But caution yourself, reader.

The inner minds of two families create death in this addictive psychological journey. Profound loss and hatred are explored to a depth unknown previously. Michael is a boy from the suburbs with everything seemingly intact. He plays sports, has friends, and is physically healthy. But something is wrong. The monster in his mind screeches and howls for a better way —a path away from abuse and scandal and murder, and the instability that plagues his adolescence. But there is no way out. There is no way to sell this story, reader. There is no belief for Michael to cling to. There is no escape once you embark on the journey. Be prepared to make friends with the monster in your mind.

Throughout the adventure, your mind will seek resolution. Maybe a constructive way out. But the monster in your mind is the same one haunting the book itself, and it will lead you down paths you never thought of.

If you go inside your mind, will you find a way out of your own maze?

Everyone has a monster in their mind. Whether it be your own self talking to you or something darker… We follow a bunch of different people and their inner voices and what it’s telling them to do and how to act.

All the characters in here were written so well and most definitely kept me on my toes. Not only are we following like six people in the book but they all have their inner voices and their inner voices monologue to keep up with, which was not a negative thing at all for me. I loved the story and the twist in the book was hinted at but still an utter shock to me with the way it was executed! This was such a fun ride and such good commentary for “intrusive” thoughts!

Monsters In My Mind is one of those rare book that makes you question the world around you, which also causes you to look at it in a different light. I applaud the way the author has gone about tackling mental health, which for many years was once considered to be taboo subject.

The title in question - Monsters In My Mind - refers that voice we all hear in hear in our heads that constantly whispers to us in the back of my minds, sometimes filling with us confidence, being the voice of reason and sometimes that little voice which causes us to doubt ourselves. But more importantly, unfortunately, it is that voice which also can lead people down a dark path.

I like the way the author has laid out this book, by telling a story in the first person from the point of view of several interesting characters, who all have one thing common, that voice in their head who they all have a nickname for, but is constantly whispering/arguing/advising them. The author also quite cleverly interlaces the story with fourth wall breaks, where he speaks/whispers to the reader causing them to go back and look at the earlier chapters in a different light.

I cannot recommend this book highly enough. It may not your cup of tea but I would strongly suggest that you at least you give this a try, if you do then you are helping to raise awareness of just how important it is to look after our own mental health, which is the overlying message of this book.

I am the thoughts from which you cannot escape. I am the burden that brings you down, way down."

It's been a while since I read a motivational story that was so creepy! 😅 I went in blind and I didn't know where it was headed, but it all made perfect sense in the end.

The parts from the monster's POV were the best, super creepy! How scary is the idea that we are all basically just puppets, controlled by what lies in our heads.

My only trouble was the length of the book but I really liked how all the chaos of the monsters ended on a positive note.

Thanks to @mbooktours @nick0liveri for the DRC of this book.

This book tells a simple story with different POVs. But what made the story interesting was the monster in each character’s minds. It definitely had suspense too, that’s how i finished it in only 3 days. I don’t think i can say anything more about this book without giving spoliers:))

Would give it a zero if I could. 440 pages of what I can only describe as a year 10 writing assignment. I appreciate what the author thoughts they were doing but I just couldn’t get immersed

Monsters In My Mind is a story written in multiple POVs involving a wide cast of characters. It focuses mainly on a young boy Micheal and people related to him. But here's the twist, each of these people have another voice residing in their head, a voice that makes some of them doubt themselves or make them feel arrogant but all the while telling them that they're not good enough. It's a voice we've all heard. But things are not as black and white as they look.

The theme of the book, mental health, a very sensitive topic, is very skillfully handled. The way of story-telling is wholly engaging, making you want to know what's next. The writing style is very captivating and hauntingly beautiful. I loved the chapters written in chaos/monster/voice in mind's POV. They were very well done.

If you're into psychological thrillers, I think this book would be a breath of fresh air.

☠ Monsters in my mind is an introspective book thata enthuses you to read it without putting it down. The story is about the bit name Michael and his unheard and unseen monsters resident in his mind. He was a sporty boy who was physically healthy but his mind was swallowed by the creepy monster that haunt him and take a charge of his personality.

☠The writer writes brilliantly about the psyche of each character. How the dark monstrous side of characters overtakes them and creates an impact on their circumstances directly.

☠The writer remarkably jotted down the human struggle against their evil and monsters that try to bug them.

☠This book is hauntingly engrossing and absorbing in that I was totally consumed. It was intense, showing the different perspectives of the human psyche and how fear, self-doubt, and agony intensify your inner monster. It was an absolutely amazing psychological thrill. I love the way that how creatively the author pinned down mental health and human psychology and behavior. I truly like the book.

"Monsters in My Mind" by Nick Oliveri is a hauntingly addictive psychological journey that explores the profound loss, hatred, and inner demons of characters. The story centers around Michael, a boy from the suburbs, who appears to have everything but is plagued by abuse, scandal, and murder, leading to the monster in his mind howling for a way out.
.
The book is an intense exploration of the human psyche and the ways in which our inner demons can drive us to the brink of insanity. As the reader accompanies Michael on his journey, there is a constant sense of unease and tension, as if the monster in his mind is also lurking within our own subconscious.
.
Oliveri's writing style is raw and gritty, with a keen eye for detail that immerses the reader in the story. The characters are complex and multi-layered, with their actions and motivations often shrouded in mystery. I had fun reading this book! It is one of those books that will stay with you long after you've finished it.

I was a bit disappointed in this one. It wasn't so much about mental health as it was about that voice that we all have in our heads amplified for the purposes of a horror story. It could have been a good story and I enjoyed parts of it but, the story just ended. There were multiple POV's that made me think that the situations of all characters were important but a couple story lines just abruptly ended without any type of resolution and they were kind of a big deal. I knew what the author was trying to do but it felt like there was a deadline and so they just submitted it unfinished and ran with it.

I believe this book achieves what it sets out to do and that is getting a fine-toothed comb through the mental illness plaguing the characters. It is an insightful and informative read that helps one think about their mental illness while emphasizing the struggles just underneath the surface. I felt this unique humanity from each of the characters and what they do with it makes a difference to the story as a whole, a good book, and a great message

I devoured this book in one sitting. It offers a profound journey that challenges your worldview. The author expertly tackles mental health, using the title as a metaphor for our inner voices. The character-driven narrative is both engaging and enlightening, enhanced by innovative storytelling techniques. I highly recommend this book for its vital commentary on mental health awareness.
