Alia My son’s hot football coach is driving me to distraction. Terrorists killed my husband five years ago, now I’m focused on raising our two boys and giving innocent people a voice. I am not looking for a relationship, but wouldn’t mind a good roll in the hay with the sexy giant of a man my boys call coach.
Razor I don’t have time for any distractions right now, especially not the beautiful, curvy mother of my son’s best friend. My best friend Grif was tortured and killed before being dropped off on Valhalla. Now, I bide my time until I can avenge my brother’s death. Running my barber shop and coaching my son’s high school football team, pretending everything is fine… as I gather resources, put together a plan of vengeance.
Could a distraction be exactly what they both need?

The eighth story in this series was another excellent addition to the series. The story has passion, mystery, suspense, angst, strong alpha men, and equally solid and feisty females. I liked the characters, their interaction, and the journey they begin in a new relationship with Lance ‘Razor’ Gallagher and Alia.
Lance ‘Razor’ Gallagher is no longer in the Navy SEALs, where he was a sniper. Now, he is contracted as a sniper for an ‘off-the-books’ black ops CIA team. He has a barbershop, Razor’s Edge, where he has a regular day job. He is also raising his teenage son, who spends much of his time at the Robert’s home. Lance also is a football coach for the boys.
Alia Roberts is a widow. Her late husband, Charles, was killed in the line of duty. Alia is a criminal defense lawyer who does pro bono for the National Immigration Justice Project. She is raising two teenage high school boys in Colorado, where her parents had lived full time but are now snowbirds. She is very active in her boys’ lives and at all their games.
The story’s plot will have Razor believing his handler is dirty and wanting to get proof to take him down. Several vital former SEALs had died, and it all goes back to one man—Timothy Sean Clark. He will inform his friends at Valhalla of his suspensions and get them onboard. Since the death of Charles, with the move from the DC area to Colorado, Alia hasn’t had contact with her late husband’s former partner. But when she gets fifty emails with the same message and no signature in one day, it has her concerned, and she will reach out to Tim.
The truth will come to light, including how one man’s actions have led to the murder and destruction of so many people. While trying to uncover the evidence needed, Razor and Alia will take a road trip from Colorado to Virginia to check out the storage unit. It is time for Alia to sort through her late husband’s belongings finally and to see if, in the process, they can find a disc that is the proof alluded to in the email.
The story has the good, the bad, and the evil. The story has mystery, suspense, life and death, danger, and discoveries. It also has the beginnings of a new relationship. Two people with a past but willing to try and move forward. Razor had a lousy marriage, and Alia lost the man she loved. But isn’t it time to close those chapters in their lives and reach for happiness?
I liked the chemistry between Razor and Alia. They’ve been friends for many years, their sons are close friends, and there is a deep level of trust between them. Each has noticed the other but never done more—until now. Alia misses the physical relationship and sexual intimacy, and then these two get together; they rock each other’s world.
Alia: You know, this is backward, right? Razor: What do you mean? Alia: Normally, it’s the woman turning the man down. Razor: Oh, sweetheart, believe me, I’m not turning you down. I’m making sure I am what you want. I’m broken, and I’m scarred. I’m not a good man, Alia. Alia: I think you are confused, Lance. Razor: What do you mean? Alia: I’m not looking for a man to love. God knows I don’t need another relationship, I don’t have the time or the energy for one of those. I’m looking for a man to break my bed, not my heart.”
Valhalla is a place where retired Veterans work and live together helping newly discharged Veterans and some who are still in service do group activities. They Paws Your Six, which have dogs trained to be K-9s, or service dogs. They have therapists: behavioral, physical therapy, psychological etc. They have horse back riding, gardening and a bunch of other stuff to do as a gated community. Just the name- Valhalla drew me in and Paws your six, made me want to read the whole series, so I did.
I’m not much for BDSM, but the rest of the stories were great. Loads of action, romance and plot twists and it explained a lot of the background of BDSM. I don’t have those needs, but now I respect them and they are consenting adults and to each their own.
So far it was Jay and Natasha I enjoyed the most because Natasha was bullied and has PCOS like me. I enjoyed the storylines more, Bull was a fave too.
Razor, aka Lance, is a sniper SEAL and a fellow SEAL was killed earlier in the series and he wants revenge. He feels it’s his handler who has betrayed those who are still doing side jobs for the government. Lance is also a football coach and has a teenage son. He also runs Razor’s Edge, a barber shop.
Alia Roberts is a criminal defense lawyer, and during her free time helped with National Immigration Justice Project. She was also a mom of two high school boys. Her sons hang with Lance’s son Mike and his bestie Seth. An email brings up old and new wounds. Plots twists!
I loved this series and this book is now my favorite. I can’t wait for Dax’s book.

