The House of Crimson & Clover continues in the fifth volume, Midnight Dynasty. All curses are born of vengeance. Dormant for a decade, the Deschanels' worst nightmare returns with a tragedy and quickly escalates into the unimaginable. Seers and other witches arrive in New Orleans from all over the world, hopeful this is the round they finally put an end to the curse that has stolen precious Deschanel lives for over two centuries. As the body count rises, one young Deschanel emerges with a shocking idea. A cruel, terrible scheme that will ruin lives to save them. The Deschanel Magi Collective has spent hundreds of years searching for a way to stop the ancient, malevolent evil, and has never come close to winning. But failure will lead to more death, and time is not on their side. The desperate sacrifices of two young Deschanels will drive an irrevocable split straight through the center of their midnight dynasty. Forever.

Born a geek, Sarah spends her time crafting rich and multilayered worlds, obsessing over history, playing her retribution paladin (and sometimes destruction warlock), and settling provocative Tolkien debates, such as why the Great Eagles are not Gandalf's personal taxi service. Passionate about travel, she's been to over twenty countries collecting sparks of inspiration, and is always planning her next adventure.
Sarah and her husband live in a beautiful corner of SE Pennsylvania with their three tiny benevolent pug dictators.
Midnight Dynasty is a 2014 publication. I was provided a copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.
Before I say anything else- Please read the first books in the series before you start on Midnight Dynasty. Some series can be picked up at the beginning, middle or end and the reader can still follow along. However, you will not understand the full impact of this novel without getting to know the key players and what has transpired up to this point.
So, now that we are have gotten the disclaimer out of the way...
The Deschanel family, like some other unfortunate families, like the Kennedy's, and the Guinness Family, is plagued by a centuries old curse. This curse has lain dormant for a some time, but it's baaaaccckkk!
“There is a price and his children will pay it. As will their children, and their children, all children who attempt to profit from anything Charles has built. This Midnight Dynasty will fall, as Ophelie fell, and there will be no more. This I promise, on my mother, and on my beloved Ophelie.”
This curse uttered over two hundred years ago still haunts the Deschanel family, There have been deaths and they are coming closer and closer together prompting some family members to form a Magi Collective to stop the curse once and for all.
Sarah does an incredible job of building suspense. It's a slow, moody, edge of your seat suspense with a palpable sense of foreboding. This atmosphere kicks the book off and slowly escalates as you sink deeper into it. You know something bad is going to happen and you desperately want to somehow prevent it but must watch helplessly as events unfold. There are major developments for Oz, Tristan, and Alain and Katja. But, the AHA! Moment will come from Markus who finally hits upon something that could hopefully save this family that has been torn asunder. It will all make perfect sense and could be the gateway to merging the storyline back to Ana and Finn and what is happening on with them. Once can even become cautiously optimistic about the future. Either way, I am plan on having a front row seat for the next book in this multidimensional series. Once again Sarah Cradit nails it. 5 stars!
The three Acts in Midnight Dynasty were released separately before they came together in this glorious book (and look at that cover, will ya?? HOT!) My review of each Act is below:
Malediction: Seriously, what’s not to love? New Orleans. An age-old Curse. A family with dynamics and gifts that are unparalleled. And writing so solid and so engrossing that you can’t put it down. That’s what Midnight Dynasty is! All of this and more. The House of Crimson & Clover is one of my favorite series, and Midnight Dynasty, even though we’ve only been treated to Act I thus far, has already climbed to the top of my favorites within the series.
As we get to know the family members better and Cradit sorts out details for us, I’m doing some sorting of my own. Jacob and Amelia, or Jamelia as I like to affectionately call them, have solidified their position as a favorite couple of mine, one I’m rooting for. There is a sweetness about their relationship that cannot be denied and a love, I believe, that runs deep. Tristan, well I just love him and his uniqueness. I want to “squish” him with hugs and cook him a big pot of gumbo…he needs some comfort food. The Deschanel Magi Collective…can I please attend one of the meetings Aunt Colleen is going to call? I can’t imagine anything more entertaining than all of those personalities in one room!
And lastly, that ending y’all! Wow! If you like a little reading with your “OMG” “WTH” “What did you just do to me Ms. Author lady” moments, then you’ll love this one!
Midnight Dynasty: Act I is a definite 5-star read that will leave you wanting more! This incredible series just kicked things up a notch, and you don’t want to miss one word!
Convocation: Just when you think things can’t get much more intense, Cradit starts to pull out some pretty powerful stops. The Midnight Dynasty storyline is an intense one, and Act II proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that the Curse behind this storyline is alive and well. As for the Deschanels, alive and well aren’t the best descriptors. Everyone is a target. Who will be a victim of the Curse and who will be a victim of themselves?
