I love Kate’s books and this one is one of her best. I had to stay up to finish reading it as I couldn’t put it down. Kate takes a topical subject, romance cons, and makes it into a story of determination, revenge, sadness, challenge and hope. After Laura’s mother dies and Laura is dealing with her own mental health issues, she signs up to a dating agency in the hope of finding companionship. Unfortunately she is conned and suffers the despair that goes with it. Not content to let it lie, she is determined to fight back. What follows is a wonderful tale of determination and challenge to make sure the conman doesn’t get away with it. Brilliantly written with lots of great description. A must read for anyone who enjoys physiological thrillers!
Tinker Tailor Conman is a great psychological crime thriller that is partially based upon a true story.
This book captured my interest from the start and kept me on the edge of my seat as Laura looks for closure and vengeance on a conman. This storyline is well written and flows nicely, depicting only too well how a conman can take full advantage of someone who desperately wants something to believe in. There is sorrow, heartbreak, drama, suspense, and vengeance, making this a must-read.
I am looking forward to reading more books by this author. I read and reviewed this book with no obligation.
I really enjoyed this book. And felt empathy for the characters, also knowing that the situation has happened in real people’s lives at least some of it. I’ve also experienced some scammers on a pen pal site, after I was widowed suddenly, but there were a lot of good people too. The slight downside for me was quite a few typos.
