Losing a child is an experience beyond this world. In her seminal work, The Flight, Cammie Wolf Rice shatters reality - and in the process reshapes our perspectives on pain, suffering and the meaning of it all. The Flight displays her struggle to make sense of losing her son to opioids. In this journey, you will find your own. All of the author's proceeds will be donated to Christopher Wolf Crusade.
I would recommend this book to any parent who has suffered thel loss of one of their children. I would recommend this be a reading assignment in Jr high. I'd like to see more expansion on the bullying because that too often is overlooked. The bullies supply the drugs with the fentanyl that kills. After just losing my nephew at 41 to fentanyl, this was a must read for me. Hid addiction also started with a damaged back and endless opioid s. He is now in heaven with Christopher and I believe they will form their own group. These children were loved by so many, yet some scum wanted the 200 dollars and cared not about their lives. Cammie did an excellent job and ill be purchasing this as gifts to my devastated family who couldn't fix my nephews addiction either. If there is a secure website or a way to donate I would be very interested. Perhaps we can put a no tolerance policy on bullying . it really destroys ones soul. Thank you for a beautiful read. I hope someday to sit on that plane headed for peace. This was phenomenal. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and God Bless!
The Flight by Cammie Wolf Rice is available now in eBook and Physical Book ⭐️⭐️⭐⭐⭐ Book Review
The Flight, My Opioid Journey is written by a mother who lost her son to an opioid addiction. I am speechless after reading this memoir. As a nurse who has witnessed opioid addiction and as a sister who has witnessed her brother go through an opioid addiction I was able to stop and think about this journey from a few different perspectives. I found myself stopping to cry and then process what I had just read. The courage it took for Cammie to write this book and share her journey of pain and suffering is amazing. I actually read this book about a month ago but felt that I didn't have the right words to write this review and give it the justice it so very much deserves. I am so thankful that Cammie put her experiences on paper for many to read and understand the struggles with opioid addiction. No matter what side of the addiction you are facing/witnessing, the struggle is real. People are losing their loved ones in so many ways to this horrific addiction. Thank you Cammie for sharing your journey and educating the world.
This is such a beautifully written, yet hard to read, book. I cried pretty much the whole time. The author brilliantly describes her son's opioid addiction, including how it started with medication prescribed by a doctor. She addresses how hard this situation is for those who love the addicted person, as well as how hard it is to finally let go. She covers the transition from medically-mandated opioid usage to dealer-enabled usage. This book runs the gamut of emotions, from guilt to fear to love. Anyone who is dealing with this situation (or has in the past) should absolutely read this book. Even those who haven't been touched by the opioid crises could learn a lot, and maybe find a way to be part of the solution.
A mother's brutally honest story about her son's journey into opioid addiction. Her beautiful, intelligent son who had to have surgery for a medical issue and was prescribed opioids for pain which started his spiral into addiction. Cammie's support, never ending love, and the strength she found within were not enough to save her son. Opioid addiction is a major problem in today's world and her story is one everyone should read. With compassion and empathy she has gone on to fight the battle of addiction and to educate others by telling her story. Highly recommend!
Cammie, just speechless. The analogies, the emotions in your voice (even in 2.2 times speed😉), everything, I can’t describe everything I felt while listening to this! Yes, I read it during my clinical training as a Life Care Specialist, but I love audiobooks, especially when read by the authors. I love love love this! And the work CWC Alliance!
Such a heartfelt, compelling, authentic, poignant, and powerful read, & written with such immense love - I could not put The Flight down and finished it in two long sittings. Thank you so much to the author for sharing her incredible story, and for inspiring so many to take action against the opioid crisis that has devastated so many families and local communities. I have shared this book with colleagues, friends and family, and will continue to do so.