Captivating read with wonderful characters, fabulous scenario that will hold you riveted
This is a wonderful read that you will find yourself to be totally captivated by, in this particular story both Razor and Alia are older characters which put this read in a different perspective which makes this most interesting and enjoyable reading.
Razor owns a barber shop and work for the government still on cases that he decides are within his particular field of expertise. Alia is a widow that lost her husband when he was killed during a mission and she has found herself to be targeted by a killer.
He thinks that she has the information he needs and will do anything to accomplish his aims no matter if he has to kill her an more individuals, he will succeed at hi goal.
Razor knows that there is only one way he is going to get his gir back in one piece with as little harm as possible and so he calls in his old team of experts who stand and fight together, they are closer than family and more loyal than brothers in a fight to the death.
I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read. I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.

This is book 8 in the Veteran's of Valhalla series but it can be read as a standalone, although I do recommend reading the other books before this one as they do have interconnecting characters. In this one we get Razor's book. Razor and Alia are both older and have been through tough personal times, and are just trying to raise their kids to the best of their abilities. I really liked that this was an older couple that has been through some of the things that life can throw at you and are still doing what they need to do and moving on in their lives. They have a connection that is beyond just a physical chemistry, even if they try to deny it to themselves. I was really involved in the story line and liked how the suspense was there almost right from the start. So I liked most of the story and was really into most of it. But it does have some issues that threw me off. Like why does it end so abruptly? It almost felt like it should be a 2 part book but it isn't. My other issue, why were the emails made to be such a big deal but then there isn't any resolution involving them. It just turns into a non-issue, which just confused me and left me scratching my head. Everything else in this book, I really enjoyed. So for me, just minor things that threw me off and made me knock it down a little.
Wow What an emotional rollercoaster of a journey! As a author RJ Gray never ceases to amaze her fans as we read through her books and immerse ourselves within her stories and become attached to each and every character within their emotional exploration.
Razor & Alia’s story is book 8 in the Veterans of Valhalla series & although you can read each of the books as stand alone’s, I highly recommend to get the best out of each book you read as a series!
They are both single parents with teenage boys that are more like brothers & lead very intertwined busy lives that don’t have time for their own personal relationships (or is that just denial) and have worshipped each other from afar both respectfully and sexually for what seems like eternity both denying themselves what could be a very passionate heart & soul deep connection, a second chance at love & happiness.
When they are thrown together through personal circumstances for those they have lost, so ensues an organic joining of two very deserving characters brought together by tragedy.
Yet again another fantastic book, bringing in characters from previous books as the story develops!
*spoilers* Razor is an ex navy seal and now works in a special group. They suspect their former handler to be responsible for his friends death and much more. The highly suspected person happens to be the fromer partner of Alia's deceased husband and maybe his death what not what it seemed to be. After five years Alia is a very passionated and good lawyer with her own law firm and dedicated mother, but did not get involved with another man after her beloved husband died. She feels attracted to Razor and wise versa, both have reasons not to get involved. Then they are going on a trip to search for evidence... This was my first story by RJ Gray and I want more. The words used, like when describing how Alia feels the grief are chosen so beautiful. I was taken into the story and it was hard to put it down. The characters are drawn beautiful and the story line has suspense, love, just the right mix. I often had to figh with tears, really feeling what Alia felt. The dynamic between Lance and Alia is special. I loved the whole story and the last chapter metled me. This is one of the reasons I enjoy booksprout, made me discover this amazing author!.