Act II: Convocation is arguably Cradit’s best work yet. She treats us to a little Historical Fiction in this one, which couldn’t have made me happier. It served to strengthen the story and give us a glimpse of her remarkable talent to write anything! In fact, she has written me a new book boyfriend. Dare I say, my beloved Oz Sullivan now has competition for my heart? Oh yes, he does. And that competition comes in the form of Jacob Donnelly! Goodness, that man is causing me to have less-than-pure thoughts! I am torn at this point…Oz/Jacob/Oz/Jacob…what’s a girl to do?!
I really can't say enough about this book, this story, this series, this author. Midnight Dynasty is shaping up to be one of my all-time favorites books. Bring on Act III!
If you haven’t started the House of Crimson & Clover series, please do so immediately! You will be oh-so-glad you did!
Omega: She did it! Sarah M. Cradit finished this 3-part book like a champ and secured its place as one of my all-time favorite books! The centuries-old Curse haunting the Deshanels is back in full force and taking no prisoners, but instead destroying family after family and leaving survivors to mourn their loved ones and live in fear. Emotions are high in this one, causing discord within families and leaving some hopeless.
Omega had me sitting on the edge of my seat, at times both wanting to turn the page and not wanting to know what happens next. My increased heart rate was palpable an my anxiety was high. More than once, I had that dreaded tear in my eye and lump in my throat as I shouted a silent “NOOOOO!!!” Cradit has the unparalleled ability to make me feel connected to her characters. The result of that connection was scene after scene that were difficult to read. Yes, this book is heavy. It’s filled with a plethora of emotions that are visceral and raw. I loved every single, solitary word of it. I didn’t want it to end. Oh, but what an ending it was. It wraps up nicely, yes, but it is hardly an ending to this story. We know that there is much, much more to come from our Deschanels and Sullivans (and Donnelly’s, yes I love Jacob now). Our struggle now is waiting for the next installment of the House of Crimson & Clover series. Oh, the struggle is real. Please hurry, Sarah!
Another amazing book by author Sarah M. Cradit!! I love this series and each book leaves me wanting more and more! The short disclaimer is that: This novella/book is not a stand alone. It is vital to have read the prior books in the series to understand all that is going on. The second thing that is important is that the first full length book is on sale for perm-free (check it out on amazon: St. Charles at Dusk: The House of Crimson and Clover Series Prequel)! With that out of the way this book is a major WTF?!?!? OMG!!! I need the next one now books....yep, it's that amazing. I loved learning more about Tristan and his dilemma, Amelia and her love Jacob, and of course what is the deal with Oz?!?! All of your favorite characters are here and are ready to battle the curse that shakes this family down to it's core and it is going to be an amazing thing to see unfold over the next few months....The Cliffhanger was so unexpected and yet it fit the story perfectly as well as the questions that the reader was left with as it ended....stay tuned to see what happens next in everyone's new favorite families, the Deshanels & the Sullivans.... Let's start with the darkness that Sarah has instilled in this "act". She has brought to light many things that the family would rather not know or share with others! She has made this story take a turn so unexpected and so sharp that even the most loyal fans had to take a minute and re-read parts of the story. I love her books, her writing style and her characters, but this one took a little while to process before writing the review. I did embrace the changes in the end of this story, but am looking forward to seeing where the next one takes us. This series has hooked me from the beginning and I need more! I have so many unanswered questions and so many things that I have been waiting for that I am so ready for act 3, let's just hope that my brain can handle it!! I am looking forward to Alain's story, Ana's story and of course the story of Adrienne....who would have known that she wasn't the person that we all made her out to be?!?! Look out Oz, there are some surprises coming your way....I hope that they are good ones!! My first thought upon finishing this book was WTF?!?!?!? I was at a loss for words, speechless, emotions were all over the place....then I remembered that this was a book, an incredible book...I love this series and I love the characters in the series (there are a few less to love now)....I enjoy the history of the books, the details about New Orleans and the love that the characters clearly feel for each other. It is a series like no other out there right now, and a series that anyone who loves to read about love, loss, betrayal with a touch of "super" powers will love. You have to start your journey at the beginning to fully understand the impact that this series will have on your best loved books list. Sarah writes from the heart and she loves her characters and that is clear to see as you read each book she writes. This is not a job for her, this is her passion and her love. It is always clear to see when it is about a hobby, or work, but she writes books that leave the reader wanting more and more, there will never be enough to fully satisfy any reader! I need to have the next book now, so I can continue on my journey with my friends, Ana, Nic, Finn, Oz, Amelia, Katja and more!!! Another amazing story by Sarah M. Cradit - make sure you add all of her books to your TBR list and you won't be sorry or disappointed in any way!!!
