I fell for my boyfriend's main rival and his friends. It cost me everything. I had no choice but to betray them when they refused to let me go. Now I'm paying for my sins. Zayd hates me, refusing to even look at me. It's what I wanted, isn't it? So why can't I keep away? Now that I'm staying with Bennett, the true monster steps out from the shadows. For years, he has watched from afar, biding his time. At least with my father, I know the rules. My enemies are determined to make me bend to their will. How long until they break me?
Fadeaway is the follow up book to the Rivals Touch and it’s definitely a lot darker and more intense than the first. We’re following the same set of friends/lovers but this time Remi is fighting for her life and future. Please check the triggers on this book, from non/dub consent, knife and gun play, murder, torture, kidnapping - the list is extensive and one which should not be overlooked. Harleigh is a wonderful writer and a beautiful soul (makes me wonder how she writes these books sometimes haha) she is in the league of H D Carlton with her writing style and mind fuckery. If you love extremely dark why choose romance then this is the author for you!!
Okay, so this book is really dark. Like if you thought “The Rival’s Touch” was dark, it has nothing on this one. Yes, this book was absolutely amazing, but please, please check the triggers before you decide to pick this one up. However, if you do decide to read it, I promise you won’t regret it!!! Remi goes through so much in this one, and my heart was breaking for her. I admire her for her strength and her resiliency, though! As for our favorite harem members, Zayd, Jacob, and Legacy, they definitely don’t disappoint! This book was definitely an exhilarating ride, it had me hooked from the beginning to the end. I definitely recommend if you like super dark romance!
✨ ARC Review ✨ *** Thank you to @author_harleighbeck and nishasbooksandcoffeepr for the ARC to review. *** Please check you TW before reading this duet and this book!!!!!!! *** I think this was the most disturbing, dark, twisted, and beautiful book I have ever read. Harleigh Beck is an amazing author and her writing made me feel so many emotions. I felt anger, sadness, fear, repulsion, shame, grief, and so many other emotions while reading this book. I loved all the characters, even the ones I hated. They were all so complex and so dark. This book had me questioning myself and my views on life. The writing is so amazing. I felt hot one minute and the next sick to my stomach. I loved Remi. She was so complex and her feelings broke my heart. It was very easy to feel with she felt while reading this story. Her past and her present made me want to hug her and never let her go. Zayd, Jacob, Legacy, and Warren were her saving angels. Each one was unique and fit her perfectly. I loved and hated them so much, especially Warren. This book has so many TW and some of the scenes were hard to read but I still fell in love with each one. There is so much darkeness and twistedness in this book that I was left speechless at times. I could honestly not put it down. I don't normally enjoy books like this one, but Harleigh Beck definitely did something right with this story. My head is still a mess after finishing this book, but I highly recommend this duet. Just double check TW before starting it! *** ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ***
Fadeaway is the second book in The Rivals Duet, and it was everything I was hoping for and more! I fell in love with Harleigh with The Rivals Touch and was desperate for the next book! It is much darker than book 1 so keep that in mind (That was personally what I loved about it!) I'm so thankful that this is a why choose because I always fall for the golden retriever personality but also adore the alpha broody character. So thankful that I got both and then throw in sassy Legacy, and I'm here for it. The spice. My god. It was constant and HOT! I read this book in less than three hours and was left feeling satisfied but also craving more! If you love dark why choose with LGBTQ representation, then you have to pick this up!
Wow, I don’t think I’ve read another book quite like this one… triggers and steam galore…like seriously every chapter to close to it! Wow! The story was easy to follow and the end wrapped everything up. Five right in for Remi, Zayd, Jacob and Legacy plus all the friends and enemies they meet along the way! Prepare for heavy triggering themes and smut…lots of glorious smut!
Fadeaway is the second book in The Rivals Duet and starts right where The Rival's Touch left off. This book was an absolutely crazy ride! So intense and nail-biting with so much steam! Make sure to check the trigger warnings because they are definitely real and there for a reason. If you love dark romance with some why choose themes thrown in then this book is for you!
Book Title: Fadeaway Author: Harleigh Beck Series: The Rivals Duet(#2) Genre: Romance, Drama Tropes: Enemies to Lovers, RH, Forbidden, Taboo, Tortured Heroine, Emotional Scars. Rating: 5/5 Spice: 4/5 Angst: 4/5
Plot: Remi is the queen bee cheerleader, she has great friends, a loving boyfriend, then her dad moves her to Ayecliffe. She has to move in with Zayd, her boyfriends arch nemesis. Her life soon spirals out of control due to Zayd and his friends. Zayd despises Remi's boyfriend, Bennett and when Remi ends up moving to his school and into his house, he vows to ruin Bennett's life, unbeknownst to the chaos that will ensue.