This was a mixed read for me and I'm a bit confused, so this review may not make the most sense for anyone reading it, but here goes. I liked the story. It was great to have a romance with a slightly older couple, each with teenage children and their own businesses to run. I liked the writing and the interaction between Lance (Razor) and Alia - it was fun but also covered some deeper thoughts, such as divorce and becoming a widow. The story moved along at a nice pace, and although I might wish for longer stories from this author, this didn't feel rushed at all. However, there were some things that just didn't gel for me. **Spoilers** Firstly, Alia receives a number of emails all with the same subject line. We never find out who sent them. Secondly, the story ended so abruptly it almost felt unfinished. I kind of feel it ended on a HFN instead of a HEA. According to the author there will be a Christmas at Valhalla to come, so maybe there will be more in that, but I would have liked an epilogue to help tie things up. Overall I liked Razor, and it's only as I think about reviewing that I recognise that it's not perfect, and I know that the author has had a horrible 12 months, so my review isn't to unfairly condemn, but as recognition of both the good and the bad.
Amazing, complex story with fantastic characters, awesome chemistry and killer one-liners!
Razor is a former Navy SEAL, current contractor for hire, football coach and single father extraordinaire. He's a busy man to say the least. Deep in the throws of an off-books investigation to why so many of his former SEALs keep dying, he doesn't have the time, nor inclination for a relationship. But the curvy spitfire, Alia, sure is a temptation. She's the mother of his son's friend and the current spark in his life.
Alia is still mastering living without her husband who was killed 5 years ago, her busy career as a social justice attorney and a her insane life as a single mom; she doesn't have time to pay attention to the attraction between she and her kid's coach. But the spark will not be ignored. But in getting close, they learn there are some connections they didn't see coming!
Awesome story full of suspense, sizzle and spice! Razor and Alia were great together and the suspenseful storyline kept me on the edge of my seat! Can't wait to read more from this series!
Whew, this story came out of the gate swinging & never really slowed down. Lance, aka Razor, is former Navy SEAL sniper, but while he's not active service anymore, he is part of an off the books black ops team for the CIA in his spare time. However, what everyone sees is that he owns a barber shop, and coaches his son's football team (gotta love a multifaceted man). Alia is widowed after her husband's untimely death in a mission gone wrong, so these days she's just raising their teenage sons, and is very active in their lives. Logan & Alia have been crushing on each other, but neither has done anything about it to this point, but things change when she's caught in the crossfire of some dangerous things. It's been a slow burn situation until the cr*p hits the fan so the twists take off, and it's becoming clear that what he's seeking answers for & what's going on with her may be connected. I LOVED every moment of this story as RJ Gray has written an exciting story that I couldn't get enough of! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Razor is a killing machine, a sniper trained by the Navy Seals, an assassin for hire. But he's also a dad to a teenage boy, a business owner and a protective Daddy who is interested in his son's best friend's mom. Alia is a widow who is totally not interested in her sons' football coach, Nope, not at all, okay, maybe a little bit. It's been five years since her CIA husband was killed on the job so she just MIGHT be ready to explore something more. Of course life can't be easy and mystery and mayhem ensue and connections between Razor and Alia that they didn't even know existed threaten them both. I loved, loved, loved how protective Razor was and even though the only spent a short time together, this time was packed with a lot of getting to know each other. This story may be considered a bit of a slow burn, but burning it was. Great story.

