TRUST, FEAR, LOVE, LOSS, HOPE, AND BELIEF IN HIM
As a loyal reader of books by Ms. Delta James, I do want to caution other readers not familiar with her writings, that you need to read and heed the warning. “Publisher's Note: Hoss includes spankings and rough, intense sexual scenes. If such material offends you, please don't buy this book.” (This warning is true!)
The story is a second-chance between Morgan Bishop, commonly called Hoss, and Remington ‘Remi’ Caulder and will take place around twenty years later but has a set up of how they know each other. If you have issues with non-consensual, dubious consent, rough, intense, and extremely frequent sex scenes, then this story may not be a good choice. The story also contains plenty of harsh discipline, once again non-con and dub-con.
“Remi had been the one thing he ever truly loved, and now she was gone. Gone was the quiet boy who had been in love with Remi Caulder. What emerged was a battle-hardened warrior.”
EARLY YEARS: Remi’s life was thrown in turmoil the night of her prom that she was to attend with Morgan. Her father announces they are moving immediately, and she can’t get word to Morgan. Morgan feels like a fool stood up by Remi, and teased by the football quarterback, Steve. One punch, and now his world is turned upside down and he is entering the Army.
Fast forward to the present, and Remi is a chef and on an elimination televised show with a hefty prize and notoriety, along with other chefs. When her roommate is murdered and she appears as the guilty party, too many things don’t add up. But why are there threats against her to leave the show? Who can help her when the police see her as the prime suspect and don’t believe her? In a panic, she will leave Philadelphia and drive straight back to Texas to the one person she trusts, Morgan. But does she know how he has changed? Dominant is only the tip of the iceberg.
“Never dare me, Remi; not where getting my hands on you’re ass or your safety is concerned.”
The story is part murder-mystery, life and death suspense, second-chance romantic suspense, plenty of discipline and control, and rough sex make up the relationship between Morgan and Remi. When her life hangs in the balance, not only Morgan but his team, all former Rangers from his time in the military, are working on this case, trying to keep her safe. But things just don’t add up as to who could have committed the murder and how they are making it look as if Remi is guilty.
“As you say, it’s all a little too pat, a little too perfect. Murder and money are never this neat and tidy.”
What will happen between Morgan and Remi once this bizarre case is solved? Will they stopped living on what they think happened the night of the prom and discuss what truly happened? Can Morgan forgive Remi for what she couldn’t control? Will they admit to their feelings and move forward, or will they go their separate ways?
“This was not the first time he’d claimed her body, but this was so much more. This time he wasn’t just demanding her physical response. This time he was asking for her soul—and she was relinquishing it to his care.”
“You. Just you. Always you.”
