This looked to be right in my alley, since I'm a huge fan of heroines who change up the hero's life like a whirlwind. Lori Foster is always a bit hit or miss with me, but I was intrigued enough to hope for the best.

Alas, this was definitely a miss. A big one at that.

I'm not a huge fan of fast romances that play over a short period in general. Here half of the book plays on the day they meet, then we get stuff about a week later, and the ending is one month after that. The pacing is just all kinds of wrong, and didn't add to the believability of the romance.

I can understand lust at first sight though, so I can forgive that. What I cannot forgive is that the hero doesn't want to feel this lust, so he acts out on the heroine. In a massive way. He's mean and insulting, not only in his actions towards her, but also in his thoughts.

Wynn is a tall girl of 6 ft, almost as tall as the hero. She's also quite sporty and not very feminine in her behavior. Zack refers to her as big (and even giant a couple of times) every other sentence. His penis finds her sexy, but his mind is revolted and it never, ever stops. As the 6ft amazonian built heroine in my own story I grew very tired of that, and ended up being insulted. (Especially when in the sequel Mr. November (Men To The Rescue #5) Wynn is again referred to as big and giant and manly, which means it's not really a hang-up of the character Zack, but more of the author).

Now I know that the average length in America is lower than it is here, and I tend to chuckle a bit when men are described as very tall at 6 ft, when here that's just slightly above average. I'm quite tall for a woman here, and I realize I'd be even more tall in comparison elsewhere, but a reaction like this seems totally out of proportion and mean to me. I'm pretty sure that if you'd change the heroine from tall to simply not a size 0 (I'm not entirely sure how American sizes work, but I mean a heroine who isn't model sized, but rather normal woman sized) and change the word big for the word fat (As in "She was sexy, even though she was fat. She was fat, but she turned him on so much), I'm pretty sure the outrage would be huge. Imagine if the heroine resembled your body-type and you were described in a derogatory manner throughout the book.

What's even worse is that not once we see Zack actually being nice to her. They are either fighting (with a running commentary of all his nasty thoughts) or getting it on, and then suddenly there is a HEA a month later? Ha! And Zack doesn't even really apologize. I'm sorry but Wynn deserved so much better, and I didn't buy it for a minute.

I read category romance for the quick feel-good vibe of them, but this one just left a really bad taste in my mouth and I'm all grumpy and in a bad mood. Failure all around, and it'll take ages before I try another Lori Foster again.

Fun book. Zack is a single dad to a four year old girl. He wants to marry again and give his daughter a mother. But with his schedule as a paramedic and his definite ideas on what he wants, he hasn't had much success in his search. Wynn is thrilled to have her own place to live after sharing with a couple roommates. She'd love to find a man who will love her for who she is, but isn't very hopeful right now.

I loved their first meeting. Zack is awakened after a long night on duty by the racket of someone moving in next door. He looks out the window to see a tall, beautiful woman and a big man moving boxes and arguing all the way. He's struck by her height and the physicality of the relationship between them. Before he can back away from the window, his daughter Dani calls out to the new people and Wynn and her companion come over for coffee and introductions. Zack is attracted to Wynn, but somewhat put off by her attitude. However, he can't deny his daughter's fascination with her new friend. Wynn is just as attracted to Zack, which surprises her. She's used to being around fit, good-looking men and they've never affected her like that. She's so unsettled that she behaves even more outrageously than usual. She senses Zack's attraction, but can also see that he's not happy about it.

I liked Zack. He's a terrific father to little Dani. I loved seeing the macho man brushing her hair and taking her shopping. She is the center of his world. He wants to find a wife that is more of a girly-girl to offset the influence of being raised by a man and his bachelor friends. His reaction to Wynn throws a kink in those plans. It was fun to see him fight his feelings, as he demonstrates a bit of possessiveness and protectiveness, while at the same time trying to stay away from her. I got a little frustrated with his obsession about her size, as though that would keep her from being a good mom.

I loved Wynn. She's a woman who is mostly comfortable in her own skin, confident in her own abilities. She is attracted to Zack from the beginning and makes no secret of it, checking him out the same way that men look at women. Her heart gets involved as she sees how wonderful he is with Dani and she dreams of what it would be like to have them both in her life.

