I have to admit, I bought the book because I thought the title was catchy and I loved the cover.

It was when I read the back cover describing the various types of marriages the last being,"Then there are those marriages that become the subject of books." I knew I was not alone and had made a good choice.

The Aardvard's Wife takes us though one woman's struggle to be understood and find out why the pilot light was never lit in her marriage. The courage to expose her personal findings and write about her journey has showed us that there are many women fighting this battle every day.

Even though my husband does not have AS, mental illness can make us feel like we are alone in the craziness. I laughed with Carolyn in her vivid observations and I cried, one night I even held my pillow in dispair that someone would have to spend so many years alone in a marriage with a huck of meat laying next to them. I felt her pain through the pages but a comfort in knowing I was not alone. It is so easy to label something as stress or menopause or "the times" but isn't it nice to know that there are actually women out there that will "write" to the edge, so that we can have a greater understanding of ourselves, our partners and our marriages?

If you're looking for a "feel good" love story--this isn't it. But it isn't meant to be. This is not an easy book to read, not because of how it was written, but rather the subject matter. It doesn't pull any punches when describing the author's struggles to live with and understand a man with Asperger's.

The book is extremely well written and researched. I applaud Carolynn for having the courage to share her story and shed light on this oft misunderstood disorder.

It’s been a very long time since I’ve read a go-away-and-leave-me-alone-I-can’t-stop-reading book, but that’s exactly what Carolynn Woods’ THE AARDVARK’S WIFE is. And I dare anyone to try putting it down before the THE END.

It’s that good!

THE AARDVARK’S WIFE is Ms. Woods’ story of her marriage to a brilliant and handsome man who has Asperger’s Syndrome. Stuck in a very confusing union, Ms. Wood’s endures an emotionless husband who is unable to show affection or compassion, is socially disconnected, and is prone to violent, disturbing outbursts. Unable to find help to understand her life with a detached husband who is incapable of touching her or even making eye contact with her, Carolynn is determined to find her own answers.

Ms. Woods takes us on a painful journey of self-help and healing—and leaves an in-depth guide for anyone who needs help in coping with an AS spouse. Thank you, Ms. Woods, for sharing your very personal grief with us. You are so brave.
