The idea of writing about myself is about as exciting as watching paint dry. I know what you are thinking but you are an author. To be honest, I'm just like you, a regular guy/gal that lives in the Midwest. I'm married with two amazing kids(most days) and one very energetic rescued dog named Maggie. If I am not working on new tales of horror then you can usually find me on a motorcycle hauling a$$ down the highway or working on a new recipe with my daughter. The stories I write will make you think that I get some sort of sick pleasure stringing you along page after page...well, I do, but it's cheaper than therapy. I have been releasing since 2014 and still have a lot of nightmares up my sleeve yet to write.

CW: Gore, sexism, swearing
Book 12 in my Zombie-a-thon!
Look, this is a fun Zombie series in terms of the actual zombies and it captures the chaos of an apocalypse very well. The story itself is quite disjointed as it darts from POV to POV and I don't feel particularly connected to any of the characters as a result. The grunting male types protecting their women are also starting to get on my nerve given they are out there slaying zombies as well. Will read one more in this series as the books are very short.

Each book in this emotionally charged, character driven series just ramps up the action and the horrific fight for survival. Now on to the 4th book in this edge of your seat series.

Evans opens this novel by introducing a new resident of the block, a physical education teacher who has to figure out what to do when his students start turning into zombies. He’s a good character and the reader can certainly empathize with his situation.
Others of the cast return as well, especially Mike who leaves all the kids he has rescued and been protecting so that he can attempt to reach his parents (introduced in book two) and make certain that they are safe. I understand his concern for his parents, but honestly, he left his kids and a bunch of neighborhood kids during the zombie apocalypse. I love my parents, but I doubt very much if they would have thanked me for abandoning my child in the zombie apocalypse to try and cross town to rescue them.
Anyway, lots of action, and a fun storyline.

Good Read
The story is good but now starting to be all over the place. We've got a few stories going on so it got a little confusing. I'm praying Michael makes it because it's not looking too good for his wife (whose name I forgot). It looks like Mike may get stuck with all the neighbors kids because their parents are having issues getting home. I'm feeling like Mike his dad and kids may make it through the apocalypse since they're somewhat prepared. I'm still enjoying the story even though there's several characters to remember. The author has his children writing shorties which we get in the end. That's something different.

Fantastic!
The best one so far! I have read this author and this is my favorite series. Putting himself as a fictional character has made this story line even more relatable. Matt the middle school teacher had me laughing! His thoughts and feelings as a teacher were spot on! The race to save others and get to a safe spot continues and boy is it a thrilling read. The humor is executed perfectly. I cannot wait for the next one! My only complaint is "How can you leave me waiting and Michael too?"

I really enjoy this series. I love that Mike wrote this one with family, friends, and neighbors in it. Although, he has killed off a few. Lol. Of course, we were are left with a cliffhanger, but luckily I own the next 5 books, so I’m good. Letting his kids write chapters of books is my favorite way to end his books. Great job Jake Evans. Looking forward to reading more from you, Emily, and of course your dad.

Better and better
The Evans family and assorted friends and neighbors are trying to survive the purple apocalypse. Hold up in their home, Mike determines to go fetch his aging parents and bring them to safety. These great characters lead the pack when necessary. Learning how to handle the purple cannibals is a good goal, A better goal would be to learn how to kill them without getting bit.
Great storyline, great characters, amazing action! What more could you ask? Great read!

Outstanding
Action packed from beginning to end! Mike Evans has given me another series that I can't put down! I am enjoying reading about the family and neighbors trying to get back home while trying to avoid the purple zombies. The kids getting into the writing act at the end love it

Feels like a cliffhanger peach story

Great tead
I chose this book because of the title, and after reading 2 books chose this rating because of the fast paced story writing that is believable and new books coming out so you still follow the plot for each group that you started with.

Great series
Great series, books read really fast. Too short in my opinion, but can’t wait to read more. Zombies on the Block has been great so far!

Great cast of characters with an intertwined story full of zombie goodness. If you haven't read any of this series, I highly recommend it.

Wow! Great read. The character development is awesome, including the dogs. Mr. Evans ramped up the horror in this series, yes my heart was pounding. I immediately started reading the next book in the series. Read this book

I'm invested in the story now, and will read the next one, only because it's on KU. But, yowza! This entire series really needs an editor, or even just some Beta readers who are good at catching problems.
There are several continuity issues, again, where we're told characters are in one place, but aren't, characters names are used in the wrong places, thoughts stop abruptly, and the ongoing typos. If you can overlook all of this and go along for the ride, it isn't bad, but they annoy me.
The author tends to use the same injuries repeatedly, i.e. Achilles tendon, and the same zombie descriptions, there's at least one 300 lb zombie in each book.
However, even with these problems I'm kinda hooked now, lol.