I loved seeing the relationship progress as Zack starts to realize that though she may not be what he was looking for, she is what his heart wants. I really loved the scene with the ladder, where those feelings start to become obvious to others if not to himself. Wynn was a goner almost from the beginning, but she worried that he would never see her as more than a playmate. She had a few insecurities of her own that fed into that fear and it was fun to see Zack overcome them. I loved their scene when he found her sleeping in the hammock. I loved seeing him realize the truth about his feelings, though he almost ruined it all with some of the things she overheard him say. The ending was really good.

I also enjoyed the relationship Zack had with Mick and Josh. It was really fun to see them teasing each other about various things. I felt a little bit bad for Josh when he lost out on getting Wynn for himself, just as he had with Mick's wife. I'm looking forward to his story.

- Dijo Dani"

This was not my favorite Lori Foster book, and I honestly I was slightly disappointed with this especially the romance. I felt there were very little romance between Wynn and Zack. There really wasn’t a lot of relationship development between them especially in the emotional aspect of the story. It was like they met, they were attracted to each other, they fought the attraction, the gave into it, and boom they were in love. It was too quick. Too much whirlwind and not enough of a build up where it was believable that they were totally head over heels in love with each other. They barely got to know each other through the course of the book. I just didn’t like that at all. There no real emotional intimacy. No heart to hearts. No moments of vulnerabilities between them. A whole of a rush to the finish line type of relationship, and I didn’t like that at all. Yes, there were moment of caring and tenderness when she hurt her toe, but other that there were not a lot of tender moments between them. No softness, and not a lot of romance.

It was really hard to behind them as a couple. I didn’t even like them as couple together. To me, they just didn’t fit and that was supported by the story with the few and far between scenes of them together where they weren’t either fighting their attraction off to each other or just engaging in carnal pleasures. I just didn’t get the soul mate type of love between Zack and Wynn. I just didn’t.

The part of the book that I did absolutely fall in love with was Zack’s daughter, Dani. I thought. I just thought she was so cute and so adorable that I just wanted to squeeze her. I loved the bit a sassiness that she had. She really provided some really humorous moments in the book, and I loved every time she popped out the page. I loved seeing her relationship with Zach, which was so stinking sweet and adorable, and also loved seeing her interaction with Wynn, which was really cute and adorable too. I loved the interactions between each of them and that was where I really saw the love coming through. And it was hard not to fall in love with Dani so I could see why Wynn and Zack loved her to pieces because I loved her too.

I think what I missed from this book was the usual Lori Foster flair that I have become accustomed too. For one, her more current books are a lot longer and more detailed while with this one it was shorter and tended to rush the romance through due to lack of space, and therefore lack of development. With Lori Foster’s current books, there is a lot of anticipation and build up between the couple before they consummate their relationship with little teases here and there for what will coming between the smoking hot couple, while in this one there was anticipation, but not a lot. It was almost too quick form when Wynn and Zack met to when they slept together the first time. I could have done with it being drawn out a little bit more to add a bit more zing to the story. Another thing I really missed was the suspense aspect that Lori Foster has become known in her larger formats. I didn’t think I would miss that aspect as much as I did, but I really did. I missed that heart stopping, edge of your seat, fingernail biting secondary storylines that just added another layer to the story and really amped up the romance and intensity to the story where it would be a real page turner. In this story that was not the case, there was none of that, and it was just a straight up romance, which wasn’t a bad thing, but I think I was just expecting that some suspense aspect would be in there since that’s what I expect from Lori Foster. The story just needed something else more to add to the excitement of the book.