Thoughts: Book 2 is far darker than book 1. Remis strength and resilience knows no bounds in this book, she fought and fought. This book consumed me despite the darkness. It made me feel everything that Remi was going through. I laughed, shouted and cried at the book. Harleigh knows how to suck you into her books and couldn't put it down. If you like super dark romance, go read this duet.
Remi betrayed the people she loves most. Having no say in it, she now finds herself living with Bennett. Not only does she live with him, but they’re engaged. Bennetts father is as much of a twisted psycho as he was in the first book and continues to take advantage of Remi’s fear of him
Zayd, Jacob and Legacy are doing whatever they can to get Remi to admit why she turned on them. They know something is up and they are determined to get to the truth. Even if they have to f*ck it out of her!
This book was everything a great sequel should be. The plot twists, the s*x (which there’s A LOT of so if that’s not your thing, this is not the book for you. But if you’ve read the first book you know what you’re getting into 😏)
I feel so very grateful that Harleigh trusted me with this ARC! I absolutely loved it! Only one other book has blown my rating scale and now another one has. I’m happy that Harleigh writes fast, cause that means more amazing books for me!
So, i was curious about this book (so much that i paused my reading in ‘Rival’s Touch’ until i put my hands in it and read both books and didn’t suffer- well, didn’t suffer so much, because, of course, I suffered with this duet). Here we starts with the events from the previous book, and i have to say: if you suffered for Remi’s in Rival’s Touch, in this book you still will suffer. Again, she is a strong woman, and even if a lot of traumas and everything that she pass, she continues fighting. We are introduce to new characters and a lot of dark themes- check the triggers, because the author didn’t hold on on that. Really liked this duet and for the readers that enjoy a dark book, with situations really twisted and disturb, grab this book.
This book put me through the paces of so many emotions from anger, frustration, sadness, joy and sweating like a hot summers day. The plot is so good and what a way to end a duet!
Remi is doing her best to survive after the news of Bennett and his father claiming her, her father being a piece of work and trying to stay away from her 3 lovers.
Zayd, Jacob & Legacy are relentless at wanting to protect Remi and won’t take no for an answer on staying away. Absolutely loved the way did not give up on her!
So many plot twists happened in this book that had me SHOCKED.
My book lovers that love a energies to lovers, why choose romance book - this duet is for you 🥵💖
I honestly am in awe at this book. As always check the triggers as there are some very dark themes throughout.
Where do I even start?! This duet has put me through the wringer! I should’ve expected all the twists and turns but I totally did not see them coming because of how “tame” The Rivals’ Touch was!! Just prepare yourself for one wild ride. And the steam! Holy smokes, Remi and her harem definitely bring the sparks.
If you have triggers, definitely take a look at the trigger warning section of the book. If you’re a seasoned Harleigh Beck reader, you know what to expect. And that’s to expect the unexpected! Fadeaway is much darker than The Rivals’ Touch, so keep that in mind. And that’s honestly one of the reasons why I enjoyed it so much. I’m a sucker for dark stories and this one kept delivering from beginning to end.
There’s so many things I want to talk about, but I can’t. Because spoilers. If you enjoy dark RH stories, definitely give this duet a read!
Before reading this book, please check the TW’s as it was darker than Rivals Touch. Either way, I really enjoyed that Remi was able to overcome so much. Her strength was admirable and ability to overcome was fascinating. And, of course, our harem guys never failed to disappoint the readers. Definitely recommend for all those dark romance lovers! You will not be disappointed 😉
If you haven't read Rival's Touch, do that before reading this book. This is a dark read that really enjoyed reading. It may not be for everyone but it has me hooked from beginning to end. I can't wait to see what's next from this author.
Harleigh is such a fantastic writer and she is such a sweetheart. She is an automatic buy author for me even without reading her blurbs. I have not read one book of hers I did not love!
