Opposites attract at LA’s largest soup kitchen when a businesswoman falls in love with one of her patrons. Fans of Susan Stoker won’t want to miss Yosef and Savannah’s love story.
Savannah Carrington is too busy for romance. She has a soup kitchen to operate which thankfully helps her avoid her socialite mother’s attempts to marry her off to some L.A. millionaire. When a patron is attacked, she runs fearlessly down a dark alley to help. Saved by a man who emerges from the shadows, she wants to thank him only to find he’s disappeared…
Yosef ‘Joe’ MacArthur, a Green Beret who served in Afghanistan has gone into hiding. Admiring her from afar, he’ll never admit to his growing feelings for Savannah and will stop at nothing to keep her safe. A war hero, DC is tearing apart L.A. to award him the highest military honor any soldier could receive. But Joe has no time for that. Savannah is in danger. Hunted by the leader of a notorious drug ring, Joe is faced with an impossible choice: save a city full of innocent civilians or save Savannah.
A most unlikely pairing, love shows no prejudice in this emotional, action packed, heartfelt story.
Romance and danger ensue in Rachel Homard’s suspenseful tales, all can be read as standalones but best when read in order: The Green Triangle | TBD
A great suspenseful romance debut (I think) and start of a new series. I know there is at least one more to read after this and luckily it's available on my book app. Find these kind of romances entertaining with some action and romances to be an easy read. Not much needed brain power but very engaging and usually a good time spent. And this one definitely didn't disappoint. Need to continue on with the series soon rather than later though as I'm bad ar remembering to finish series but it's not the book fault.
Thank you to author Rachel Homard for the gifted copy of the book. I voluntarily reviewed this book and all opinions are my own.
Rachel Homard writes a fantastic action packed romantic suspense between protagonist Savannah Carrington and military elite Joe MacArthur. Rachel runs a soup kitchen in Los Angeles and an unfortunate attack one night puts Rachel’s life in danger. Joe comes to her rescue and he starts to have feelings for her - and what an unlikely couple they are.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this fantastic debut novel by Rachel Homard. I enjoyed the characters, the dialogue and the slow burn romance between these two. I hear there is a second book coming and I look forward to it.
Congratulations Rachel for being a published author!!!
I am not much of a reader, but this book is very attention grabbing. Was lucky enough to read it in advance to the release. It has a lot of accurate military components in it as her father was also a Green Beret in the Army. It highlights some of the issues a veteran has coming home from war, along with a gripping love story with high amounts of actions and twists. This is a great story written from dual points of view and timelines. It kept me wondering "what will happen next?!?!?" I can't wait to read the sequel which is already in the works according to the author. A great modern romantic thriller. Reading this story, I kept picturing this as a movie! So much action and excitement.
The perfect blend of action, excitement and romance! Rachel grabs your attention from the very first page and doesn’t let jt go until the last, all while making you fall in love with the damaged hero and reluctant heroine. Loved this book!!!
I will preface this by saying I am not a reader of action books. The romance angle of this book is what drew me in, but I ended up enjoying the action and suspense even more. I couldn’t put this book down! There are so many twists and turns you’ve got to keep reading to find out what happens to these endearing characters. I found it hard to get behind the romance at the beginning, which I’m guessing was intended, but by the end I was rooting for them to end up together. As someone personally unfamiliar with the armed services, I feel like I understand a little bit more the struggles a veteran might have with PTSD and navigating civilian life. The hero’s point of view was heartbreaking and insightful. The author knows what she’s writing about in this area. Bonus points for writing about a non-white hero! Read this book if you like military, romance or action! You won’t put it down.
Romance and suspense draw you into a world of drug lords, war, poverty, acceptance and love. I could not put down this book and I know once you have the chance to read this book you won’t either.
You step into this world of the super rich and there you meet Savannah. She is not your typical rich girl. All she desires is to help the poor and does that through a soup kitchen she has set up in a poverty stricken area consisting mostly of homeless people.
Savannah develops a beautiful relationship with Allen. Allen is an older homeless person who is able to afford a place to live but chooses to stay homeless to stay close to those in need. He helps at the soup kitchen and always helps Savannah walk to her car due to her fear of the dark. He has also developed a special relationship to another homeless man named Joe.
