Middang3ard #4

Blue Hell and Alien Fire Lib/E

Rate this book

The Mundanes finally have a chance to stop the Dark One.

Too bad they have to die to do it.

After José’s untimely death, the Mundanes must step up as the new leaders of the MERC world. However, José’s shoes are hella big to fill.

To try to lighten the mood, the Mundanes head to the Island to find one of the most precious substances in all of Middang3ard.

Ambrosia.

It was, after all, José’s favorite drink. In an effort to raise morale, they figure, why not throw a party in the fallen MERC’s honor?

But the Dark One is already on the Island, hatching deadly warriors faster than orcs eat pigs.

What’s more, José’s ghost is haunting the Mundanes. It seems that even in death, he’s fighting the evil that plagues Middang3ard, and the legendary MERC has found a way to defeat the Dark One.

But José needs help.

And the Mundanes have to join him in the afterlife to do it, while simultaneously stopping the Dark One on the Island.

Now Suzuki and his ragtag band of MERCs have to defeat the Dark One both in Life and Death. Will their deaths be enough to get the job done?

A few corrections to ensure wrong info isn't spread unknowingly.
Tarzan is not under copyright for another 21 years, several tarzan books were out of copyright back in 1916, and a couple more were released from copyright in 2019, and more will follow as time goes on, so not quite the 21 year wait mentioned in the book.
Also, Hawaii is made up of 8 different islands, not just one as mentioned in the book.
For some reason, this isn't the first book I've seen claiming chimeras have less than three heads, nor is it the first one that claims the heads are different from the one in greek mythology, but while the heads themselves seem to vary, the number (except in this book and one other LitRPG book I read), always remained at three heads.
With those minor issues out of the way, I didn't have any major issues with the book. I think Jose showing up repeatedly was a bit of a crutch, but otherwise, the story wasn't a bad one. It seems like there was a bit of experimentation in this book to see what worked with the characters, or perhaps trying to find new footing, not sure really, and that messed with the story a bit, but if that sort of thing doesn't bother you, then the story should be an enjoyable one, but you can't read this book without reading previus ones in the series, it won't make a whole lot of sense if you try it, though you might still like the character interactions, and want to read the rest, you'll get much more out of it if you're read other things in the world first.

Good crew

The mundane's are a awesome crew of characters. The storyline was really good too. It got better when they arrived at the dark ones rings. The story came together. There was some likeability issues regarding the characters. It took me a while to click with some of them. Stew, Beth and Sandy. The horsemen were great, the first what, dwarf? Merc I liked could have played a larger role. The role of mereic??? The head honcho Is unclear, from both these and dragonriders books, is he competent, is he a uncaring ass, is he loyal. Don't know. The reason I had trouble with liking the characters was because you made them too crude, way way too much needless vulgar language. I'm not a prude, but totally grossed out regularly. Very much written by guys perspective. And made the girls talk like guys, so they were farfetched. A bit too much slang, with Dianes buddy, I didn't know what she was saying at times. Really liked the red dragon and Jose, he should come back. And they should start saving people by ripping off their implants. Actually save the world, place value on the races, instead of butchering them. If you cut much of the potty mouth out, these would be much better books

Good lord after that ending PLEASE make another mundanes novel!!!

I really enjoyed the character development and there is so much to build on there,. Reading the authors notes that the mundanes will most likely be in some spinoff I would wish on whatever pillar gets it there to see just one more mundanes based novel to complete what Jose asked of them in the end of this one ... Please!!! With extra sugar or blood or whatever it takes on top... I got here a bit out of order ..reading 'dragon approved" first.... Since I started with that and loved it so I hit this series not knowing it came after but enjoying it no less.

It shouldn't end!

This team of characters is Wonderful! I'm going to miss them. Until we meet again characters.

Have to go get folks on board to read this series, about VR gamers who end up in a War of the World's - while amazing"historical references" make cameo & supporting roles seem perfect.

I enjoy the synergy of the series, & loved the interdimentional parts as they showed thought went into it & it flowed well.

A fun book, as a stand-alone, or good in the series too!.

Great series

Really got into the characters and their epic battles. The Mundanes are a force to be reckoned with, two young men and two young women. They play a video game together, never knowing it's preparing them for the real world of Middang3ard and the battles to save its realm and eventually earth.
Read the books back to back and I am not tired of the Mundanes at all. Would love to read more stories starring the Mundanes. I like Ramy Vance books, he keeps you reading into the wee hours.
Ramy, more stories starring the Mundanes. Thank you.

Even more intense 😳

For all of the fighting, flippant conversations, and sarcasm, there are some very deep moments where we see into the characters’ souls, and cannot help but be moved by what we read. It’s very simple at times, very complex at others.

The fight against the Dark One Ramos up to ridiculous levels, and the Mundanes rise to the challenge. The story levels up as it continues, and I can’t begin to imagine what the next book will bring. How long until it’s published???

Series

This series should continue on its own, to completion. Side stories or supporting roles is all well and good, but the story needs to complete with the eventual defeat of the Dark One. Otherwise it becomes a chore to read a stretched out storyline. This is only my opinion and not meant to be derisory in any way. I love the storyline, but it needs to finish to fruition.

Very good story

So I have loved the plot, the characters and the setting a lot. Only to find out the authors are going to leave me hanging!!! The end was good but the cliff hanger sucks and the authors notes are even worse. Come on guys! These are awesome characters that deserve to have their story finished.

Speechless

Really good read....Kicking Azz and not taking names. The Mundanes are back in action sent on an easy mission to bring back the makings for Ambrosia. Then everything goes south.

This series rocks

If you like any fantasy or role playing books (or games for that matter), this series will hit all your favorite buttons. They have great references to a lot of authors, movie directors and a dizzying amount of mythical gods and creatures. It was wonderful!

Lots of adventures.

This book is an end to a story arc. There appear to be spin offs. Continuity issues lost it a star. Lots of violence and raunchy warrior humor.
