From USA Today bestselling author comes a reverse age gap, forbidden standalone romance.
At thirty-nine years old, I have my life together. I’m a successful photographer, own my own home, and thanks to a teenage pregnancy, I’m already an empty nester.
The only thing missing is love. And who has time for that?
That’s my thought process the day my daughter, Gracie, calls to tell me she’s bringing her roommate home with her for spring break.
Dax Shelton is charismatic, funny, and ridiculously sexy. And for some reason, whenever I’m with him, he aims all that charm my way.
I try to keep my space and not take him seriously, but when he pins me against the kitchen counter and whispers all the dirty things he wants to do to me, I can’t ignore him any longer.
So, at thirty-nine years old, I have a secret fling with a man seventeen years my junior. Or at least I think it’s just a fling until our late nights become less about sex and more about our feelings, and I accidentally fall in love with my daughter’s roommate.
Things are about to get messy. Not only because Gracie won’t understand how I let this happen but because she’s in love with him too.

This book was a really fun time! I think the idea of the Songs of Sin collab is a great idea from the jump and I can't wait to read more of them.
I was a huge fan of the song Stacy's Mom when I was a teen and Gracie's Mom definitely brings the feel of it to life. That naughty edge of falling for your friend's mom and knowing you could be the one for her... this book hits it right on the nose. Dax has been biding his time while he lusted after and dreamed about making Abby his woman. She thinks he is not thinking straight or this is a joke... but Dax is far from kidding around.
The chemistry is sizzling in this one and Dax is relentless in pursuit of what he wants. I was actually a bit annoyed with Abby for giving him such a hard time. Haha! But I understand and this book was fun and steamy all the way through.
My only little ding is near the end of this book... I kind of wish it was either expanded a bit more to make Abby's reluctance more fleshed out, because I didn't see it... or else if we had just cut some of that out all together.
Over all, this is a great book if you are a fan of Reverse Age Gaps, Older Women, or Best Friend's Mom romances.
Dax Shelton may only be 22 years old, but he is all man when it comes to Abby!
At first glance, or maybe on the surface is a better phrase, this book might come across as a #taboo #kinky treat, and while it is both taboo and quite kinky, it is also way more than that! This is not a #sexfest although these two are fire when they come together, and they do come ;) together often! I wasn’t expecting it but it was definitely welcomed! Dax and Abby’s journey was sexy and flirty with depth and realism. If you enjoy age-gap romances, this story should tick your box for sure!
Smutty, forbidden age gaps are my favorite flavor, and what a super fun premise for this series- song titles and developing them into steamy short novels. Clearly the inspiration for this is Stacy…now Gracie’s….Mom, and she certainly has got it going on, at least to Dax. Dax has been longing for his roommate’s mom, Abby, for a while- but the only issue is she’s well his senior AND his bestie/roomie finally wants to shoot her shot with Dax, who has her friendzoned from the day they met.
This is fun, sexy, and definitely forbidden. I love how persistently Dax pursues Abby- and how restorative that was for her in finally finding a man worthy of her- one who sees her, even if he’s may years younger. The tension with their secret fling and Gracie’s growing feelings certainly makes for some awkwardness (and truthfully, I felt her), which makes Abby hard to win.
This is fun, fast, lusty- a fast and entertaining read. The ending and characters certainly could be expanded more- but this is a shorter novel by design, and it’s all in good fun.
So... Misty Walker throws us at the center of the story immediately. Dax doesn't play around indeed 😏 He is done waiting to have the woman of his dreams. There's just one problem: the woman he wants is his best friend's mom. Abby has been a single mother for almost her life; she'd anything for her daughter... so falling in love with her crush should have never happened. But how she can resist Dax?!
First of all I love reverse age gap, it’s a nice change for once. Dax, despite his age, is very mature and I really liked his determination, and how bossy he can be in certain situations 😏😏 Abby is real. She has all those insecurities every woman has, and it felt easy relate with her. The two of them together were amazing. And it was a pleasure read their story. A bit of drama here and there made everything more interesting. I would have liked a longer epilogue, but apart from that the book is really good and so easy-to-read you don’t even know how you finished it so fast. Definitely recommended 😌
Also, the guy on the cover? So cute and perfect as Dax. K. Webster did the cover and she did it perfectly. I had fun reading this book. I loved that Dax was the pursuer and Abby, Gracie's mom, tried to not give in. Of course, Dax is relentless and sexy so when she did let go it was HOT. Even though you know you're not getting through the book without Gracie finding out it was totally worth the ride!
I've recently discovered something about myself... I've always liked guys that were younger than me, by a few years or so. However, I believe if I wasn't happily (mostly) to my husband of 20 years that I would, in fact, be a Cougar. A Proud to Be Cougar. I mean how can you not be...