Midnight Dynasty by Sarah Cradit was originally published as a series of novellas. This republication as one book will be a very readable addition to The House of Crimson and Clover series!
Malediction: I love the House of Crimson and Clover series, and this latest edition adds so much to it. This novella is not a stand alone. It is rather important to have read the prior books in the series to understand all that is going on.
Midnight Dynasty showcases many new Deschanel and Sullivan family members and the secret that they have lived with and must keep from outsiders—even their lovers. Many back stories are presented. The family tree and timeline at the end of the book was a fabulous addition. I love that attention to detail. The author continues to weave together this complex story, and intricate characters and family.
Instead of being presented as one longer book, this part of the series will be presented in three novellas ("Acts"). Thankfully, the wait between books is not too long. Midnight Dynasty is an excellent first act and segue to the rest of the story.
If you're a fan of this series, you'll love this book.
Convocation: I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Midnight Dynasty Act II: Convocation is another exciting installment in the House of Crimson and Clover series by Sarah Cradit. As this series continues, it is imperative that readers start at the beginning with St. Charles at Dusk and read through.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, but it will not have the same impact to readers who are not invested in the series. There are many new character additions in this novella, and the little plot movement is primarily a segue for major changes in beloved characters' futures.
Ms. Cradit continues to masterfully build suspense as the story of the Deschanel family continues toward an epic culmination. The new characters introduced in this novella are from other branches of the family, and they're quite an interesting lot! The members convene in NOLA in order to find a cure for the dreaded family curse. The proposed cure has many a "Doubting Thomas" raising their eye brows.
This novella will have series followers turning the pages until the wee hours of the morning. The suspense is gripping, and it will leave you begging for Midnight Dynasty Act III.
Omega: I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Midnight Dynasty, Act III: Omega (The House of Crimson & Clover #3, Act III) is the final installment in this serial offering. Midnight Dynasty was offered in three parts over the summer of 2014.
In this installment the Deschanel family is in chaos. Their elder statesmen gather to discuss the tragedies that abound in the family and look for a solution. Misguided acts of love and desperation are attempted in an effort to avoid the family curse.
There is a lot of action in this installment--unfortunately mainly deaths and near deaths. The Deschanel and Sullivan families' tragedies erupt like exploding fireworks in a July 4th show. Helplessness and the sense of inevitability in their situation leads to depression and inertia in some, while others know they must keep trying because hope is all they have.
Sarah Cradit is building suspense toward her epic culmination of The House of Crimson & Clover series.
***Review has been done in conjunction with Nerd Girl Official.
** ARC provided by the author in exchange for an honest review** *** Definite 5 Star Read!! ***
Wow! Just wow. Midnight Dynasty, Act I: Malediction is so extremely well written. Sarah M. Cradit had me hanging on her every word.
I love the way this book focused on a new character's life and perspective with each new chapter. It was great getting to know some of the newer characters to this series a little better. A few of my favorite parts were: 1) Amelia's memory of her and Jacob's blossoming friendship in college 2) Colleen's recollection of how the Deschanel curse originated AND... 3) That ending!
If you are a fan of this series, DON'T MISS THIS ONE!! There is a ton of stuff going on with the Deschanels that you're not going to want to miss out on!
-CONVOCATION: * I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review *
AMAZING! Just amazing! While Convocation is a little more intense than what we've come to expect from the awesome Sarah Cradit, I believe that that is what makes it one of her BEST stories yet. It's told at just the right pace, it's full of drama and intrigue, and it makes me want to hop on a plane to New Orleans -- like right NOW.
In Convocation we follow all of our old favs, and some of our new favs, as they struggle to understand and revers the curse of the Deschanels. I ached for Tristan...and Jacob's story... and sweet Adrienne who is so much stronger than I would have previously given her credit for. For the first time EVER I wanted to give Oz a good smack (I think Olivia could use one too) and I was definitely on the edge of my seat when it came to Alain and Katja.
Be prepared for some super cool new storyline, some even cooler new abilities, and to get to know some of the family members on a more personal level. Midnight Dynasty, Act II: Convocation is an absolute MUST READ!
-OMEGA: I know I've said this before, but this time I really mean it... This is, by far, THE BEST book/act/short by Sarah M. Cradit that I have read to date. And I have read them all!
Midnight Dynasty, Act III: Omega both lifted me up and tore me down in equal measure. The love shared between these characters is so inspiring and such a joy to read but there are also scenes so sad they will bring tears to your eyes and even more shocking scenes that you wouldn't, COULDN'T, see coming in a million years that will chill you to the bone. And all so well written and in such vivid detail that it's impossible not to believe that these are real people suffering from a very real curse that has really been plaguing their family for generation upon generation.