Overall, this book wasn’t my favorite, and I was slightly disappointed with it, but it wasn’t the worst book I’ve ever read either. The romance did not do it for me. I really didn’t like Wynn and Zack as a couple. I didn’t get it. All I could see going for them was physical chemistry and not much else. There weren’t a lot of open conversations of the emotional variety where they revealed their vulnerabilities or the fears or anything like that really that would have bonded them together or brought theme closer. They didn’t have a lot of emotional intimate scenes together, and I really needed that in order to back them as couple. Their relationship was just really, really rushed and very unbelievable to me. There needed to be more anticipation and buildup between the two of them as they got to know each other more and more throughout the book, and there wasn’t a lot of that. There was just not a lot of emotional closeness even if there was physical closeness. It wasn’t enough for me. Their love scenes were okay, but not fantastic despite the fact that they had that attraction between them I was expecting a lot more. They didn’t even make it to the bedroom and have an intimate scene there. I need there to be at least one love scene where there were in bed, but none existed. Also I wish there was a little bit more the story than there actually was like some type of suspense or mysterious element like other Lori Foster books because I think would have been huge for me. I would have been more engaged in the story, and it would have made it a real page turner I think. It would have added so much to the romance and done away that it enhanced it instead of detracting from it. Then I think it would have been more compelling for me. I did love Dani in this book, and she was the highlight of it. I loved how she added so much to the story with her little scenes and just seeing how she interacted with both Zack and Wynn, who absolutely adored her. Who could blame them? That was where the love story truly was with Dani and not between Wynn and Zack. She was just so stinking cute. She was the saving grace of the entire story and made it worth the read.

Zack is a single father to his 4-year old Dani and on the lookout for a nice, domesticated wife who can teach his daughter to be a lady. That means that his new neighbor, Wynn, a tall, “Amazonian”-like woman who acts like one of the guys is completely unsuitable, even if she does fire his blood and spark his interest. He absolutely refuses to consider her. But that doesn’t mean he can’t have an affair with her. Wynn though is far more than what she seems and Dani takes a shine to her. Zack is finding it difficult to go searching for a future wife when he can’t stop thinking about Wynn.

So...I was actually kinda hoping that Zack, being a single father and a dad-like figure and all that would be somewhat likeable. He isn’t. Deciding that he resented being attracted to such an unsuitable woman, Zack is outright mean to Wynn. He isn’t the least bit kind or interested in her as a person, but he can’t stop harping on how sexy she is for such a big woman. He’s totally interested in an affair, and his lust comes across clear as crystal. But at no point in this story do I get the sense that Zack LIKES Wynn...he desires her, but he doesn’t like her. And that’s where the romance falls short for me. I’ve gotta feel like the heroine and hero actually do want to spend time together and I didn’t get that sense here. Not until after the off-the-page 3 weeks had gone by and they’d been sleeping together, but even then Zack didn’t think twice about sitting down with his buddies and talking about how very unsuitable Wynn is to be his wife. She overhears of course, but Zack chases her down and changes his mind about all that in a matter of minutes. Which made it totally unbelievable.

Also gotta comment, like everyone else, on the author’s need to hammer home, repeatedly, the fact that Wynn was “big.” It’s clear she’s not overweight and she apparently has the body of a model with a flat tummy and all that, but what the author really meant by “big” was “tall and muscular.” But to me, describing a woman as big, in any sense of the word, sounds pretty rude. And the overuse of this exact adjective to describe her was overkill. I get it, she’s not petite, she’s not dainty, but why do we need to keep saying she’s big?

I was so looking forward to Zack's story, but was a little disappointed. I loved getting to know the character of Dani (his 4 year old daughter) and laughed out loud several times at some of the adorable things she said.

I was disappointed in all the references to Wynn's size. I understand that the author was trying to get us to understand that she was not a petite little thing, but still it seemed like every interaction there was some reference to her size.

Delilah refers to her as having a body like a model, but other than that it seemed like all the references were not positive. I appreciated the way Zack fell in love with her despite how different she was from what he set out to find, but I was bothered by all the references to her as big, huge, amazon, etc.

How the author talks about tall women as "big", "Amazonian", and "heavy" is nearly offensive. It really took away from the story for me.

I was immensely disappointed with how this book went the more I read it. It started off really really well. I really loved the idea of a single dad looking for love (well, a role model for this daughter) and I really enjoyed their father-daughter dynamic.

When Wynnona Lane moved next door, introducing herself as everything what Zack was not looking for in a wife, I found it very refreshing. Her character was very refreshing and how she built a relationship with Zack’s daughter, Dani made me really like her. And how she made her intentions and feelings known to him from the start was great.

What made me tick was, throughout the book, Zack kept on pointing out how she was “big” as if that was all he cared about (also the fact that she was loud and one-with-the-guys that just didn’t bide well with him). If it was once of twice, I wouldn’t really mind it but his mentioning of her size was there in almost every scene and after a while it got really...frustrating.