Now Savannah has been dating Holden. He is Adonis like, rich but overall a kind man according to Savannah. Something is still missing and Savannah just isn’t quite sure what to do about Holden.
Allen is killed and Savannah is brutally attacked. Allen has kept a dark scary secret that puts Savannah in grave danger. Who can save her from the danger that is about to unfold? Is it Joe who holds a secret past, her clueless rich parents, the police? And what or who is The Green Triangle?
Let’s just say Joe has a very interesting past and has been watching Savannah for months. Allen always said that he felt Joe was the one for Savannah.
I have to say I loved this book. It kept me guessing to the very last moment. Ms Homard has a style of writing that draws you in till the very end. I give this book 5 stars.
The accurate portrayal of PTSD in Rachel Homard’s debut: The Green Triangle, far exceeded the already-high expectations I held for this book. Through rich storytelling, and a dual point of view timeline, Homard has crafted a romantic, nail-biting, fast-paced story that will leave one turning pages quicker than they ever have. Joe’s story is like an onion. With each chapter, the reader is fed another layer of him. The heaviness of Joe’s emotions intertwining with Savannah’s teaches those unfamiliar with the aftermaths of war just how hard it can be for those who serve our country. Homard’s debut was gripping, honest, and extremely well written. You won’t want to miss out on this book.
Well, folks, Rachel Homard has made an entrance with her debut romantic suspense novel, and she did not disappoint! I sat down to start this book and could not put it down, I read it all the way through in one sitting. With my heart pumping, I was on the edge of my seat speeding through the twists and turns while smiling at the love story that develops along the way. Savannah Carrington, a 30-something woman trying to find meaning and purpose in her life, operates a Los Angeles soup kitchen that serves a large homeless population. From a well-to-do family, she has constant pressure from her socialite mother to be married off to some eligible bachelor. She just wants to live her life in the light, literally - she holds onto a childhood fear of the dark that is nearly paralyzing. Savannah's closest friend, Allen, is a much older homeless veteran that knows the real her. He helps her run the soup kitchen and looks out for other vets on the street. He has been talking a lot about one in particular, Joe MacArthur. Joe is not what he seems. His shaggy beard and dirty clothes keep people from looking too closely, he doesn't want to be seen or found. Except, maybe, by her. When Allen and Savannah find themselves in danger, Joe slips from the shadows to save them and disappears just as quickly. But he can't stay away, not with her in danger. Savannah and Joe are drawn to each other. As they navigate a web of deceit built upon revenge, Savannah realizes this handsome Green Beret is a hero. Now she just needs to get Joe to see it that way too. Guilt and trauma from his last mission in Afghanistan haunt his sleeping and waking dreams. She has a million questions and a deep desire to understand everything about this sweet man. But his sole focus and mission objective is to protect her, and he can't do that if he is distracted by her and his past. Will his rigid and closed off nature drive her away? Will they escape the mysterious green triangle organization that is after them? Rachel Homard crushed it with her first book. Joe is a complicated character that Rachel expertly unpacks throughout the story. I loved the supporting characters around him, his loving parents and Army buddy, Clark. Savannah has an innocence and naivety that is endearing. The acceptance and empathy she shows will make you love her even more. The plot developed quickly but solidly. While there was never a dull moment, there wasn't action thrown in just to have action. Every scene further developed the story. Sprinkles of clues were left along the way, not too much to give away the ending, but enough for it to be totally believable! I am very much looking forward to Rachel's next book.
The Green Triangle by Rachel Hornard was a fantastic surprise! I have been pretty partial to fantasy books lately and was unsure how I would feel while reading this book. Savannah is a 30 year old woman from a wealthy background who finds peace and meaning in working a soup kitchen for the homeless in L.A. making every attempt to avoid the life her socialite mother tries to force on her. She sees an attack in an alley on her way home and while attempting to defend the victim, her friend; she gets attacked herself. A man saves her from the attack which initiates a whole truck load dumping of trouble onto herself and her rescuer. Her rescuer, Yosef “Joe”, has his own struggles he is managing including PTSD from his military service and some hiding out situation that puts the reader on edge. The duo find themselves going from acquaintances to so much more in merely hours as they navigate through seemingly endless danger. This book successfully explores many important themes such as living with PTSD, experiencing prejudice, and navigating relationships and self-doubt. Never a dull moment, this book was engaging, exciting, and always building. I thought I had reached the climax of the book and realized I was only halfway through! It keeps getting better! I loved the character development the reader gets to experience throughout multiple characters, the questions that keep you guessing, and the puzzle pieces that all fit together as the story unfolds. Nothing made me happier than to find out that the sequel is already in the works after I finished this book! Can’t wait to read more from this author!
