lesley had me experiencing all the joy and pain her characters endured - a testament to her mesmerising words.

****4.5 Jack motherf*cking Cole stars****

So, I'd love to preface this review by saying I LOVE second chance romances; in fact, they're probably my favourite trope, right up there with enemies to lovers and best friends to lovers. When I realized Lesley was giving me my trope, THE trope, I was ecstatic...and scared...but mostly ecstatic.

Now, let's be real, if you're not going into a Lesley Jones' novel with a healthy dose of fear for the characters, you're doing it wrong. This woman writes angst like she was put on the Earth to do just that. Jack and Scarlett are no exception to this rule.

We first meet Jack in Gabe and Lauren's story. You get a glimpse of a hardworking, single dad. You see the families connecting through the kids and he becomes a fixture in their larger group. You also find out there's a story there, some deep heartbreak; think "the one that got away". So, obviously I wanted to know what happened to this charming, brooding man.

Enter Scarlett.

I want to state, for the record, that Lesley's female protagonists are always a favourite of mine. Scarlett, or Blue as Jack affectionately refers to her, joins a long line of women in the extended Lesley universe that are batsh*it crazy. LOL I mean that in all the best ways.

These women, always feel like people I know. Blue is funny, brave, smart and takes no prisoners. She's also vulnerable and emotional and isn't afraid to go after what she wants. But life is messy. Scarlett faced some of the most painful things any person can go through, and she thrived. The real world has ups and downs. People do and say stupid things all the time. I love that you see these characters mess up and then figure it out. The best characters are always the ones who's story arcs you can relate to, and honestly, that's what Lesley does best. The banter between Scarlett and her best friend Zoe is hilarious. Scarlett's sass is unrivaled and Jack's kid is fantastic. Jack himself is just the right blend of responsible man trying his best to be a proper adult and a teenager like his son. The moments between them are brilliant.

Once again, we're allowed to spend time in this lovely Australian city, getting to know these fantastically flawed people figure their way out to a happy ever after. I'm so looking forward to more stories in this series!

Another fabulous book from Lesley Jones; always one of my favourite authors to read and this book didn't disappoint. The writing was top notch as usual, with Lesley's pinch of humour thrown in. Lesley writes from the heart which makes her stories full of passion and love with the touch of angst thrown in to the mix.

This is Jack and Scarlett's story, how they met one summer when they were young and then something happened to pull them apart. Eighteen years later they realise they are living in the same small town in Australia, but are the feelings still there or have they both moved on with their lives. Can the mistakes made in the past be forgiven ?

I have to say Scarlett was my favourite character. such a resilient feisty woman, so kind and loyal but vulnerable too with a past still haunting her. Scarlett has come a long way since she first met Jack so how will his return make her feel. Jack was ok but I didn't gel with him as much as I would have liked to be honest. He is a top bloke, honest, hard working but unsure of what lies ahead, Jack has a lot of thinking to do.

I would have loved to have had so much more of a back story on Jack and Scarlett and when they first met, how they felt, what they shared together back then, how that chemistry between the two of them that was so potent, it might decide on their future eighteen years down the line. I think it would have made it much more easier to connect to Jack when they met years later. It didn't spoil my enjoyment of the book at all and I did really enjoy it.

A great storyline where Lesley pulls no punches, I do love how she writes real life. With a strong female lead and really good secondary characters this book is my favourite out out of the three so far.

My list of books that evoke every emotion possible and then some just got longer by one. Chasing Blue is on the list! Prepare yourself because at times it isn't pretty. It's a story of love, loss, and finding the 'one'. Jack and Scarlett find themselves together and in love. These two seem to be made for each other. Before Scarlett can leave for Uni her world is turned upside down by events that she has no control over. She leaves taking her broken heart with her but life goes on and it does, for both her and Jack. Fast forward 18 years and Scarlett finds herself face to face with Jack, her new client. Are the feelings they had for one another still there? Is it possible that regardless of everything that happened and the time they have been apart that they could rekindle what they once had? Well, it's a romance so you can work the answer out for yourself but boy does Lesley Jones take us on one hell of a roller coaster ride to get these two to where we want them to be. The twists and turns keep coming and one minute you're smiling and the next your eyes are leaking and the next you seriously want to ask the author why would you do that to us, why just why? Of course, we love it when an author does throw us a curve ball so you're been warned. Jack, Scarlett, and all the side characters who play a big part in their journey keep you more than entertained. Once you start you won't want to stop with these two. It doesn't disappoint on the seggy side of things and if anyone can make your knees weak by saying 'good girl' it's Jack Cole and those green eyes of his.

Well let’s just say I sobbed throughout 50% of the book. Chasing blue tugged at my heart strings and I was riding those waves with both Josh and Scarlet.
So much heartache added with past trauma and secrets.
Lesley seriously knows how to bring her characters to life and she definitely does them justice.
Chasing Blue is the the Saviour Series.
This is a second chance romance.
One summer Jack and Scarlet had a summer romance. After their one night together, the next day Josh ghosts Scarlet. Scarlet decides to leave for uni a few weeks earlier than expected to get away from the gossip and heartache.

