Creek Valley Creamery #2

After Eight: A Small Town Surprise Baby Romance

Rate this book
Tyson Shinkle, Creek Valley’s infamous playboy.

He’s easy on the eyes, but even his friends warned me away from him. But did I listen? Nope.

Like many others that came before me, I fell under his charms. More than once. Totally broke his “one night” rule.
And then again.
And another time after that.
And where did it get me?

Knocked up.

I’m in no way prepared to have a baby nor do I have the first clue how to tell the man he’s going to be a father.

To complicate matters, he doesn’t live in Creek Valley. Heck, he doesn’t even like Creek Valley. He’s certainly not going to keep coming back for me or a baby. Once a player, always a player, right?

Yeah, that’s what I thought too. Who knew I was wrong?

Who knew Tyson would become such a favorite for me? He’s flawed. He’s arrogant. He’s…promiscuous. And yet, he sees himself clearly for the most part. He knows who he is. He knows what he wants. And he doesn’t break his rules. Until Stevie, that is. And now? Well, maybe now he’s realizing that there’s a lot more to him than the guy he’s been. And a lot more to life than what he’s lived.

Stevie is easy to like. She’s smart, dedicated, loyal, loving. And she sees something in Tyson. Maybe it’s overshadowed by other parts, but she sees more than the playboy everyone else does. So when life thrusts them together in a big way, she’s prepared to go it alone. Except she doesn’t have to. Because Tyson is all in, even if he’s not sure what that means just yet.

I also adore Griffin. He loves his sister and knows that there has to be more than meets the eye with Tyson. So he’s the perfect ally and sidekick to both Stevie and Tyson when they need him. And I would love to see him find his person. Maybe not the person we’re thinking, though? I don’t know. She’s angered me a bit with with her sharp judgments and disdain. But at the same time, that someone is looking out for her bestie and needs to keep Stevie’s heart intact. So maybe she’s the right person. I guess we’ll find out.

This isn’t a conventional story of love, but it is definitely an honest one. Tyson and Stevie both have some uncomfortable moments, some growing to do (more him than her), and some changes to make. But isn’t that life? You roll with what you can and work on the rest. So enjoy this journey, since Stevie and Tyson definitely put in the work to earn their happiness!

I don't know who I love more in this book, Tyson or Stevie. Taylor has the unique ability to create characters who you instantly relate to and adore. And believe me, when I say, I adore all of her characters. I felt every word in After Eight, lived the experiences as they were experiencing them and I thought I loved in them in CVC 1 but man oh man.

Taylor, your words always help inspire me and for that I am grateful. Now if I could only get Finn's book (who makes an appearance and I screamed and scared my kids, btw). Because we all know I need more Luke and since he's Finn's Dad, I'm certain we will see some of him in his book ;)

Back to the book review though, if you haven't read this one yet, I highly recommend you do when its out because this one, was a page turner!

It was just one night. Then just after eight. But then two pink lines surprise Stevie and Tyson. He's Creek Valley's infamous playboy. One and done, no strings, no relationships. Yet something keeps drawing them back together. Tyson goes through metamorphosis from Mr. ONS to Mr. HEA. Maybe he was ready-ish, maybe it was something else. But really, I like to think that he saw in Stevie the partner he never knew he needed. She was the only one he told his family history to, the one he shared his secrets with, the reasons why he wanted to leave Creek Valley in his rear view mirror. Then Stevie compromises for him and moves to the windy city. Is that love or what?!?!? This surprise baby made them both examine their wants and needs, their willingness to be partners and co-parent. It wasn't about a place, but more about finding the person to get to that ever after. I can't wait to see what happens with the Creek Valley Creamery in the next book!

I received an advance copy of this book at my request and voluntarily left this review.

This was my first surprise pregnancy book and I surprisingly really enjoyed it! I loved the dynamic between Tyson and Stevie. They really felt like they were meant to be and fit together so well. It was nice that a big focus of the story was building a relationship with Tyson and Stevie and the pregnancy was there but not like this giant full story consuming thing. It made me feel like even if Stevie didn’t get pregnant they would have ended up together anyway. As a person who’s child free by choice this story was really good and pulled at my heartstrings. Now I’m officially all caught up on this series and am so excited for Cold Brew!