He's retired from the military but not the government. He and an elite team of retired vets do what others can't. He's found out that all is not right and plans to find out why a team member was killed. It seems another member was taken out years ago and by the same people. Had he known too much?
Alia, the widow of their killed teammate years earlier, is more than interested in her sons' football coach. His son and her two boys all friends. She doesn't realize just how interested Razon is in her. They are thrown together to investigate her husband's and their other teammate's deaths.
While a short book, it is filled with actions, captivating characters, steam, danger, and plenty of action. This is the first book I've read in the series, however, I'll be reading more. Reviewed for Words Turn Me On
Razor’s Team is working on avenging the death of their team mate. The cartel is directly responsible, but someone else, a traitor, is pulling strings. Now Razor, sniper by trade, works in his barbershop by day, and coaches his sons football team in the evenings. Razor is divorced. Alia is a criminal defense lawyer, and single mom of two high school boys who are on that football team. Her husband was killed on a CIA mission. When danger intrudes, they become aware that perhaps Alia’s husband collected information on the very traitor Razor is hunting.
An edge-of-your-seat chain of events that bring these two together as they discover they have much in common, and sparks fly!
***** I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book *****
This is the eighth book in this amazing series, and this is Razor and Alia’s story. Alia is a widow who is raining her two sons alone, and Razor is ex-military, and he leads a busy life with running his barber shops, coaching his sone high school football team, and with his team, investigate the death on one of their brother-in-arms, which has Razor just biding his time before extracting vengeance. From the moment Razor and Alia meets at football practice, there is an intense connection, and the sparks fly. Did Alia’s husband have information of their murdered teammate? This is a well written story which has intrigue, danger, suspense, twists, action, grief, loss, healing, vengeance, and love, which leads to an entertaining and thrilling page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
This is the 8th book in this series and as expected it’s very good. Lance is an ex Navy SEAL, he’s raising his teenage son, now owns a barbershop and is a football coach for the boys. Alia is a widow, she’s raising two teenage high school boys and is a criminal defense lawyer who does pro bono for the National Immigration Justice Project. They’ve been friends for many years, their sons are close friends, there is a deep level of trust between them. Each has noticed the other but never done more—until now. Alia lost her husband five years ago, he worked for the CIA and was killed by terrorist. She moved from DC to Colorado to be near her parents, and worked on providing her two boys a stable home. She is not looking for another relationship but her son's football coach is one hot man.

RJ Gray has written another Valhalla winner! It's so nice to see a book with characters that look like me, for one. Second, Ms. Gray's intimate knowledge of military living during active duty and after retirement is incomparable. Alia and Lance are relatable, and both have baggage. They are drawn together in a way neither has experienced. It's beautiful. The bad guy is really bad again, and the overarching story that runs through the series is not yet resolved, but I know it will be. Because of that overarching story line, the series is best enjoyed read in order, not as stand alone books. Lance and Aria don't have an HEA yet, but they do have a happy for now. Like all of the books I've read by the author, this one is well worth the read.

Lance "Razor" Gallagher wears many hats; father, barber, football coach and CIA contract sniper. He's one of the best military snipers that ever was. Now he's on a mission to prove that his CIA handler is corrupt. Caught up in his quest is Alia Roberts; widow of a dead CIA operative, mother, criminal defense attorney and pro bono immigration attorney. Her connection to Lance is through her teenaged sons. He coaches her sons who are his son's best friends, in football. A mysterious email with stunning allegations about her husband's death has Alia pairing with Lance on a cross country trip to gather evidence. Along the way their attraction increases exponentially until they act on it leaving them both breathless. An assassination attempt, kisnapping, and the apprehension of a compromised government official round out this newest entry in the Veterans of Valhalla series.
I loved how this couple, two really wonderful people, were thrown together into a scary, incredible situation that would work out to capture a villain. They had great chemistry together but had such compatibility in other ways as well. Alia was a smart, independent woman and I loved the way her mind worked so logically and how she was able to trust Razor when presented with the facts about her husband's former work partner. I'm looking forward to the next book where I'm guessing they put all the pieces in place to put away the bad guy permanently. This book is fine to be read as a standalone but I enjoyed knowing the background and characters from the rest of the series.

