On sunny days, you can find her lounging on her deck, sipping coffee and working on her latest book. She specializes in writing lighthearted, hopeful romances that feature relatable, everyday characters who are looking for love. She’s a firm believer in writing dessert books with plenty of sweet, flirty banter, teasing, and spice. Her goal is to deliver stories that give you a serotonin boost and leave you with a smile.
When she’s not writing, she’s wrangling her kiddos, indulging in food and wine adventures with her better half, or out back trying to revive her garden. (Hey, sometimes things die, it’s fine.)
I liked this story. It made me laugh and think. I loved how Delia and Kam meet and end up in some interesting scenes as they try yo figure out what is going on without giving up their secrets. The rest of the characters were a blast. At heart it is a detective story with a scifi bent that made it a bit addicting to read . I just had to know what would happen next. the writing and story was simple and easy at first glance but like the rest it was tricky. The different to the guilds was great. And Delia was pulling the best con ever.
I enjoyed this book. Because the author is introducing a new science fiction world, the setup does take longer than most of the books I read. The leading lady and her partner in the story are strong independent, resourceful women who are hired to find missing tech. The interactions between Delia and Kam are sometimes funny (Sugar Bear - ha!) and always engaging.
I don’t usually read sci-fi, but I gave this book a chance and really enjoyed it. The relationship between Delia and Kam was fun to follow, once I waded through the setup of the world the story is written in. The plot was interesting with a fun twist or two. I loved Delia’s kick ass character and the snarky humor in the story. It is a great book!
I love when a book pulls me in and slowly gives me a few details of a new world. For this book I was left wondering about deeper things and the way things were being laid out. But once finished I was amused at the romance built fast but around a case...that was cloaked in vagueness from start to finish. I loved it all though and want the next books in the series.
I wanted to like this book but it was just ok. The world building was more SFF than the urban fantasy I thought it would be. It also felt like the first book in a series - a lot of infodumping to set up this alien planet that I didn’t need for this book (but I assume would need later in the series). The character development felt inconsistent (like her feelings about her mother) and generally flat. I like the idea of this book - a fake psychic trying to fool real psychics- but it just didn’t work for me.