Virtual high five to this author for writing a book that I couldn't put down, nor did I want to. I will not be able to rest until I get my hands on the next book in this series.
Sarah has done it again! Brought me into a story and left me wondering, what in the world is coming next?! This review has taken me much too long to write given real life has been interfering, but I had some time today and I cannot sit on this any longer! If you haven't read this series you really are missing out!
The Deschanel family is crazy unique. It has a long standing history of both amazing gifts and a frightening curse. Now suffice it to say with the good comes the bad, but in this family both are extremes. I found myself sitting on the edge of my seat dreading and anticipating, in equal measure, the next page turn.
I am not going to give away spoilers, it is a novella for crying out loud, but I will say you feel deeply for everyone involved. Your emotions get tangled into this family and you feel as if the things surrounding them are surrounding you too. I cannot wait for the next book!
Yes, you have heard correctly, you will need to read the others before this one. But trust me, that journey will be one you will never forget or regret! For those of you who have read the series, this will answer a lot of questions you may have from previous books. Enjoy!
The best in the series yet...
Convocation:
Wow! Things are getting insane in the world of Crimson and Clover, and we are being taken for a roller coaster ride I don't think anyone saw coming! After Malediction I was both dreading and anxious for this book! I thought things start to calm down a bit, I was wrong.
There is a lot going on in this novella. You will feel so many different things and yes, I bet you might even feel tears at some point, lord knows I did! I don't even know what to say other than sit back and enjoy the ride. You know, if you have been reading the series, that Sarah is going to take you to the extreme of emotions and bring you back again! It's her way.
I am terrified to see what is coming next. Will we have a lift on the curse? Will these amazing characters ever be able to live in a world of peace and happiness? Will I survive the next installment?
Stay tuned!
Omega:
I can't talk too much about the actual story without giving a lot of it away, so I will say this, when you finish this story it will all be worth it. The heartbreak and the tears will have meaning. I actually had to force myself to just breathe at certain times with this one.
The curse on the Dechanel family is taking its toll on the members and we have sat through two books of devastation to get here, a journey that I almost didn't make. I absolutely loved this series and I have to say, these will be books I will own in physical form! I highly recommend you sit down and read the Crimson and Clover Series!
I give this 5 lipsticks.....

Act 1, Malediction
What a start to book three. Each chapter coming from one person’s perspective adds impact and works so well, giving more insight into that character, and building the intensity.
It’s good catching up with people from previous story lines and meeting new family members. I particularly enjoyed Amelia and Jacob’s story, how emotional that is. And poor Tristan is not having an easy time, for sure.
Just when Elizabeth was beginning to believe, or at least hope, the curse may have worn itself out, it strikes again. The Deschanel Magi Collective must work together and hope they can find a way to break the curse before it claims more victims.
The new and old characters are integrated and woven together with the relevant back stories filling in the gaps. Lots of revelations and oh my…the ending! I’m loving this series, it’s so easy to get pulled into the wonderful world created by Sarah Cradit.
Act 2, Convocation
The Deschanel Curse is continuing on it’s relentless path. No-one is safe. The family assemble to discuss the best way forward but two cousins have taken matters into their own hands after studying the family history in detail.
The tension and emotional chaos and confusion increase as tragedies befall the family leaving the Magi Collective fearful, helpless and at a complete loss. Lots of happenings and people having to deal with the consequences of actions taken, most notably Adrienne and Tristan. A complex and compelling family weighed down by a devastating 200-year-old curse.
Discovery upon discovery, the story takes the reader on a completely mysterious and unfathomable journey where anything can and does happen. It seems if it doesn’t kill, the Curse will change everyone’s life in one way or another….
Act 3, Omega
The third part of Midnight Dynasty is very dark and turbulent as the Deschanel Curse escalates to unprecedented proportions and the death count rises dramatically. Some scenes are shockingly vivid and painfully emotional and events leave the Deschanels and Sullivans in turmoil. It’s an incredibly rough and appalling time for the surviving members of both families with so many deaths and life altering situations to contend with.
As the family attempt to comprehend and take in the hugely horrific impact of the Curse, the origin comes into question affording the possibility of a glimmer of hope. Can there actually be an end to the death and destruction of families after all this time? Dare they look forward to a day when all the pain and suffering is behind them? I’m so looking forward to continuing this amazing series. The suspense and tension continue to be built with wonderfully skilful writing, captivating and enthralling.
