Peach-Pit (ピーチ・ピット Pīchi Pitto) is a female manga artist duo in Japan, made up of Banri Sendo (千道 万里 Sendō Banri) and Shibuko Ebara (えばら 渋子 Ebara Shibuko). Their group name derives from the diner hangout Peach-Pit from the TV show Beverly Hills, 90210. Although both have similar styles, with some artwork it is possible to identify which artist drew it. Both are known for their bishōjo styled works. As noted in their books, they are both Geminis and have "Almost flushed our phones down the toilet...twice."

The two of them grew up together and went to the same elementary school and have been best friends ever since. Both started as doujinshi manga artists, but not as Peach-Pit. Then they were scouted by Dengeki Comic Gao!. In 2008, one of their manga, Shugo Chara!, was awarded the Kodansha Manga Award for best children's manga. Shugo Chara was also turned later into an Anime television series.

The presented Arc - I'm gonna call it "Climbing up the tower"- was such a drag. The author's could have let the side characters shine in other ways and opportunities rather than on a long stair up a tower.

Also, c'mon, I cannot even fanthom why they thought as a chairman of a seemingly powerful company would make sense at all...

What has been nagging me a lot: Many of the character's motives are explained in dire flashbacks, summarizing their experiences in boring dialogues.

Re-read 2022: OOOHHHHHHHH!!! YASSS~~~ 3 -> 4.5 stars. In this one new transformations, an epic battle, and the humpty key and lock get together and what happens next was just WOW. I just love that Utau was also there and helping out. Loved that Yaya showed that she wasn't just a baby but also could be strong. And then that transformation of both Amu and Ikuto, I loved it!
And I had a laugh at the boys will be boys parts, guys, really, I love that you want to protect Amu, but haha, you are just being a tad obnoxious now. XD
The ending made me gasp! And now I definitely need to read volume 10!

------------------------------

Re-read 2017: Wow, the 9th volume, and boy oh boy, so much happened. Sad things, brave things, amazing things, we have new transformations, new teams are forming (Utau and Yaya should do more together), and everyone is doing epic things.

I definitely loved that we saw Diamond again, she is so cute, and I love her transformation with Amu. But Amu also has another transformation and I think I have found my favourite transformation of them all. She looked so gorgeous.

I guess they found out how the lock and the key get together, and what it is holding. I was definitely sniffling a bit at all the memories that poured out of it. Poor Ikuto. He hasn’t had the easiest of lives. Losing all that, then being forced to do x and y, manipulated, and more.

His new transformation, or well, his true transformation, was just epicness. I love how he and Amu fit together. I know I was squeeing in delight. Their chemistry just went through the roof.

Of course the volume ends with a cliffhanger. But this time, and just for this once, I found that it fitted perfectly. I am really excited to see how everything will end! Boss revelation in 3, 2, 1… go!

It was really touching and Shugo Chara is one of my favorite anime. I wasn't that eager to read it since I already watched all the episodes of Shugo Chara before I read the manga, so I already know what was going to happen. But I know that I would be eager to read this manga if I haven't watched the whole thing.

This is a great manga and it kept me excited till the end.

Some mixed feelings on gender stereotypes, although in some ways this series also breaks down the stereotypes and ideas. Very empowering and positive though. I like Ikuto's pirate transformation, lol. And seeing Ikuto's backstory! I knew he'd played the violin to comfort Betty, not like what Tadase was thinking happened. Ugh, so many feelings for these characters, and the series is wrapping up!!

My eye twitches every time Amu talks about how sometimes, boys just need to fight with their fists, and girls are special because they fight with their words. Ew. I'm still gonna read it because I'm obsessed with cat boys and the books aren't usually this awful about gender roles, but boy does it reek of its 2009 publication date.

Adorable! This volume has some of the sweetest Ikuto and Amu moments, moments I remember being so hype for when I waited for each monthly update when it first was being released! It feels a bit shorter and quicker than the other volumes, but we get a lot: 2 big fights, Ikuto backstory, ANOTHER cliffhanger. Adored the volume!

