Upgrade: A Modern Day Why Choose Romance

Rate this book
This book does contain a few triggers such as bullying, mental abuse in a relationship, inability to have children, and prosthetics.
This book is why choose, meaning the female main character ends up with all of her love interests. It has vulgar language and explicit content. If any of these are lines for you, please DO NOT read. However, if a gun-shy heroine finding a slew of men to cater and love her is something that interests you, please proceed.

Olly thinks her life is going exactly the way her sister laid out for her. It's what she wants too. Kind of. But when it all comes crashing down and she's left with problem after problem, will she be strong enough to accept the love that comes her way. Or will the broody, moody, damaged men that keep flocking to her, be too much for her to handle?

Wheelan is a free man and that's the way he likes it. No ties, no commitments, and all the gorgeous women a man can take. It's the good life, until a fiery ball of fury causes a scene in the middle of a restaurant and uses his lips as an escape. Her spell can't be broke and suddenly his good life, doesn't feel so good.

Reed is torn between the garage and cooking, men and women, basically everything. Especially her. Will he let his past break what could be his future? Will his grumpy attitude and stilted conversations break her?

Carson refuses to go back to the person he once was. They say it takes more than seven years to be a lawyer, we'll see. He's got goals and the crazy girl that's occupying his mind isn't going to ruin it for him. But what is he supposed to do when a man that hurt her is the man he's supposed to go to work for?

Ansel had it all and lost it in the blink of an eye. His rebuilding has taken more than just a physical toll. Watching her for the first time cemented his resolve on the next step, but letting her in is going to be more difficult than he can imagine.

Tylar may look like the typical geeky tech nerd, but the dominant he keeps hidden beneath the surface, has more secrets than most people know. The curvy new assistant is about to find out all of his secrets, he's just got to make sure everyone is on the same page first.

Their story is a rollercoaster from the get go. Will they be able to get off the ride or will it always be this crazy?

It’s hard to like a FMC when she doesn’t like herself. I kept waiting for her to feel a bit of self-worth, but it never really happened. A lot of telling (paragraphs of recapping) with no real hard set timeline. For a group set on communication being key, there was still a lot of misunderstanding that turned me off. Heightened (dramatic) emotions that didn’t quiet feel authentic.

The codependency of the FMC with her friends (especially her guy friend who always seemed to be on call - seriously, Leena knows how to drive and we’re told her job is flexible) was really problematic and eventually Olly just transferred that codependency from Leena and Jax to the guys.

This book doesn’t end in pregnancy, which I appreciate, but again the lack of communication was annoying. Also, the vendetta of her ex felt forced and unrealistic.

I finished the book, there were cute and sweet parts, smut was decent, but won’t recommend it to others.
