A New Class, New Skills, New But Will It Be Enough? Life is tough on Yetera, and only growing tougher. Joseph hasn't escaped the apocalypse just yet and humanity's time on Yetera is running out. A new class, new skills, and a world of endless troubles. Can Joseph persevere with danger lurking at every turn? Will Yetera fall? The concluding volume to the best-selling RPG Apocalypse series.
Really great series with so much potential. But the very abrupt death of Joseph's party at the end of book 2? That told me the author was bored of this series and bored with the characters. book 3 was like a training montage without all the filler scenes that make it worthwhile. A whole year of training wrapped up in one or two chapters? Yeah, you just wanted to wrap this up and make a nice neat ending. Which is fine, but book 3 could have easily been broken up into two more books. I just felt like the author grew bored of this project and wanted to move on. Great story and potential, didn't stick the landing.
Still enjoyable (if you are bored like me), but also somewhat rushed and uninspired. It felt as if the author lost interest in having the protagonist enjoy the adventurer life, exploring the world. I guess I should have seen that coming after his teammates were killed off at the end of book 2. But the protagonist doesn't waste much time and goes on a solo leveling rampage to level up hard. Following this, he becomes buddy-buddy with some top dogs. Becuase he's special, he gets special treatment and also some unwanted attention from haters. This is where the problems start (for me). Too many time-skips and powerleveling stuff made me lose connection to the protagonist, somewhat. Worse is that it only happened so he can join the top dogs of the guilds. He leveled hard, fast, and easy. It felt unrewarding to read about it. Well, and the drop rate of loot was crap. He farmed exp all the way up to level 51 and still runs around with his gear from the noob days? The excuse for the crappy drop rate was also lame. My LitRPG enthusiasm took a heavy blow from this.
So, I think the author lost interest in the LitRPG elements of the story, not bothering anymore to introduce interesting loot, mechanics, adventurer action stuff, etc. The tempo of the story increased and switched to the generic 'protagonist with special powers must save the world' act, focusing on that instead (hard, ignoring most other elements). The only LitRPG element left was the protagonist looking at his system info thingy to see how much exp to the next level, and how much mana & health he gained from his special skill.
In the end, the protagonist saved the world and everything became alright again. It wasn't really satisfying the way it happened, but the end of the story was okay, I guess. I felt happy for Veronica.
Books 1 and 2 were both good, so I was excited to read book three. The author's writing is getting better, and the action scenes are tighter than they were in book one.
The book starts out with Joseph (the MC) lamenting the loss of his team. I've read a lot of books between books 2 and 3, so I didn't remember any of this. Fortunately, he does move on and finds his fighting spirit. It is then he decides to change his class, and that defines the rest of the book. I don't want to spoil anything because book three wraps up the series in a nice way.
Joe is a loner here, and while he does interact with other people he usually fights on his own until we get to the very end.
The editing is not great, but not so bad that it took me out of the story. The stat sheets and notifications were easy to read and follow, and while they are frequent it's easy to move on and get back to the story without getting bogged down. Finally, I'll mention that book three is not on KU when I purchased it, which may disappoint some people.
I'm glad I read this, and I'm looking forward to the author's next series. I don't often go on Royal Road, so I'll wait for the book to come out instead.
The ending felt a bit contrived - not worthy of the rest of the book
I really enjoyed this whole book until the epilogue. That ending ruined the whole experience for me. Joseph grew so much, and had sacrificed and lost more than anyone else, and then for a convenient time reversal to take that all away felt like I was cheated.
Was the ability to level from Harvest Soul always there, and he just didn’t harvest enough before? Or was the World Eater special to give that kind of boost? Or did it happen to conveniently give Joseph the juice to finish things?
Holy crap, this book was a ride. I wanted to see how this series ended, and I'm glad I did. I was disappointed with the ending of the second book, but it served well.
Anyway. The ending of this was a bit abrupt, but it didn't make me want to hurl my Kindle across the room, like the last one did.
If you liked the first two, this is a good end to the series. That's about all there is to say.
I thought this series was really good, but the ending was basically the it was all a dream trope... endings that more or less undo the entire series are something i find extremely dissatisfying.
I also felt the plot points surrounding Marcus could have been more fleshed out.
Great ending to a good trilogy. Joseph escaped from the rainbow bird monster in 2, and is now in a jungle. He meets new adventurers and even joins a guild. Joseph then has to defeat the end boss and save both worlds.
This kept my attention, and yes there is typos but I'm fluent in those by now. Great series, and I'm reading Chambless' RR book now.
I enjoyed the class change Joseph went through and its utility. While I did not binge read it like the last two it is decent and am happy that the author gave an ending to the series. Would have kinda liked to learn more about the other classes and spells though, but that might just be me.
Really enjoyed this series. What a crazy ending, and even wrapped with a bow at the end! The continously building intensity throughout the whole book made this a hard one to put down.
Great way to tie up loose ends and satisfactorily end this series. A bit rushed but essence of the story was good and thankfully grimdark elements of previous 2 books was resolved.
This is a good ending to a fun story. Even though I kind of want to have more adventures in the magic world with the same character the story wrapping up makes sense. Glad I read it.
It was better but it had a rushed ad well overly filled feeling. You had so much content potential that could have been so much better if you broke it down in to say three sets trilogies instead of just three books. Honestly the end was kinda ok but kind of a let down.
Didn't end the way I would have expected, but no complaints, I like the way it turned out.The story ends up being pretty good, so don't hesitate to add this one to your reading shelves if you're a LitRPG fan, it's well worth the read.
The only thing that bugged me in the series was the portrayal of spiders. They are not insects. They don't have "hundreds of eyes". Other than that it was a great read.
Such a non-stop,action filled story! Loved the way it ended. The main characters were interesting and captivating. I couldn't stop reading. Very highly recommended.
Quite An Interesting Story. It was definitely different than what I was expecting.
Fun and interesting character growth. Some distinct turns I wasn’t expecting throughout. Definitely good progression in the story and overall character strength and development. I’m trying not to give too much away, it was especially really well done towards the end. I can’t wait to see more from this universe that has been created.
I so totally enjoyed all three of these books! I need to leave a review on the others. I just couldn't wait to start the next book. Needs a little editing, but so so good!
Pretty satisfactory ending , it would have been nice to know what happened to the rest of the team but you can't have everything , Joseph came good eventually but his selfish and immature behaviour made him an MC I simply couldn't get to like.
Read through the whole series in a few days well work my time. In some ways it was a very dark series but still managed to have a happy ending... mostly.
I really enjoyed this trilogy. Good storytelling. I enjoyed the journey and I'm glad it had such a satisfying ending. It actually wrapped up and ended. Love that.
An absolutte joy to read and a fitting finale. JC does created an ending that ties the story together. That can not have been easy. By now you know what you get... So get on with it and buy :)