Oh great, in this volume we have the "boys will be boys" and will thus fight (physically) each other and "girls can't understand that". Also, main character being able to do something "even though" she is a girl 🙄

Overall, this one was cute and enjoyable. HOWEVER, there are things I absolutely HATED. "Girls can't fight like boys" ??? Why even... That's rude.

For the past eight volumes, Shugo Chara! has been stressing to its readers that the inner heart is what matters and that a person's strength will overcome any obstacle - and they have managed to keep emphasizing these healthy goals without blowing them out of proportion or sounding like an after school program. These issues have been best showcased in our heroine of the series, Amu Hinamori, who started out as someone with low self-esteem who tried to match her outwardly cheerful persona with the painfully awkward person that lay inside herself, who has for lack of a more appropos term transformed into someone who is confident and strong and able to stand up with the other Guardians on equal ground - and in volume nine, we see Amu's journey to become a better person reach its cresting point with the unlocking of the Humpty Lock via the Dumpty Key and why she was chosen to be a Guardian in the first place.

Another person besides Amu who is rising to the challenge of character development is Yaya Yuiki, the Ace Chair and youngest member of the Guardians. Once seen as pretty much the crybaby immature member of the team, Yaya comes into her own during the fight against the - err - evil possessed dog. Let us not dwell too long over the fact that a dog, even if possessed by the power of an X Egg, could easily beat up so many magic-using Guardians before Yaya and Utau work together, or we'll start to wonder why Peach-Pit couldn't have come up with a more convincing mini-boss for Yaya to beat. Still, seeing Yaya stand up to protect her friends with her own magic and proving that even little kids can sometimes take on burdens further highlights the importance of inner strength in people - and also adds a much needed element of humor to the events leading up to the Ikuto/Tadase/Amu fight at the top. Seeing Tadase and Ikuto battle it out is the near-height of action in the ninth volume until the sudden plot twist at the end, and it will certainly not disappoint anyone interested in seeing them fight and how their respective abilities clash. Add to that all the new insight into the Hoshina family and any Ikuto fan would be hard pressed not to love this latest volume.

As usual, Peach-Pit brings their usual art style to the world of Shugo Chara!, improving upon the usual tropish hallmarks of magical girl manga with flashy fight scenes and cool fashion, especially when it comes to the numerous Character Transformations - like Amu's final CT thanks to the lock-and-key combination. With the reveal of the Embryo and its inevitable capture (which felt slightly underwhelming in context, given how flashy everything else was), it's clear that Shugo Chara! is gearing up for the big finale - the Guardians versus Easter Corporation, with the literal hearts and minds of the people of the world at stake. Can Peach-Pit possibly wrap everything up in the next two volumes in a way that will please all of their fans? Possibly, although knowing PP it won't really be the end (they have a history of continuing series in separate 'sequel' series', as they did with Rozen Maiden). Still, for a series on the edge of ending, volume nine has all the action and intrigue of its predecessors that it will leave readers looking forward to the release of volume ten early next year - and I think it will be worth the wait.

Aaaah!! this is an amazing and inspiring manga about a girl who seems cool and collected on the OUTSIDE, but shes really a nervous wreck. take my advice and read it. It also has an anime that's complete, and had me basically bawling my eyes out. (I hated how it HAD to end!) :) Hurry up and go get the manga! Go!!!!! (I'm totally doing you a favor. No need to thank me.) :) Happy reading!

Amu was a great character, she was a little whiny at times but overall she was able to fight and stand up for what she believed in. I liked her relationship with everyone else.

The guardians added some comedic humor to the series and you can't go wrong with a little battle magic.

For fans of Sailor Moon and Tokyo Mew Mew.

I'm not an Ikuto fan, and it's obvious how much I love TadAmu. But, I do love me some Tikuto as well. Tadase x Ikuto is a nice pairing. And, it's nice that Tadase cares enough about Ikuto to have everyone go save him.

Also, I enjoyed Amu's new character transformation, Amulet Fortune.

Top notch art. Solid narrative, but some confusing panel transitions. So sugary cute I needed to brush my teeth after reading it.
