Brett Delaron, the reluctant heir to a sprawling southern Mississippi plantation finds himself ensnared in a series of grisly murders that threaten to tear his life apart. His father, Bull Delaron, the iron-willed patriarch of the fabled Delaron empire has all but excommunicated him. His beautifully demure Cajun bride struggles with her own suspicions of his culpability, and he suddenly finds himself to be an inexplicably expendable target. At stake, ultimately, is the fate of the six generation estate, its vast land holdings and unchallenged concentration of power -- and most importantly, control of the stunning secret that lies deep beneath an expansive but ominously improbable oxbow lake. Brett Delaron and his winsome wife just want to be let alone. But the tentacles of his predatory bloodline make escape all but impossible.

Get caught in the swirling currents of ambition and deceit

Family troubles and differing ambitions lead father and son to butt heads, add money and secrets in the mix, and you have a hot mess, but would it lead to murder? There are characters to love and hate, action and plot twists, some gratuitous sex and violence... this was a fun read. I recommend it!