This story drew me in from the first page. I love that Razor and Alia are older characters as I don't see a lot of that. The story is a slow burn but that's okay, you can't rush love when your life is in chaos. Razor owns a barber shop but he still works for the government on certain cases and he's determined to find out who killed a teammate. Alia lost her husband when he was killed and suddenly becomes the target of someone who thinks she has answers he wants. You know it has to be someone she knew but trying to uncover the answers may cost her her life. When she's taken, it's up to Razor and the rest of the team to find her before it's too late! Loved the outcome and I can't wait to see more from this series!!
I really enjoyed this story about Razor and Alia. Razor (Lance) is undercover working under the table for the ops team for the CIA to find a traitor but when not helping he owns the barber shop and volunteers as a coach for his son's football team. Alia is just raising her son's after her husband was killed in a mission that failed. Razor and Alia have been attracted to each other but have keep each other at arm's length. With the action Alia get caught up in some dangerous things. Will Razor help Alia get out of danger? Will Razor and Alia finally admit their love for one another? Great story.

Lance ("Razor") and Alia have known each other for several years as their sons are good friends. They were both attracted to the other, but Alia was mourning the death of her husband and wasn't ready.
Razor and Alia get to know each other a lot better on a road trip to see if they can find evidence to take down a corrupt CIA agent that is implicating Alia's dead husband and killed Razor's mentor.
While the book is short, the relationship between Lance and Alia is deep and meaningful. They are both a bit older and have sons in high school and know what they want and need in a partner.

Alia is a busy widow raising two sons, running a business after her husband was killed by terrorist. Razor (Lance) is a busy man, raising a son, coaching football seeking justice for the death of his brother in arms. Neither one of them need a relationship right now. But maybe it is is just what they need I enjoyed the relationship between Razor and Alia, and the action in the book. The widow getting over grief and widow in danger plots seems to almost get confused at times and it seemed like the book could have run a little bit longer. While the book could be read as a standalone I sense it might have been easier to read as part of the series.
This is the eigth book inthe Vahalla series. This js the story of older characters-Lance "Razor" and Alia. Razor has a day job- he owns a Barber shop, but he also does some work for the government, all while trying to raise a teenage son. His son spends alot of time with his friends- whose mother is Alia. Alia is a widow who puts alot of time and effort into being there for her two boys.
Razor and Alia are drawn together. With friendship comes respect. And when friendship blossoms into more it turns to love.
I really enjoyed this book. I loved that the characters came together so naturally, it didn't seem forced or stilted. Much like the rest of the series, it was a great read.
Razor a former Navy Seal sniper, owns a barbershop and is a contracted off the books black ops for the CIA (The Vigilantes). Alia is a criminal defense attorney and also works for The National Immigration Justice project.
Lance and Alia new each other because their boys are very good friends.
Alia becomes a target of a killer who thinks she has info damaging against him. Lance and his old teammates to keep her safe. You will have to read the book to see what happens.
This book it has suspense, intrigue, romance and emotions.
Great Job. R J Gray !!!.

I really enjoyed this one. Razor was the perfect Alpha male, he was strong and fought for what he wanted. Alia was a brave and determined woman who also went for what she wanted in life, the most horrible thing happened to her and she still got up everyone morning and took care of her boys and lived a life she knew she could have and along the way she met the perfect match for her second chance romance. The characters blended so well together and I can’t wait to read more about the other men from Valhalla. Great work!.

This story took off from the moment the book opened, and it really never let up. I loved seeing how the events from the previous books tied into the answers they found here. But I think what I loved the most was seeing these two somewhat battered souls rediscover their belief in Love. I thought Lance and Alia made an almost perfect couple; they understood where the other was coming from in ways most other people wouldn't. Now that I've seen this pair come together, I can't wait to find out what the author has in store for the next Veteran of Valhalla. I received a complimentary copy of this book through Booksprout.