Not to mention, Wynn’s family repetitively pointing out her size as well, to the point that Wynn’s was poking fun at her size as well that just didn’t sit right with me. I felt that to be self-depreciating at that point and that really saddenned me. And this line from Zack’s friend hit a spot:

“You’re an ass, Zack.” Josh shook his head in pity. “Wynn is terrific. She’s independent and intelligent and honest. Yeah she’s outspoken, but so what? You never have to guess at what she’s thinking. And I like the way she dresses.”

If it weren’t for this, I would’ve definitely enjoyed the book. Everything else was great, Wynn’s family dynamic, her bodybuilder friends and Zack’s circle of friends made this book relatively bearable.

Overall star rating: 3 out of 5

Couldn't find the right cover so I'm writing here. This story has a very important thing for all of us to learn don't judge a book by its cover! I loved how Zack Grange is portrayed for it gives us a look at what some "guys" might think. I loved the way Lori weaved this story. For she starts the book of in a perspective of a guy's point of view. Then she gets the ball rolling. Its fun reading the book. For Zack ideals are tested then torn down. One step at a time. Its a joy to read for you find yourself turning the page just to see what's happening next. I found myself turning the page just to see what Wynn was up to. I also wanted to see how things were going with Wynn and Zack 's daughter. Watching the relationship grow was fun to watch. Just seeing Zack change his ideal woman was worth the read. It was a fun book and a great read. I'm waiting for your next book in your new series called s Slow ride. Til then keep writing! J

A fast read that was full of fun and light hearted moments. I loved that Wynn had a fun and engaged family and group of friends. I adored that she was tall and still seen as sexy by many. What holds me back a little is how much her height, built and demeanor is seen as negative through much of Zach’s internal dialogue. Their chemistry was great and the scenes with the friends, family and of course Dani will warm your heart. But I did not expect Zach to be so against her because she wasn’t dainty and perfectly polite. Interestingly enough Josh, who I did not like that much in the previous book was one that I enjoyed more in this story. His time with Dani and then support of Wynn made me excited for his story! Also, I want to see more of these bodybuilders! They sound so fun, especially Connan.

Good....but...

I am usually a huge fan of Lori Foster's writing. And I did like this story.... However, I struggled a bit with the fact that the heroine in this book is continually referred to as "big"... all of her attributes...big. Don't get me wrong, she's not described as an overweight woman, but tall and muscular. But every time a describing word was needed, the author used the word big. Big bones, big hands, big bottom...and that wasn't what the hero envision for himself. He wanted petite and feminine... Insinuating that "big" wasn't "right for him". It was not necessarily offensive, but was a bit much for me. Other than that, this was a fun story.

Wow, I needed something uplifting after the past few days binging on all that is the Golden State Killer arrest. Pick a romance, I thought. Light, breezy, guaranteed happy story.

Wow, Zack is a terrible person. He thought and VOICED every insulting word that came to his mind. Wynn has giant wrists. She's too loud, doesn't wear appropriate clothing, etc., etc., etc. I would burn this book if it wasn't downloaded.

Wynn and Zack's story...
Zack is a single dad, Wynn is his new neighbor. Dani, Zack's daughter, is a blunt, yet adorable little girl!
I liked this book...but it is not my favorite Lori Foster book. I mostly struggled with the way he kept saying/telling himself Wynn was not what he wanted, but yet persued her. Almost like he settles for her??? I have been a huge fan of Lori Foster's, but not really this one.

Great read

Zack and Wynn are an awesome couple. Dani has to be Lori Fosters' best character ever. Would love an update on the status of a baby brother for Dani. All the secondary characters are interesting and absolutely hysterical. I would recommend this story to any adult reader who enjoys sexy heroes and strong heroines.

Loved this book!! Zack and Wynn are such an unlikely match - But when the chemistry is there, things just have a way of heating up. Dani was such a great addition to their journey - she sure kept the humor coming. Glad to see old friends joining it.

This was fine. It started out very cute, but I feel like things escalated very quickly and didn’t follow a typical relationship curve. I was excited about the hero and heroine, so it was kind of a bummer when their whole relationship was squished until the later 1/3 of the book.