Malediction: This is a 3 part book about the Deschanel clan and the curse that seems to follow them. We have briefly met Elizabeth and her son Tristan along with Amelia in the last book and this 3 part book delves even deeper into the lives and loves of them. Tristan has promised his mother never to have children and Amelia is convinced that marriage to her long time boyfriend Jacob Donnelly will bring the curse crashing down around him. What follows is terrible visions from Elizabeth and dire warnings for everyone. The "ending" of part one is such a OMG!! moment I had to write Sarah and yell at her. She said that's how she planned it. I cant wait for the next installment and I'm pacing the floor until July. This is by far the best of the Deschanel clan books and I recommend this book to all the fans of the series. But be prepared for a BIG cliffhanger. 5 impatient stars. Convocation: In act II of this amazing story Amelia is trapped in a coma and only one person can reach her and it's not who you could imagine! People are dying and the Curse is running rampant thru the family. We learn more of the history of the Deschanel side of the family and the true reason they are cursed comes to light thanks to Katja. I really enjoyed this and read it in one sitting. I cant wait for the final act. I definitely will recommend this series to all my friends. I love how all the characters interact and how all their lives are interlocked. Ms. Cradit makes the characters come alive and I really care for them. I especially like Nicholas and Tristan, they care so much for their family and do everything in their power to protect the Deschanel clan. An amazing story about a interesting family. Omega: OMG!! Act 3 throws it all at you, love, hate. dispair, and more death. Sarah had me turning the pages so fast to see what was going to happen next, I wanted to know but didn't want the book to end. As Act 3 opens Tristian is going over the ancient journals left to him by his mother and he's hoping to figure out how to stop the curse. It also picks up Amelia, Oz and Adrianne and Alain and Katja. Devastation has followed this generation of the Deshantles and it's not slowing down, picking off members and leaving grief behind. A few times it felt like a kick in the gut and I almost cried. I can't say enough about how it all ties together and Sarah did a wonderful job putting you right in the middle of the family crisis and makes you care about all the characters. I especially like Marcus and Tristian, they will do anything to help save this family and end the curse. This book is full of emotions raw and painful. I have put this set on my to be read again list and will recommend this to all my friend. Bravo Sarah bravo.
DISCLAIMER: I received a copy of this book for honest review.
I need more of the story and the characters. RIGHT NOW! I am starting to adore, LOVE, these stories. I do know this book was originally 3 parts, and I've gotta say that I am glad I was able to read it as one book. I would not have been able to wait for the next part to release if I had read it back in 2014. I would have gone insane. I love the new characters and how the story mingles GOLD (older characters), with SILVER (newer characters). This series is becoming additive. And in a very good way. I can't wait to keep going!
The secrets in this family just keep on coming, making these books near impossible to put down and after reading the family tree at the end of this book, I noticed some questionable things we haven't even touched on yet! I hope this author will keep putting out these books until all questions are answered - and with these families, that could be a while.
I had a love/hate relationship with the cliffhanger ending of Act I. On one hand, it's not the ending I wanted because I felt like I really got to know this victim. But on the other, this cliffhanger really ramped up the anticipation level for Act II.
As usual with this series, Act I is a gripping read, but make sure to read the preceding books first.
This review is based on a digital copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Convocation:
When I say Act II of Midnight Dynasty provided some unexpected twists, that would be an understatement. With every book in this series, the author has continued to surprise and astonish me and, as much as I read, I can't say that about too many books.
The differing points of view gave a well-rounded picture of the many goings on and how the narrators for that chapter were affected. As always, I'm thrilled when Nicolas appears, even if only for a few pages, because he usually steals the scene and gives me some laughs.
Some characters lived, some died, and some hung in there, but this round of the curse isn't over yet and I'm anxiously awaiting the next installment! Maintaining a high level of anticipation is especially challenging in an extended series and is likely one of the reasons fans keep coming back to The House of Crimson and Clover.
This review is based on a digital ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Omega:
Make sure you can read the last half of this book uninterrupted, because it moves at warp speed and, believe me, you don't want to miss anything. Act III was loaded with a new round of deaths, highs, lows, shocks, twists - my mouth was actually hanging open a few times.
This was the darkest book of the series, but I felt like it was the natural progression of the story. Let's be honest - the Deschanels and Sullivans don't live in the land of rainbows and unicorns. The book elicited a wide spectrum of emotions from me - with some characters, I wanted to smack some sense into them, with others, I wanted to hug them.
The story of the Deschanels and Sullivans is far from over, and I can't begin to imagine what the future holds for them. This series never disappoints.
This review is based on a digital ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Malediction: Since I discovered Sarah's writing, (first with St. Charles at Dusk) I've been mesmerized by the world she's created. Her's is the kind of story that you read until you're finished. The laundry can wait, dinner can wait...everything can wait until you've read thru the last page. Malediction was NO exception. Sarah's writing always evokes powerful emotions, but Act One of Midnight Dynasty literally has you laughing, crying, and secretly wishing it could go on forever. Convocation is only a few days away....can't wait to see what she has in store for us next.