Woah! This book was an amazing end to Remi’s story. We pick up where Rivals Touch ended and let’s just say this book is much darker then the first. We already know how horrible poor Remi’s life is with her father but now more events start to come into play. I do not often get emotional with books but Harleigh is always able to make my heart ache at some point in all her books. This book was no different and I really felt so helpless at times wondering how she and her friends would be able to get out of all of these situations! I love all of her harem but Legacy and Zayd are just perfection. I never had read any FF books and this duet was my first. It’s been so good and hot! Everyone brings something different into the harem. I am really sad that it is over I really loved this story. Check TWs but if you are ok with a dark read check this out!!!!
Review of Fadeaway by Harleigh Beck * * * * * The second half of this dark duet and you are not expecting things to get this messed up for poor Remi, but happy to see that she may finally have people that will help her get out of her doom! Taboo, forced proximity, and some kinky shtcik!
Remi's fate was decided. Her messed up abusive father, was making her marry her newly discovered sick twisted abusive boyfriend...and now a third party is involved of hurting her in every possible way. They want their pretty good girl...their princess, locked away in a tower and to never escape them. If she is to go any where near Zayd, Legacy or Jacob, their lives would be in jeopardy. However, they are not going to let Remi go so easily. They know some of the cruelty Remi is suffering now. Not all of it to understand that she is sacrifing herself for them. That the men running her life would pull the trigger and not even blink. However, in all this, she may have an unexpected ally. Can they all get out of this or will blood be spilled?
Poor Remi! You really couldn't think things would get worse for her? Then nope, they do! This girl is a surviver. After all this, she is going to walk away happy with the people she loves plus one more! Her tormentors, in my opinion, got off to easy and my-oh-my what I would like to do alone in a room with them and a rack of torture instruments at my disposal... This duet entirely had me riled up and wanting to take on the bad guys, and appreciate how strong a woman can be.
I hate when people rate things low because it was too dark for them and they couldn’t finish it. People. READ TRIGGER WARNINGS. They are there for a reason! It is not the author’s fault you didn’t listen. Your inability to finish it because it was “too much” for you should not impact your rating when you were given ample warning. 🤷🏼♀️She said SA and violence throughout (among many other things) buuuut on that note, she should have mentioned one of the key characters who was completing the SA. Maybe that was what made people mad- that it didn’t specify who specifically was SA her? Either way… SA happens, and lots of it.
In saying that.. this book was dark. Like whoaaa, messed up dark. I’ve read some crazy stuff but I feel like this series took a bunch and put it into one. Not that in complaining. This one definitely had more going on than the first book. I mean, how much could possibly happen to one person? Sheesh.
There were some mistakes and a lot of “!”. Also, I kept wondering where this story took place since it kept mentioning summer weather, but in the states basketball season is in winter. And definitely has more than one game a week.
I kept hoping for Remi to make better choices to help her situation. But everything she did just made it worse. When she saw Preston at school and went to his car? I mean come on. Dumb. lol. Avoiding people trying to help you? I know she’s a victim of years of trauma but she has to at least tryyyy to make better decisions. And what’s with Zayd’s mom? How does she have absolutely no clue about anything going on?? Yikes.
I think this was the perfect conclusion to The Rivals Duet, and honestly everything I could have hoped for. I’m pretty sure I went on the emotional roller coaster of a lifetime while reading this; I felt love, rage, happiness, repulsed, despair, heartbreak, shame, fear, relief, and ultimately freedom. This book would have me fanning myself from the spice level one minute, to internally screaming “what the actual fuck” the next.
Fadeaway picks up right where The Rivals Touch ended, with Remi making a deal with the devil to sacrifice herself in order to save the ones she loves. Remi, along with her golden retriever boyfriend Jacob, her alpha male boyfriend Zayd, and her black cat girlfriend Legacy went through SO MUCH over the course of this story, and things that would have shred other relationships to pieces, only made theirs so much stronger.
I absolutely love Harleigh’s writing style, the complex characters she brings to life, and the amazing stories she creates. If you love dark romance, with a side of reverse harem, I highly recommend this duet. If you like dark romance, that has you questioning your sanity and your morals, I highly recommend literally anything that Harleigh writes.
This book was a lot, and much darker than book 1, so please read the TW’s before starting. I’m going to go bathe myself in holy water now, to cleanse my soul of the beautiful darkness that was Fadeaway.
I didn't really liked the first one but since it ended on a cliffhanger I wanted to know how it ended but damn this was even worse than the first.
In the first book we see her get Sa'd by her dad, boyfriend and his dad and that's even more in this one. We also still see her enjoy all this assault plus getting called a sl-t and wh0r3 by her so called lovers that force themselves on her as well.