Savannah runs a soup kitchen with the help of Allen her right hand man. She does it to give back and keep her away from her mother's matchmaking. One night she comes across someone being attacked and rushes to help. Luckily a stranger comes to her aid, and rescues her as well. Joe is a former Green Beret and currently hiding from those in Washington trying to give him a medal he is convinced he doesn't deserve. These two are thrown together in some crazy times. She is in danger and doesn't really understand why. They have to work the puzzle out and quickly as their lives are depending on it. I really enjoyed this book. Savannah and Joe are great, Clark is wonderful also. I hated Holden and couldn't quite figure out why. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.
The Green Triangle by Rachel Homard will surprise you! This book has the set up of a classic Hallmark romance, where the protagonist (Savannah) is just too busy for love! This is what drew me into the story because who doesn't love a classic romance? But Homard's talent for taking the reader on an action-filled adventure came as an unexpected and enjoyable surprise! This book is strong in its military themes, which I'm not used to reading, but found interesting. What I think is great about The Green Triangle is that it appeals to both audiences - those who are in it for the romance and those who are in it for the action!
Boom!! This is how you write a debut novel. The Green Triangle starts in the streets of Los Angeles amongst the homeless. It was filled with action, suspense, angst, and romance. It sensitively highlights some issues a green beret veteran can experience when trying to navigate civilian life after returning from war. I found myself enthralled from the first page, through to the last and beyond as now I need the sequel like yesterday. Told in dual POV it was a gripping and beautiful interracial love story that must conquer many hurdles, twists and turns before they reach a HEA. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can’t wait for any future books from Rachel including the sequel to this one.
I really enjoyed Rachel Homard's The Green Triangle. The characters are compelling and come alive in the narrative, and I caught myself thinking about them when I wasn't reading it. This novel has a fast pace and a dangerous mood that is deliciously amusing. I could say it's a Dan Brown meets Nicholas Sparks. Interesting and driven with all that military set and mistery to be solved, but at the same time, it is going to make you fall in love alongside Savannah and Joe. A very nice reading for sure!
I wasn't sure what to expect when I started this book. I love military suspense and romantic suspense and am very picky as to which ones I choose to read - so many books, so little time. The Green Triangle, in all honesty, was a joy to read. It was engaging, action-packed, thrilling, romantic, and heartfelt. Kudos to Ms. Homard on her first novel! I cannot wait to see sequels to this book and see her progression as an author. Download and enjoy!
I could have read this book in one sitting it is so good, but life kept getting in the way and I was resentful that I had to stop and put the book down! If you love a book with intrigue, suspense, romance, and great characters this is the book for you. It is well written, descriptive, with powerful imagery that makes you feel as though you are there with each character. It will take you on an emotional rollercoaster with no way of eating off. Highly recommended.
A story of two people learning to value themselves to learn to love
I don't really read action books but this book was so good I had to finish it in a day. I kept telling myself, just a little more. Before I knew it I was finished. I love it when a book transports you to another world. Ms. Homard did a great job of taking the reader through scenes of emotion, suspense, romance, and laugh out loud moments. Her knowledge of the themes covered in the book is astounding.
This was a very entertaining read. I loved Savannah Carrington, so strong and brave. The whole network of bad guys within the green triangle is astonishing. I was in suspense throughout the entire book. It's definitely a page-turner that deserves to be read, you'll won't regret and definitely have a good time just as I did.
Honestly - I couldn't finish it. There was no heat. I was 80% of the way through and it was still dragging. This had such potential with a great character who was open about discussing race but the Pollyanna TSTL heroine and the lack of heat bored me to tears. More interested in the side character. Maybe I will try again with author... but maybe not.
This was an entertaining, fast-paced book, though it had some typos, inconsistencies and confusing parts. I enjoyed reading about the developing relationship between Savannah and Joe and their efforts to resolve the danger surrounding them. I would read other books by this author.
Rachel did a great job developing the characters and telling the story. It was mysterious with several twists. Enjoyed it and looking forward to the sequel!
