Listen... *deep breath* This story will make you scream.

Destination: Tomorrow takes place over the span of one day. Two women; two complete strangers, forced together by circumstances out of their control, forced to trust one another despite the risks, for the sake of living to see tomorrow. Needless to say, this isn't your typical love story.

Sara and Cat are phenomenal characters in their own right. They each have their own emotional baggage and their own personal ghosts, but their opposing outlooks on survival and purpose in a post-apocalypse world, every mental hurdle they're forced to overcome to allow themselves to trust in order to survive, every little bonding moment cut short by impending danger... I have no words to properly describe how well it all works.

I want them to make it so bad.

I need them to be happy like I need air in my lungs.

And this book had me holding my breath from start to finish.

Destination doesn't shy away from the harshness of its setting, of the stakes set in place by the antagonists, or the horrors its protagonists have faced and are yet to face. One wrong move, a single misstep, and these characters could die... or worse. Danger is constantly breathing down their necks and the story will not let you forget it, not even for a second.

Lastly, I would recommend this to anyone looking for a great wlw romance who also enjoys high stakes, masterful atmosphere, a rich setting, and of course zombies.

I will start off this review with a disclaimer that horror and apocalyptic fiction is not usually a genre that I particularly like, but I’m always looking for more wlw fiction. That being said, as an ARC I was given three weeks to read this novella and I devoured it in a day. Once I picked it up I couldn’t put it down! The vivid world building sets the perfect canvas for this engrossing sapphic romance with the perfect amount of macabre. I was fully invested in these characters and even more so invested in the relationship between them. The ending had me on the edge of my seat. My only complaint is that this novella isn’t longer.

*I received an ARC for a honest review*

Destination: Tomorrow is a short, but intense apocalyptic romance novel about two women Cat and Sara who are unwillingly brought together by circumstances that mean life and death. In over a day, both women learn to trust and depend on each other to survive while an unknowing attraction pulls them to one another.

Both characters are complex, both dealing with personal traumas brought on before and after the apocalypse that led them to where they are now and how they view and deal with the changing world around them.

The setting is fleshed out not sparing the brutal reality of the world thrown into chaos by the undead. Showing the cruelty of man as well as the desperation of a better tomorrow, “That there’s more to life than surviving.”

The zombies were pretty interesting getting to know how they operate and differ from one another.

I think the only criticism I have is some of the things I felt were very minor in the story were a bit over explained, but coming from the other side of reading books that weren’t explain well enough, this was a better outcome. And it didn’t take away from what was happening in the chapter.

Other than that I’m very excited to see what Sullivan has planned next for our characters as I want them to be end game and living happily together, but with the apocalypse nothing is ever for certain and I’m on edge to see what happens next!

Imagine you were visiting a new town and you relied on rave, 5-star Yelp reviews to guide you to the best eatery ... only to be served barely edible slop and wake up the next morning with food poisoning.

I saw zombies, lesbians, romance and a 4.24 average rating. In my excitement, I failed to note that there were only nine reviews.

So let me offer a countervailing perspective, in case it’s of use:

✔️ Derivative.

✔️ Clunky.

✔️ Confusing. Nothing made a lick of sense.

And, where was the sapphic romance? Yes, there were indeed two women (neither of them necessarily lesbian). They encountered each other in the woods and fought off bad guys together. And, yes, there was one very brief kiss and a few moments of unrequited longing. But, that's it.

And then ... and then ... what happened?! It's as if the author got bored, yawned a couple of times, and decided to call it quits. Just exit stage left, smack-dab in the middle of the story. Maybe she’s angling to gear up interest in a sequel? Who the heck knows?

I have nothing against self-publishing per se, but this book exemplifies how the absence of gatekeeping can be a problem. It should be a free offering on a fanfic site, not something people are asked to shell out money to read.

Goodreads let me down this time.

Thank you for the ARC Alice!

This was the first zombie/post-apocalyptic book I'd ever read. As a result, it was a little difficult for me to get into the book at first. However, as I continued reading, the book piqued my interest, and I've come to enjoy it.

The author's writing and storytelling were great. It conveyed a consistent tone of the characters' need for survival in a post-apocalyptic world without being overly explained or complicated. The book had a great balance of "show and tell," and I especially enjoyed the detailed descriptions of the gnashers/biters, the post-apocalyptic world, and the overall atmosphere of the book as a whole. This was extremely helpful in visualising what was going on as I was reading, which I believe is what eventually made the book such a good read for me.

I liked Sara and Cat's relationship and trust; my little gay heart can't help but root for them throughout the book. Also, the dual POVs worked so well in this book, it allows the reader to get to know Sara and Cat as complete individual characters.

The ending!...the ending left me wanting more. Already desperate for a sequel to this book, I want to know what happens next.

This novella has it all, suspense, great characters , interesting plot and a great cliffhanger of and ending that leaves you clamoring for more. I am not one for romance in a day type of stories . In fact i try to avoid stories with heavy focus on them but Alice has changed my opinion on this. She does it in a way it makes sense why they will fall for each other. The character motivations , voices are really the standout. I relate to both the main characters sooooo much my heart broke at the last quarter of the novella.. Twice.. Alice can be quite brutal at what she makes her readers go through. But i assure you its worth the pain.

Plotwise its a survival story with a twist. i enjoy how she use cliché themes but rearrange them and hid the truth and unleash them in a bang of revelation at the end! It's really clever writing for a simple story.

If you are looking for a palate cleanser or need an intro into romance/zombie survival, my personal opinion is this is the book for you. Give it a try. Alice has never let me down. And while you are at it try her previous novella the Collapse too! Its really a breath of fresh air to the genre.

It can sometimes feel like the zombie apocalypse genre is getting a bit stale, but the authors manage to breathe fresh air into it with this book.

The dual POV works very well, showing us how the two women’s lives intersect and their journeys become one joint fight for survival. There’s a lot of action, drama and intrigue, and the blossoming romance between the two main characters feels compelling and real.

I just wish there was more! I couldn’t believe it when the story suddenly ended, and I sincerely hope there will be a sequel, because the story is in no way resolved. I feel like we were just given a glimpse of a larger plot at play before having it snatched away at the last minute. I’m invested in Cat and Sara now, and need to know what comes next.

Yes, yes and ahh… Yes!!

Absolutely loved this read!

I’m known to be a greedy reader, and I definitely am left wanting a lot more from this story! I wish it was 5x longer so I could dive deeper into this frantic and chaotic environment with the two main characters! I’m so sad I flew through this one but it’s finished at a really interesting point.

This is the first I’ve read from either author and I won’t be stopping here. I enjoyed the pacing and style of the writing and I hope there’s a sequel soon!

I need more!

While zombie survival stories have been done to death (pun very much intended), the way it is presented here has enough new ideas, as well as interesting characters to keep it fresh.
I am very much looking forward to seeing Cat and Sara again.