Convocation: What the what? That was the phrase uttered most during my 2 hour and 15 minute read of Midnight Dynasty. These people get in your head, y'all! I literally BEGGED one to 'PLEASE stop because you're breaking my heart', yet in the same breath, relented because I understood the depths of love that drove this character to that choice. For the Deschanels as a whole, 'Convocation' weaves their story tighter than any of us could've imagined....lines are crossed and drawn in the proverbial sand, lives continue to be lost, and at this moment, there are more questions than answers. To believe....or not to believe? The Curse will find them either way.
Omega: For yet another book, my eyes and mind moved quicker than I could turn the page. I literally could not wait to find out what happened next. Sarah's characters make you want to know more about them...what dictates their choices, their triumphs, their darkness. Given the body count in Acts 1 and 2, I was prepared for the death of others, but blindsided by the depth of loss and loneliness felt by these people. A reoccurring theme that stand out to me throughout all of Sarah's books but especially in Omega is the importance of family. There's security and hope in knowing you have support, despite not always agreeing with loved ones decisions. One character discovers this the hard way, but in the face of nearly insurmountable turmoil, she does a 180, and begins her journey to rectify her mistakes. Five heartbroken yet hopeful stars for Midnight Dynasty, Omega. It will leave you breathless.
****My review for all 3 acts of this serial novel 5 stars. Definitely worth the wait and worth reading again...
Malediction: With each novel and novella from the House of Crimson and Clover series I read, I fall in love with the series a little more! I won't give away any spoilers but I will say that I gasped at the end of this one b/c it ended with a serious cliffhanger. Also, Sarah added a genealogy to the end of this novella which is helpful in keeping track of the characters. Like another reviewer mentioned, I'll be impatiently waiting for Act II!
Convocation: The House of Crimson of Clover series never disappoints! I absolutely love all of the characters and hearing from their various point of views. My favorite part of this novella was when the 100 plus Deschanel family members met at The Gardens in order to "talk about how to stop the rest of our family from dropping like dadgum flies." (Kitty Guidry, page 80) Unfortunately, several deaths occur in this novella; however there are several pregnancies as well. Once again, I can't wait for the next novella!
Omega: I think Colleen Deschanel sums up "Midnight Dynasty, Act III: Omega" best when she says, "Everyone should hold their loved ones close until the storm passes" (25). Unfortunately for the Deschanel family, the storm may never pass. According to Markus: "What had happened to their family this week felt like a sneaker wave, coming up from behind and out of nowhere to completely pull them under," (108). "Midnight Dynasty, Act III: Omega" is heartbreaking; some of my favorite characters die while others beat the odds and survive. I honestly could not put Act III down and read it straight through. I can't wait to read the next installment in "The House of Crimson & Clover,"- "Beyond Midnight: Asunder." This is hands down one of my favorite series of all time!
In this installment of the House of Crimson & Clover we learn that the Deshanel curse is indeed real. So many familiar faces are back. You'll get to catch up with Oz and his strained situation. Learn more about Amelia and Tristan and the way they cope with the reality of curse. How do you protect those you love, when they could easily die if they become involved. How does the family deal with loss at the hands of the curse. There's so much to learn in this piece of the Midnight Dynasty
PART 2
As always I love Sarah M Cradit and her stories. This is the second part of Midnight Dynasty, and more of the story comes to light. You're in for a few shocks. There are a few characters I would love to shake some sense into, but that's what makes me love the story. The characters are real, and react to things in ways you can see. I won't spoil the story, so I can't say much more than I really do love Jacob. i think he might just be my new favorite. I like seeing more of Amelia, and I really do love Katja. There are a lot of people to learn as more of the curse comes to light. Can't wait to read the conclusion.
Part 3
Captivating Conclusion We finally get to see how it all comes together in Sarah's final volume of Midnight Dynasty. Will they solve the curse? Or is it all for nothing. The story is gripping, heartbreaking at times, but it ends with hope. And I can't say much more without spoilers. I highly recommend this book.
The first part of this book tells about the lives of Tristan and Amelia. They are cousins and two younger members of the family. Elizabeth has had visions of more deaths. The curse is ready to strike again! The family goes on high alert and gather together. They have to find a way to stop the curse. They soon find out that two family members have done their own research and have already put a plan into motion to save the clan. We become more familiar with other family members and their special abilities. A close family friend has a long forgotten paranormal talent that could be used to save one of the Deschanels. There is so much death and devastation in this book. Family members have come together in their grief. Closer bonds have been formed for some. Others have rejected each other in their sadness. There are so many twists throughout this book. There are parts that tear your heart out. How much more can we take Sarah?! The end of the book seems to bring answers and hope for the future of the clan. could there possibly be another way to end this curse?. I can't wait to see what the next book brings. Thank you for this wonderful series Sarah. It is by far my favorite. 5 stars for this one!!