The perception of a large woman is that she is manish, crude, one of the guys and not sexy. Wynn has that perception of herself and so does Zack. It takes him a while to see the real Wynn. You're gonna love their story

Right Woman For The Disillusioned Man And His Precocious Child!

Anything Lori Foster always entices me and I have to read her stories; no matter how far back the book was published! Treat Her Right, is book #4 of the PI & Men To the Rescue Series. This had me laughing out loud and was so much fun! The protagonists were great, but the supporting characters and a little girl stole the spotlight.

Physiotherapist and Tall Amazonian, Wynonna "Wynn" Lane has a heart of gold, is extremely honest, and very strong. She has always known that she is the atypical woman, but despite this awareness she has learned to be comfortable in her skin. She remains curious and innocent, as she navigates through the various phases of her life. She is about to embark on a very important adult step of home ownership. However, the neighbour next door with his adorable daughter and interfering well-meaning friends, might just teach her some important lessons of love and security.

Paramedic and Single Dad, Zack Grange, has some pre-conceived notions about the type of woman he should date to ensure a stable future for his young charge. His work keeps him busy and his friends are supportive, but day-by-day, he sees the need for companionship. It has been difficult dating due to time constraints and responsibilities. However, the new neighbour next door with her loud blunt comments, dedicated work ethic, honest answers, constant teasing, and statuesque figure has attracted his attention. She may appear all wrong in Zack's eyes, but who has control over one's feelings and fate?

I read this book in one day because it held my attention. I couldn't wait to continue and was sad when it ended. There were so many colourful and varied characters, wonderful dialogue, and a unique premise with unlikely protagonists. The little girl was adorable and very mature. Knowing that there are other books that follow the story of these cast members, has me intrigued! I can't wait to read further as well as go back to explore other stories. The fireworks and build up between the main characters jumped off of the pages!

I enjoyed my ride and time immensely. If you love to laugh out loud and read about a strong heroine, an alpha male, a cute child, some uniformed men, and a vibrant cast, you will not be sorry! Definitely worth checking out!

Setting: my house, his house – neighbors - hammock

Theme: falling in love, with the person who fascinates you, not the imaginary planned one

Characters:
Zack Grange – paramedic, friends with Mick & Josh, has a daughter – wife died at when in a car accident when going to the hospital in early labor; he’s decided that his daughter needs a mother (after she asked about feminine pads after seeing a commercial on tv)
Dani Grange – 4 years old – cute, speaks her mind, well loved, affectionate. She decides that she wants to keep Wynn – mother for her and wife for dad.
Wynonna ‘Wynn’ Lane – physical therapist… an Amazon – tall, built, gorgeous. She moves into the house next to Zack, and catches Zack and Dani’s attention. Speaks her mind, kind hearted, one of the boys (hanging out with Conan’s friends since forever).
Conan Lane – Wynn’s body building, gym owning brother
Mick and Josh – friends

Summary:
Zack and Wynn… falling in love… Zack hesitates because Wynn isn’t the petite, quiet, housewife he thought he was looking for… but she is irresistible to him. After feeling perhaps a bit too pushy, Wynna backs off for a week, with friendly waves but nothing more… which was the right way to handle Zack, because he wants her all the more… She’s a bit insecure with her body and her strong personality, but not too much, and Zack sure does like her body… her parents (mom a hippy, dad a ‘flaming’ metrosexual hair dresser) come to stay with her between houses (sold one, deciding where to buy another)… all are love Dani and Zack… ahhh

ADORO!!!

RECOMENDADÍSSIMO!!!

I loved this book. While older, it hit all my favorite bits: strong, outspoken woman; hot men friends; a true hero as the hero; and, if a child must be part of the plot, make that child adorable. I feel like I've read the other books in this series, and while this can be a stand alone, I now feel an intense urge to find them and re-read them.

T852. Oct01 Wynn Lane, physical therapist, has bought a house which is next door to Zack Granger, paramedic. Zack has a 4yr old daughter, Dani, and has realized she needs a woman in her life so he is looking. Wynn does not what he has been thinking of in a possible wife. Her parents show up and have decided it's time to find a house and live near their son and daughter.