So, I typically don't like age gaps (except for historicals). Whether the man or woman is older, its just not my jam. However, I wanted to give this a try cause I love the song Stacy's Mom. I thought overall the first part of the book was really good, and then I fell apart for me around the time Gracie found out.
I liked how they both were kinda into each other before this. It wasn't an all of a sudden thing. I also thought all of Abby's worries and concerns were real, and the way Dax countered them made sense. It also didn't feel like an age gap. Like that fact was just an element of it but not the story itself.
Where it lost me was after Gracie found out. First of all, I wasn't a fan of how quickly she forgave them. I understand it was a month book time, but we just skipped all that and jumped straight to where she forgives them. I also didn't like that Abby and Dax got engaged at the end. I know they've been into each other for awhile, but they have only been seeing each other for like a month or two, half of which they were broken up, and they are also getting married in a month. It felt like after they got to the relationship it just moved too fast.
Dax is in love with his room mates's mother. She also has the hots for him (in secret). Eventually Dax makes a move but this is all complicated by the fact that his room mate is also in love/lust with him.
Awkward and secretive times ensue.
Honestly, I just didn't buy it. I love a reverse age gap (she was 39, he was 22) but she had never had sex with anyone but her husband. It was apparently awful and she got pregnant the first time they had sex. Got married and he proceeded to cheat on her and their sex was never good. There were some inconsistencies in the timeline - I was never really sure how long ago they divorced which was kind of annoying. This really just read as horny, young guy seducing older woman. I never felt like Dax showed her his love. It was just all about fucking and then there was that weird 'dominance' bit thrown in that also didn't gel for me.
There was just a lot of telling everywhere that I felt could have been better handled with some memories of bad sex not just her telling us it was awful in an internal monologue.
Love Misty’s books and how she leaves nothing off the table when she writes. High steam, great plots and hits every button. An auto buy for me. I loved her MC series and this new series is great as well!
Listen, if I didn't have a job I'd have devoured this in hours. But, alas, the ol' grind called me and said I had to work.
So, I did what everyone does, I read during every single piece of downtime I could find. Which wasn't as much as I wanted since this took nearly three days to read but it was worth every second.
Because Gracie's Mom... she had it goin' on.
And Dax?
Well, I couldn't get enough of that dirty mouth and the filthy things he'd say. I was here for ALL OF IT.
This is a fun and sexy *slightly* taboo read featuring a lovely divorcee named Abby, her daughter Gracie, and Gracie's studly co-ed roommate, Dax. In a desperate attempt to get closer to Dax, Gracie invites him back to her mom's home for spring break, without knowing that both her mom and Dax have been harboring secret crushes on the other for 4 years. When Dax acts on his feelings during a moment alone, it unleashes feelings in Abby she has done her best to repress. This book is a reverse age-gap love story that is hotter than hot. I loved the intensity of their romance and feelings towards one another, the scorching level of spice, and the drama that unfolds page after page. Misty Walker is such a good writer and her stories are always full of interesting and real characters with well thought out backstories and histories, and flaws--making you appreciate the story and world they occupy even more. 5 well deserved stars!
I absolutely adored this super sexy, naughty, taboo story! It also has a lot of emotions, Abby and Dax’s connection has depth. It’s not “just taboo” (I love taboo, no judgment if it had been). It’s starts out fun and titillating. I loved the sneaking around, the anticipation of them possibly being “caught” intensified their steam/ heat factor and kept me completely engaged. And heated, it is so very HOT! It takes some serious turns and it has a bit of angst throughout. I love the characters so much, it’s a fun and steam heavy story. I love that Dax is alpha, confident and aggressive (in a very sexy way) with Abby even though he’s the much younger person. I loved that there is tenderness and sweetness amongst all the naughty sex. I loved the difference in their sexual experiences in life and how they played out between them. This is an absolute winner! LOVE IT!
Two stars for the beginning. The ending was weird.
The ages were fine for me since gracies mom had Gracie young and the boy toy is 22. But don't worry folks, his parents left him lots of money when they died so he's not living in his moms basement 👍✌they meet when Gracie is roommates with the boy toy and they feel zings in their nether regions from how hot they both are. But Gracie is waiting for her shot to eff her roommate too. So.....yeah. Gracie thinks that he doesn't want any relationship since he wants to concentrate on.school but its just because he wants to eff the her mom. Cool.
There is a lot of talk from h about their age difference and how this will work and what people would think and if they would have kids again and it got on my nerves.
Then at the end, Gracie tries to eff him anyway and confusion!!!!! Hurt!!!! Betrayal!!!! 😂🤦🤦
But she gets over it with a Taylor swiftness and doesn't mind when their relationship comes out.