I don’t think I have ever read a more convoluted book series. Just when you think you have a story line figured out, a new character/problem/mystery erupts. This family curse and the unexpected deaths are riveting and so very disturbing. (The triplets!!!!!!) I’m intrigued, entertained, and curious to see where all of this CRAZY comes together, while continuing through (I think) at least 6 more books.

Get ready for another OMG edge of your seat thriller! As always Sarah Cradit has done it again and went above and beyond with this series! Each book just gets better and better. I feel I must say now that this book is not a stand alone. It is imperative that you read the previous books in this series first. Trust me you will NOT regret it!
In this book we continue learning more about the Deschanel family curse. This book is broken down into 3 parts. So I will start with the first.
Malediction: Set in New Orleans, we continue to get more of a back story of all our beloved characters. Jacob, Amelia and Elizabeth being the main focus in this act. Elizabeth has visions of more death as the curse continues to take hold over this family. We even get into the Origin of this curse and it's fantastic! Although be warned the ending is one hell of a OMG WTF?! moment!
Convocation: Act 2 brings some serious twists, turns, wow moments and most importantly more information! With Amelia being in a coma and only one person (and NOT who you think it would be) being able to reach her, the family is in caos. More death as the curse is quickly rampaging through the family like a tornado. In this act we learn more about exactly why the family is cursed and why it started. As new members from the family arise and they try to scramble to find a way to end this curse for good!
Omega: OMG WOW!! Desperation to end this curse brings despair, love, hate, aggression and desperation. As the family continues to use their collectives to find a way to end the curse, Sarah Cradit takes you on one wild ride. She leaves you on the edge of your seat. An absolute page turner with more action, death, desperation and hope!
This installment to the series is so far my favorite! This book takes you on one amazing roller coaster ride. With many twists you won't see coming. It will leave you in suspense and wanting more as Sarah always does! BRAVO!! 5 stars across the board! I can NOT wait to read the next book!
By far my favorite of the series so far. The tension that builds up to the last 1/3 of the book gave nothing away. I was sitting on the edge of my seat, jaw on the floor and eyes bulging by the end.
You don't get to see much of Mercy but Nicolas is still a presence with his foul mouth.(which I love) I love that history is provided as a way to make a situation more understandable and accepting. Alain and Katja. WHOA! Amelia and Jacob remind me of the love/relationship that Ana and Finn have.
Whew.....It took me a long minute to write this review. It has been a very very long time since a book has drawn me in and made me so emotionally involved! I would say, it has been since I first read The Vampire Lestat from Anne Rice. Yes, I did just put Sarah Cradit and Anne Rice on the same shelf, and for good reason!
Midnight Dynasty has all of our favorite characters and some new faces. I have truly fallen in love with Oz, Nic, and even Adrienne. I find myself worrying about them when they have not been present for a long moment. But getting so emotionally attached may be my downfall. See, Ms. Cradit left no stone unturned with this one. I don't want to go into spoilers but I will say I cursed her a few times! I cried the hardest I have cried in a long time. I actually had to take a break from the book. That only lasted a day, though.
I know my reviews are not that long, but I really can't write what I want without a million spoilers. I want to yell, "What was she thinking when ABC happened?!" Or write a million pages on how this or that made me feel. But, at the end of the day, only you can experience it by reading it. I cannot exclaim enough about how much I love this series! Well written, fast paced, characters are clear and concise. I just love love love this series!!!!!! Every single character, whether a pain in the back side, or a hero, finds a special place in my heart. So quit reading this review and start reading Midnight Dynasty! Go!
First of all, let me say I love the House of Crimson and Clover Series. I thoroughly enjoyed this latest addition. However, I felt like it presented more questions than it did answers with the Deschanel family. They are so interwoven with the Sullivan family and are, indeed, cursed. Can they ever break free and be happy?
The Deschanel Curse is a complex subject but the reader gets to know each of the Deschanel's better. There are enough twists and turns to keep you reading, even though there are times you feel like you need to quit so you can catch your breath again.
The style of each chapter from the point of view of a different family member is not at all confusing, but adds clarity to a complex story. Cradit will keep you guessing as she takes you through the Deschanel family.
The story of the Deschanel Curse has been eye-opening. All I can say, is you need to read this yourself (I won't spoil it for anyone). Just keep tissues handy and something to throw. Ms. Cradit has done it once again and you will be on the edge of your seat as you finish the series. This has to be one of, if not, the best book she has written. Her writing and storytelling keeps improving and she is seriously one of my favorite authors. Can she top this? I think so because she just keeps getting better.