18 years later Josh and Scarlet come face to face again, when Scarlet goes to do a consult not knowing that the bar she was going to and the person she was meeting was Josh.

Not wanting to give anything away, there was a lot of miscommunication and lots of lies by others.
Scarlet has lived with a secret for 18 years, but is she ready to tell Josh? Will they finally have their happily ever after??

If you haven’t read this series yet, you need to get onto now. You will not be disappointed.

Ya’ll, this book! This book is so freaking good! I don’t know how Lesley does it time and time again, but she has a way to bring out all the emotions and build this world that you do not want to leave. I LOVED this book. I LOVED these characters. I LOVED the storyline. I LOVED every ounce of emotion that poured from the pages.

Gabe from the first two books was always my perfect bookboyfriend but he has now been replaced by Jack. I fell for him from page one. And Scarlett’s character was just amazing. I felt so much for her. She was such a strong character, and her story and journey will always have a special place in my heart. I hurt with her, and I healed a little with her. I will warn you to have tissues ready because in true Lesley Jones style, she brings the angst and the tears. I cried and cried my eyes out and just sat with my feels for days.

And the story would not be complete without the side characters! They were all phenomenal!

This can be read as a complete standalone (but that’s not fun, read Gabe and Ren!). The cover is beautiful and perfection.

Jack and Blue

Dual POV. Second chance romance. Book 3 in the continuing Saviour Series. This book can be read as a standalone. *Check with the author for trigger warnings.*

Jackson (aka Jack) and Scarlett (aka Blue) fall in love the summer before Scarlett starts college. Their relationship is strong and Jackson is thinking of a future with Scarlett. Sadly an unexpected phone call changes everything for Jackson and Scarlett is left ghosted, devastated, and forever changed. Eighteen years later both Jackson and Scarlett have successful careers but are both still unmarried. Regret and heartbreak are hard to get over when each person is holding on to old hurts and keeping secrets.

The way this story unfolds is very satisfying. The side characters are excellent and made me want to demand that each of them get their own story as well. I look forward to the next book in the series. JP

Chasing Blue, ...... I haven't read Lesley in quite some time.  I have been waiting for a new book and finally just what I needed.  First off it has been ages since I read The Savior Duet and I didn't feel lost at all reading #3.

Lesley is one of my favourites, great lady, great author.

Chasing Blue was exactly what I was looking for.  Fun summer love, angst, drama, second chance.  Jack and Scarlet aka Blue are amazing together.  Love thier connection, chrmistry. They are both such strong characters.   Zoe is awesome best friend, everyone needs a little bit of Zoe in thier lives.  I completely loved her.  Span and Anthony great additions as well.

This is a great second chance romance, with just the right amount amount of drama.  Lesley always knows how to dish and deliver the drama.

Highly recommend, great read, and that

Wow !! Lealey Jones never fails to wow with her words..
I received an arc copy of Chasing Blue .

We meet Scarlet and Jack in this 3rd part if the series.

Scarlet and Jack meet and have the most amazing, heartstopping romance and things look to be written in the stars for them . That's until Jack gets a phone call that changes their lives forever.

Scarlet ( Blue ) goes to uni and tries to put the pieces of her heart and life back together all the while keeping a big secret that could break her world apart.

18 years later the two are reunited and the sparks are still there but life has given them so many curve balls , we find them now seeing if they can overcome the various secrets and broken hearts to be what they were 18 years ago.

If you love a good angst filled romance that will make you swoon, cry and definitely laugh out loud then this is for you.

Another fantastic read from Lesley!! In every book she overdoes herself! But where do I start?... I loved the storyline and the characters and everything about the book! And the emotions…just wow!! Jack and Scarlett’s story just touched my heart. The first love and second chance are always my favorite type of stories. I have to say Jack and Scarlett’s stories are my favorite.
I fell in love with Jack from page one. Jack and Scarlett’s love was just amazing. There love was so strong. Who wouldn’t want that kind of love. Especially when that love is still there after eighteen years.
Chasing Blue is the third book in the Saviour series. It can be read as a standalone, but who wouldn’t want to dive into Lesley’s stories from book one?.. Lesley is by far my favorite and my one click author.

If you have read Lesley’s work before than you know there will be a rollercoaster of emotions. If you are a first time reader you are in for a treat. Lesley has a knack for making you feel everything the characters are feeling. This book is no different. The rollercoaster of emotions is everything you want it to be and then some. As always there is tears. For some reason I assumed I wouldn’t be ugly crying during this book. I should have known better. Yes she makes you cry but she doesn’t leave you heartbroken. Jack and Scarlet are a couple I’m hoping we get to read more of. This is a book I will definitely be doing a reread of. If you are going to read any book I would recommend this one. Brilliant work as always.