I......won't be reading this again 😂😐 evar.

This one was a good read. Before reading this one, I hadn't read anything by this author before, but the blurb had me wanting to read it. Abby is a single mom to a young adult daughter, Gracie. Gracie is at college, and Dax is her roommate. Abby and Dax have met before, and there is an attraction there. Abby doesn't think about acting on it, but Dax also is attracted to her, and with college graduation coming up, he decides to make his move. He's confident but not cocky. I liked him. He has a good head on his shoulders and isn't the typical; young twenty-year-old. Abby is not too keen on starting a relationship with Dax, but he is persistent. These two have many steamy scenes. They have issues to overcome, but their relationship seemed perfect for them and I was rooting for them.
This story was deliciously perfect. It’s a forbidden, reverse age-gap romance that kept me continually smiling and then needing to stop and cool down from all of the heat seeping out of the pages.
I instantly fell in love with Gracie’s mom, Abby. She’s fierce, strong, independent but with a soft and sweet side to her. I love how she has this innocent crush on her daughter’s roommate that she thinks nothing of until Dax starts to show some interest.
Dax is so fun, sweet and sexy. He is dead set on making Abby his and I loved every deliciously filthy thing he said or did to convince Abby to give into him.
Abby and Dax were explosive in everyway. The chemistry they have just oozed off the pages and had my heart racing and my panties melting. I could not get enough of them.
This story was well written with such amazing characters that you can’t help but fall in love with, and with a storyline that is emotional, drama filled, sweet, fun and deliciously sexy. I loved every second of it and can’t wait to see what this amazing author brings us next.
On the tail end of one reverse age gap romance, I eagerly started GRACIE’S MOM. With this one having a much larger gap and this also being a new to me author, I felt a little uneasy. Which is ridiculous. Because never have I felt uneasy when it’s the man that’s 17yrs older. But once I dived in, the way the author created their tale, all that unease melted away. The author truly did a great job in telling their story and giving us a wonderful page turner of a book.
The cover, to me, was a little misleading. Not in a bad way. It’s just I kept expecting a manhoe of a kid, pursuing Abby with no real feelings to back him up. That’s what the boy on the front speaks to me. But the man we got was no kid. He wasn’t immature or even a player. He knew what he wanted and he wanted Abby. He was all man in every fabulous way.
How their story played out was exactly how I would have wanted it. It was perfectly done and absolutely swoony. I hated some things that happened throughout, namely what happened to Dax. But in the end, it all worked out and I was treated to a great read by a new to me author. I will definitely be reading more of her books. 5 Stars!
“Four years is a long time to hold yourself back. At this point, I have the fortitude of a saint. But my self-control is waning, and now that I’ve made my decision, I don’t want to wait any longer.”
Dax. Gracie’s roommate from college. They’re in their last year of college and best friends. Only because Gracie was friend-zoned immediately but she’s got a crush on him. Dax though? Dax has been crushing on Gracie’s mom since the moment he’s laid eyes on Abby four years ago.
This entire book I was singing:
“Stacy's mom has got it goin' on She's all I want And I've waited for so long Stacy, can't you see? You're just not the girl for me I know it might be wrong but I'm in love with Stacy's mom” - Fountains of Wayne
😂😂😂😂😂
Dax is invited to stay with Gracie and Abby on spring break and Dax is done waiting. He’s graduating soon and about to take over the business his parents left him after they died. He’s mature and feels like he’s ready to make a serious and permanent commitment to Abby. She’s the one. He’s known for a long time now. “This is happening. We can go as slow or as fast as you like because I get that it’s going to be for you to tell Gracie. But I have waited for four years, and I’m not waiting any longer to have you.“
Abby has been a single mom and she’s poured everything into her daughter. Gracie is her world. It’s really complicated when she knows that her daughter has a crush on Dax. But Dax has been the first guy in Abby‘s life that has truly made her feel wanted and special. Their connection is something that everyone deserves in a relationship. It’s just a complicated situation with it being her daughters friend and roommate and secret crush.
It was honestly really hard to NOT put myself in Gracie’s position. Because when everything comes out in the open, I don’t know if I could be around my parent who is dating a friend of mine. It’s a really …. Interesting situation….
It does leave off on a HEA. A believable one? Nah. But this is fictional romance and I freaking enjoying the heck out of this spicy reverse age gap romance!
