The heart-warming new novel from the Sunday Times bestselling author of A Long and Lonely Road and The Cuckoo Child . Sylvie’s husband is in prison and she is in danger herself, so she leaves Liverpool for Dublin with the help of young Constable Brendan O’Hara.

Katie Flynn was born in Norwich and attended Norwich High School, where she was extremely happy and extremely undistinguished. Published at the tender age of eight, in Enid Blyton's Sunny Stories, she joined a Writers’ Circle as an adult, publishing short stories, articles, etc; only turning to novels in 1971 because the postal strike cut off her main source of income! At first she wrote under several different names – Judith Saxton, Judy Turner, Lydia Balmain, Judith Arden – but her Katie Flynn books were a delight to write and proved far more popular than she had dreamed. She has now published nearly ninety novels, twenty-seven of which are Flynns. Her most recent titles are: Lost Days of Summer and Christmas Wishes.
I don't understand why so many of Katie Flynn's books end up in the charity shop, because I think her writing is beautiful. Her characters are so realistic - the sweet hearted policeman Brendan, the woman he saves - Sylvie, fiery Maeve. Flynn doesn't rush the plot but takes time to slowly develop it and the characters. Great literature.
More like a soap than a novel, with dramatic scenes (a bit clichéd at times) and some rather flat minor characters who come and go as needed. But equally there were a few likeable and believable characters, and it was well-written, interesting and realistic without being gory or horrific. Pleasant enough light read overall.
Another great book from Katie Flynn a story of love heartbreak and happy endings very sad in some parts like the death of the main characters husband and daughter but read on and there's lots of twist and turns highly worth a read as all of Katie Flynn's books
This book is not the best Katie Flynn I’ve read. I thought it was a bit slow to start but towards the end it was addictive reading... couldn’t wait to see what happened next