In this one her father hires a bodyguard that's needed to be a walk between her and Zayde but she sleeps with him as well. He turns out to be an undercover agent and with a little drama about him killing Zayde after Preston killed her father, him killing Preston, her killing Bennett and eventually finding out Zayde didn't die. She even slept with him while thinking he killed Zayde so yeah that love for Zayde was clearly deep.. 🙄
This girl is getting loved and is in love herself with Zayde, Jacob, Legacy and now also Warnell but all the characters do is sleep with each other and there's no talk or getting to know each other at all in both books so the love is so fake. Especially since this girl opens her legs for everyone that looks her way.
If you like books about a girl that gets Sa'd by her family and friends and enjoys it and nothing more than smut this is for you. If you like some common sense and an actual plot with depth stay away from this duet.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Holy guacamole! Where do I start with this book? I was kind of expecting a darker book than The Rivals' Touch but wow I wasn't expecting this level of sickness 😍 It left me questioning myself. Should I really get aroused with this scene? Nope, probably not, but it's so twisted it's delicious. I love how Remi stands for herself and doesn't ever give up. If you love feisty women like me, trust me this is your book! You don't only have Remi but Legacy....no words to describe her really and when they're both together that's an explosive combination 😍 all the harem is! And well, if you have read other books by Harleigh before, you already know that she likes to play with our minds and make us suffer. I CAN'T FORGIVE WHAT SHE DID ON THIS ONE! She's really cruel. Just go read this duet if you're up for a trip into the sick and twisted. You'll suffer but you'll find yourself hooked and unable to stop reading to know what's coming next to Remi. You won't regret it!
Remi has been told she is engaged to her ex Bennett who is way more cruel than she’s ever seen before. Their parents have made a deal. She has to let her lovers go, or their lives are on borrowed time.
Legacy, Jacob, and Zayd come to realize that she didn’t push them away because she WANTED to but because she HAD to. They try to work out a plan to get her out of the engagement and away from Bennett and his father.
Oh lord, I could not put this down!! I was messaging Harleigh throughout my read and my anxiety was skyrocketing!! There was so much happening!!
I feel so terrible for Remi. She has had to endure so much in her short life. She is so strong but also doesn’t shy away from her emotions. I loved each relationship she had with her guys and Legacy. And there was so much spice in here, my lady bits were constantly tingling 🥵
••PLEASE CHECK TRIGGER WARNINGS!! THIS BOOK IS MUCH DARKER THAN BOOK ONE!!••
Ok so Fade Away starts off pretty much where Rivals Touch ended.. Pretty much with Remi having the world against her and her struggling to get through day by day. I hate putting negatives in reviews.. but i did struggle with this duet a bit. I wanted to shout at Remi to stop being so weak and letting people get to her, to stop letting them get their way when it came to s%x and to scream about what was happening to her... but also why did noone see the briuses? Why did noone else notice that something so serious was going on? Anyway i disgress.. the foursome continue playing games and not taking any prisoners giving us some steamy scenes for sure! I felt for Zayd so bad and feel like we didnt get the full story for him, Jacob redeemed himself for me in this story and became so much nicer and Legacy... all ill say is wowee (in a good way 😉) If you want drama, twists, hotness and alphas galore then this is a series for you! *Read as part of Ku*
I’ve been waiting for fadeaway since I read the last page of the rivals touch. This is a lot darker than the 1st book and I strongly advise reading the TWs before getting this book.
This is one of those books you probably shouldn’t like. It’s dark, sick , twisted and full of spice but my god did I love every second. Remi needs all the love and in places I needed a break as I cried for her more than once. I enjoyed seeing her relationships grow as they all bonded together and the new addition to her little harem. (Although I do wish we got to see I little more of him in the ending). In places I was shouting at my kindle and in other I was sobbing. This duet is the first time I’ve read anything by Harleigh but after these books I want more.
Let me start by saying this book is extremely dark and has a long list of trigger warnings. Please make sure you look them up before proceeding.
Book two of the Rivals Duet, Fadeaway was nothing but amazing. We finally get answers since book one left us hanging. Remi continues to endure things no one should ever have to, and she just keeps showing us how strong she is. I also loved Remi and her harem. We even add one in this book and he's delicious. This book is so spicy that you will need a cold shower after you're done. I can't even begin to tell you how much I loved this book, and you really need to experience it for yourself. Run and grab your copy today, then thank me later.
