“Yeah, I’m that guy,” Dylan replied.

The author, John Ruane, has made a protagonist with an invincible belief in what is right, in his faith, and in his ability to do what needs to be done. Many of the characters are shamelessly and delightfully taken from present day politicians. Even the FBI is the FBI of former years before its reputation was tarnished. An enjoyable read where the good guys win and the bad decisively lose. A fun read.

This was a GoodReads giveaway win of a Kindle ebook.

I kept thinking this was written ten years ago or so and formed the opinion that it was dated. But I find that it was in fact published just this year, so my opinion is less generous knowing current history. I would really have given it 1.5 stars.

I like to let the author unfold his/her story in their own way and try hard to just enjoy the development. And the set up was fair. But I think the chance to pit the radical left against the right would have played out better if it was more of the radical right versus the right. That would have introduced just another layer of nuance to fuzz up who is right and who is wrong.

"That guy" with the six shooter was over the top. And at the three quarter point church scenario, when the climax action sequence starts to take place, this story really goes over the top. NO sense of the real world at all. The real topper was the closing epilog segment. Really not my style. In no way would it happen.

Oh, shooting the bad guy to disable... so Hollywood. If you are going to do that, why not have one of the bad guys survive long enough to implicate the larger plot?

You may like this story, so give it a read. Meanwhile, I will be in search of my next GoodReads.

An intriguing story! I especially loved the twists throughout as to what has happened and what is currently happening in our country with references to the mind-bent liberal culture and how they've been weaponized via the ever-played out "Russian conspiracy" dogma. The fabrication of revolution and the government's ineptness in realizing such was right in line with today's puppet administration. The juxtaposition of evil in this novel was brilliant, and John Ruane displayed his best in the usual satirical truths. The melding of political woes into a militia/thriller is well rendered. His smearing the line between between both extremist factions in order to keep all those involved . . . involved, should positively bedazzle the most jaded of libertarians.

In this second novel in the Dylan Reilly thriller series, a rogue group of former Russian KGB agents launch deadly attacks on Washington, D.C. in an attempt to overthrow the U.S. government. In this sequel to the critically-acclaimed action-thriller, "A Dangerous Freedom," our hero, Dylan Reilly, works with the Secret Service to combat the deadly assaults, hoping to save the country. The story is fast-paced, with lots of action-packed scenes. The author has a way of putting the reader right in the middle of the action. Well-developed story, plots, and characters.

Tasteful thriller

I found this one packed with nail biting plots and twists that the title and cover promises.
A tasteful thriller that dives into a tight storyline held together with creative writing. Rarely I come across books that delivers on the shudder element when peeling away the life and death plotline.

I enjoyed the links between the actions in this novel with some of the January riots at the Capitol. The author was not afraid to add his own opinions either1