I was given an ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.
The Deschanel curse has plagued the family for centuries. The family is split by members who believe and are non believers. But the family must unite and pull their resources to figure and the source and the cure because the curse is heading for them at full force and no one is immune. Sarah introduced more of the family members and their roles to come in a way that made you feel like you were a part of the family dealing with each problem as it arises. This book left my mind whirling, craving more, and asking Why? WOW!!!!!!
Title: Midnight Dynasty Author: Sarah M. Cradit Reviewer: Dawn Hartzburg
Midnight Dynasty is book three in The House of Crimson & Clover series. In this book we learn a lot about Tristan and the horrible things that he has to endure. The Deschanel’s are once again being plagued by the infamous Deschanel curse. They’re being left to wonder who the curse is going to take this time. When the family of seers come together to try and find a way to beat the curse all havoc breaks loose when they find that two people in the family have taken it upon themselves to find the cure. When cousins mate most of the family has turned their backs on them until one fateful night tragedy hits and the family members start to fall. Amelia whom is an empath falls victim to her own abilities due to emotional overload. While the family is trying to pick up the pieces and move forward Amelia wakes to a world that no longer seems the same and she struggles to move forward. To find out the struggles and tragedies that struck the family this time around then by all means pick up the books and enjoy the adventure the books will take you on.
I voluntarily reviewed this copy and I have not been compensated in any way.
The curse that surrounds the Deschanel family has definitely returned with a vengeance. The Magi Collective is the last hope of the family to find a way to solve the puzzle of the curse and fix it but how do you fix a blood oath made by a grieving mother? The body count is distressingly rising but love, strength and their ancient power is no mach for the curse.
This was a continuation of the story of the Deschanel family (and it is strongly advised that you need to read them in order). It was fascinating to read all the desperate ways the family were trying to stop the curse and the effect of all those actions. There was a lot of drama and emotional turmoil for the characters in this section of the story and I really felt for the family and those associated with them. The book was well written and everything was well explained. I could empathise and experience the emotions they were all going through.
Cradit has reached into my chest and pulled my heart out! This book is so emotional that I caution readers to have a box of tissues. Her way with words pull you into the story, it makes you feel like you are standing right there living it with her amazing characters. As the curse strikes the family hard characters we have grown to love suffer and some die right before our eyes. I shudder at the thought of what comes next. Who will we loose next and how many more before the curse can be undone. Okay so there were some good and loving parts (not enough to counter the bad). I love the last weekend between a family ( who? Read the series :) ). The way she had Tristan integrate the Deschanels family line, curse victims and patterns into his notes was fabulous. Over all it was a deeply dark and emotional read for me. I loved it 100% though
I just finished this and I'm still struggling to process all that happened. This book was jam-packed with Deschanels, family relationships and dynamics, and tragedy. My head is still spinning. So many surprises!
There are still many questions left to be answered, hopefully in the next volume, but I'm sure there will be more to come as well. Over the last month or so, as I've been plowing my way through the Crimson & Clover series, I have been deeply affected by this family and feel such empathy for them. This would not be possible were it not for the gifted writing of Sarah Cradit. At no point in this book did it cross my mind that she might have worded something better. It was nearly perfect. There are not enough stars to indicate just how highly I recommend this book and the entire series (even though I haven't finished reading all of them yet).
Malediction: Holy intense storytelling! This is raw with emotion, intrigue, and all the Deschanals I love so much. We meet some new people, while getting to know others a little better in this first installment of Midnight Dynasty. I can't wait to see what happens next!!
Convocation: Such devastation for this interesting, yet complicated family! I love reading all the different POV's, seeing how everyone feels and is affected by the curse. I'm anxiously waiting for part three, though I know it will probably rip my heart out.
Omega: What a conclusion to these acts! I cried so hard at parts I had to put the kindle down and bury my face in my pillow. Sarah M. Cradit is an amazing author and this series is wonderful. Recommend it for everyone!
I received this book in exchange for an honest review. I absolutely loved this series and can't wait to find out what happens next., This book forces you to experience every emotion possible as you get to know the Deschanels and their extended family. We learn of the Curse that takes lives in mass throughout their generations. We learn of the special skills and abilities of the family. They are rich in finances and family spirit which only grows stronger thru their trials. The writer does a marvelous job of weaving a tale you can't put down and makes you eager to learn more and read more without caring how long it is. Each page makes you speed to the next to see what new thing is revealed. An excellent read!
I loved everything that was happening. Families coming together. Families falling apart. Families sacrificing. So much happened but i lost it at times. To many points of view to follow and i often lost the plot, but i still liked it. I often forgot names or who is who but i read back a few times and managed to keep on track.
A very complex story that you can not help but want to know more.