This was a delicious naughty treat and just what I need to cheer me up. Abby is a young lonely divorcee who has had a crush on her daughter's roommate. When he comes home with her for the holidays the fun really begins when he makes clear he feels the same. Dax is the one that does all the running, not gonna lie I loved his persistence and the way he compliments and reassures her. The complication is that Gracie her daughter also has a crush on Dax which is all kind of awkward. This is a hot passionate read with a dirty talking sexy younger man who has been waiting for his chance. I loved the drama that exists between the three especially during those stolen moments. The tension comes from waiting for the inevitable to happen and how they all handle the fallout.
If you are looking for a spicy sexy read this one is for you.
I haven't read many of Misty's books, but when she announced this one, I knew that it was one that I'd have to read. I'm so glad that I did. I pushed this one to the top of my TBR and devoured it as quickly as possible. It was such a great story, and I loved seeing Dax and Abby's relationship progress. Misty certainly did not disappoint with this book.
Phew!! What an amazing read! Gracie’s Mom was emotional and passionate! The innocence that Abby portrayed, and the confidence that Dax had made for a fun and exciting book! Awesome story!!
REREAD June 2025: I kept hearing the song Jessie's Girl and it made me want to re-read this book. I like how they are together. I also like the OW drama with the daughter. I see there are those that think the mom was selfish, shallow etc, but she's doted on her daughter, and as she comes to realize, her daughter is an adult and they should each be a little more independent. If Dax sees Abby as the love of his life, and she has come to accept and feel that also, why should they give that up because the daughter has a crush? Dax has made it VERY clear he does not return and only wants to be friends. The scenes with these two are hot. Misty does a good job of helping us feel Dax's rejection and mix of emotions after the breakup. Will probably re-read this in the future.
4.5 stars Living in the PNW, books set here are a draw for new, especially if the author captures local flavour or details. This is my first book by Misty, but not my last.
She wrote a great reverse age gap, daughter's best friend/crush and Mom romance. Is the right blend of sweet and very spicy. There was just enough drama to keep it interesting and in realistic. There was some funny cringe moments between the two roommates. I appreciated that the relationship started fairly soon in the book and that while there was a little bits age insecurities, they weren't a key issues le some books and Abby was able to accept the genuine interest from Dax.
I love Dax determination to win Abby. I appreciate needing to respect your child's opinion and Foster those relationships, but at what cost to your own happiness? I'm glad he made it clear to Grace that he loved her mom and was going to be with her and would prefer that Grace gave them their blessing but that he was still going to try anyway.
I was super excited to dive into this new series and as a self-proclaimed forbidden romance junkie, I've got to say it did not disappoint! This book was lots of fun, full of heart and sinfully steamy. Dax and Abby were a great couple with amazing chemistry. The sparks fly and heartstrings are tugged on as their relationship evolves. Sweet, cute, funny, swoon worthy and rich with tension and juicy drama, this book was sinfully super! I am posting an independent, impartial review.
That's it, Misty Walker! I officially hate you for creating Dax! I mean, come oooon he's too dang yummy, every single lady above thirty need her own Dax! Lol
This man, yes i said MAN for this twenty two year old man for he is that! A real man who know what he wants and pursued them until he gets them. And he wants Gracie's mom.
And Abby, i love her. As a single mom, she doesnt have the luxury to think for her own need and happiness. Got pregnant at seventeen, Abby is a fighter for she have to raise her daughter alone without any family support. Until Dax.
This book may sounds taboo and dirty, but Dax and Abby's relationship and chemistry is actually sweet. Oh yeah, their smegsi scenes are burning my sheets. His dominant, dirty words and absolutely filthy minds got my gear running hot in every single page! But, i love their angst too.
I even feel heartbroken when Dax said, "bye, baby... "
Gracie’s mom has got it going on….. Haven’t been able to get Stacy’s mom out of my head since I started reading this book! Reverse age gap stories are one of my favorite tropes. There is something about an older woman & a younger man that is really hot to me. And this story doesn’t disappoint! Dax is Gracie’s roommate. Gracie has been pining after Dax for a while. Little did she know that Dax was pining after her mom. Gracie’s mom, Abby, did her best to fight her attraction to Dax. Happy she finally gave into her desire. Abby & Dax are so sexy together.
ARC READ. I picked this ARC because I'd read some of the author's work before and I really like the reverse age gap trope. I don't know the song the title is based on but it's a catchy title for a forbidden reverse age gap book! This was an entertaining book.
Abby is a 39-year-old successful photographer, who thought she has everything she ever wanted, by owning her own home, and was a teenage mom to her daughter Gracie, who has flown the nest. When Gracie brings her roommate home for spring break, Abby meets Dax, who is sexy, funny, and charming There is an intense connection between them, and the chemistry is undeniable. This is a well written story which is an older woman / younger man romance, with emotions, fun, family, friendships, humor, witty banter, and love, which leads to a compelling page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