After Eight picks up right where Rocky Road left off. Tyson is home from Chicago for a quick visit with the CVC crew. Tyson can’t help but steal some time with a girl he already spent his “one night” with.
Stevie knew Tyson’s MO. She knew he was a player and never went back to the same girl twice. She knows he has some secrets about growing up. None of that stops her from giving Tyson one more night. The night turns out to be more than either of them bargained for, but in the end it actually becomes so much more.

I loved Tyson in book 1 and he was even better in this book. As he didn't live or seem to like Creek Valley I wondered how he would react to the news Stevie gave him. She is an amazing heroine who is a strong woman but also believed in doing the right things. I loved how she helped Ty when he needed it.

I'm always excited for one of Taylor's books. She creates real characters with flaws and emotion, and they arent afraid to lay it all out. I enjoyed returning back to the CVC and seeing how Tyson would be drawn back into the area-obviously all it took was Stevie.
I love how they worked through the unknown and made it a priority to tackle the big stuff or even table it to the List for future discussion.

I was lucky to be on Taylor's ARC team.

Tyson has a lot of growing up to do and lots of dragons to slay to find his HEA….good thing Stevie is rock solid. I really like Stevie…she’s a strong heroine who is able to see through the shield Tyson wears…she’s got a no nonsense personality and takes life as it comes. I was disappointed in Tyson a few times but he did redeem himself lol.

A very enjoyable and addition read. I wasn't sure what I was getting going into this book but I really enjoyed it. The story was great and the characters were so good to read about. A great book.

I could not put this book down! I loved watching these characters grow and develop into who they really wanted to be. Great chemistry, plenty of obstacles to overcome, and I loved the bonus epilogue!

Tyson and Stevie are such a great couple in the end. Tyson has gone through so much and still comes out a great guy. Can’t wait to read book number three.

I absolutely loved this book! It was a cute and a little heartbreaking story. I felt so bad for Tyson but I love that he had Stevie to help him. I now have to read the other books in this series because I don’t remember if I have or not. Lol I just love everything Taylor writes.

Have you ever discovered a new author and wished you had known about them along time ago? Do you immediately download all of their books and get lost within the Pages? That is what has been happening to me with discovering Taylor Delong.

Her characters are relatable. The situations are believable. She gives me someone that I don't like so I can take out my frustrations. Their is so much drama and conflict that I feel as if I am watching a soap opera. After Eight did not disappoint. The story grabbed me. The tensions were a thrill. I could not wait to see what happened.

After Eight is my favorite book so far. Yes, I know I have a long way to go, but for now just-- WOW!!!
We have all known "that" guy. The one with the revolving front door. The one that is always one and done. Tyson is that guy in Creek Valley. He has his reasons. He has his issues. Will he find love in a small town he swore to never stay in again?

The big question for me was could he ever be trusted. Could he become a the man that is happy to be with just one woman? She is out there, if only he would believe in himself. I can honestly say the drama in Creek Valley made my day.

After Eight is the second book in The Creek Valley Creamery series, and I have to say I really enjoyed Tyson and Stevie's story. These books are very relatable with real-life situations.

Tyson had a crappy home life and got in trouble until Bernie, the Creamery's owner, guided him to becoming better and gave him a chance and helped him. He grew up to have a good job and has money, more than he ever did as a child. He also moved away from Creek Valley to be successful. He never thought he could be in Creek Valley cause he didn't think he belonged.

Brings me to Stevie she moved to Creek Valley a few years ago from the big city with her mother/brother Griffin. She also works at the only bar called The Bar. She became besties with Brynley and met Reid and Sawyer & then Tyson and Campbell when she moved back after Bernies funeral. That's how she got into her one night with Tyson, and a few months later, after being sick, she finds out she's pregnant by the playboy. Read and find out how Tyson & Sawyer deal with pregnancy and see if they can become more than upcoming parents.
