Being a detective's assistant goes from dull to DUCK! fast.
Being the assistant to a supernatural detective takes it three steps further. But Tina is too curious and too hooked on the adventure of it all to walk away.
She is bound and determined to figure out Tell's world, and Tell himself, but danger lurks everywhere for a human who doesn't understand the lay of the land. This becomes even more evident as Tina and Tell start a search for a young woman who has gotten in over her head with a group of paranormals that stole a literal pile of gold. A chance encounter with a Djinn while chasing a lead gives her some unexpected answers and a lot more questions. She's never going to look at anything about Tell or his world the same again.
I gave the first book two stars, but potentially it could have been much better. The main problem was Tina, she was just so annoying at times, however it probably wouldn’t take much to stop her being so irritating. I also had some issues with the author’s style, but I thought I would give the series another chance. Unfortunately the book starts with more of ‘Hunter’ who is even more obnoxious than Tina and then the author throws in an encounter with a Djinn and she became even more aggravating.
The story and Tina do improve, but I found the ‘world’ less and less convincing as the author kept introducing more ’creatures’. I also still had problems with the author’s style, especially when there are pages and pages that say nothing. In the end I decided this series really wasn’t for me.
Tina is still the absolute worst. I have no idea why Tell and Hunter and any of the other dudes remotely like her. She’s such a judge mental bitch. Tell and the others are worth reading these books. Tina can eff off.
3 1/2 stars rounded up. While the first book was about Tell's world, and Chloe was just a pair of eyes to allow it to unfold, this book is much more about her.
I like that about it. It's a fun premise, how she gets to find herself further in the supernatural world, and well executed. I like the set up for the next book too, it looks like it will be intriguing.
But at any rate, it was fun and I'll be continuing on with the series.
I gave a mid rating to the first book of 3 1/2 stars but this is a solid 4 trending up. I read all 5 books and will continue to read more as she releases them. The review below covers the entire series.
The author clearly puts a great deal of effort into the content, ie they’re not just throw some words on the KU page books; and the world building is interesting and thorough. I didn’t actually enjoy every aspect which I think is better. I read really fast - a couple of books a day typically - so if I’m not careful, I’ll accidentally skim and lose the plot. These plots and characters are different and complex, not typical urban fantasy, although they are urban fantasy books. I had to focus to keep all the threads in my mind which shows a far greater skill of storytelling. I also didn’t love every character and I didn’t love every aspect of the main character but, and this is important, a real person isn’t always perfectly loveable. People are complex and great books have real people as characters. I highly recommend this series. It definitely develops and grows and is well worth the read.
Tina, the perfect heroine in Chloe Garner’s Tell, The Detective series, may have not had an auspicious start when she walks into the office of paranormal detective Tell to dee if he can find her parents’ murderer, but this leads to a pretty darn amazing change in her life as she becomes Tell’s assistant and over the course of four fantastic books, Tell Me A Secret (Book 1), Tell It Like It Is (Book 2), Show and Tell (Book 3) and Time Will Tell (Book 1), she experiences extraordinary adventure and much more. This is highly addictive stuff. So good that I could not put the books down, addictively reading them over a holiday weekend with barely a pause fir food or sleep. My husband was quite annoyed with me, but it was worth it. A pure adrenaline blast of fun with a perfect set of lead and supporting characters, and superbly written plots that were just plain fun to read. I most definitely highly recommend each of these books.

LOVED this second book in the series. That encounter with the Djinn opens up a whole new world for Tina but I wont give away any spoilers. Next book please!
Tina and Tell is to paranormal fiction as Sherlock Holmes is to detective stories. Holy Toledo, this is so engaging and the character development is simply outstanding. If you, as a reader, like your thinking challenged a bit with rhetorical questions and answers, if you are tempted to peek into the deepest recesses of a vampires moods and thoughts, if you want to visually experience how a vampire exists during the day…then please allow this series to enlighten you in a most unexpected way.
I was thrilled with the writing from the beginning to the end. Highly recommended.
Tina and Tell are back and on the job, this time a man is missing his daughter and Tina has a drink that tastes fantastic but somehow doesn’t agree with her. To save the man’s daughter they will have to deal with paranormal beings who can be very dangerous even to vampires, not only that but these beings have also stolen something that doesn’t belong to them but not only that but who they stole it from is extremely dangerous and wants what they stole back. If you would like the whole story then I recommend you get your own copy of this book and read the whole story yourself, you are in for a treat;)
Great series Tina's parents are murdered. The police haven't been able to solve the crime, yet. She goes looking for help and meets Tell. He seems weird, but eventually is finding clues to the murder. This is book two and some of the weirdness is explained. Things that go bump in the night are real, Tell is a vampire, and there are more interesting characters revealed as the search continues. Entertaining and a nice read.
Wow way better than the first book. I was slightly concerned in the first book of where the direction was going. I'm glad I decided to stick with it. Wish the new Tina wasn't temporary as she was much more interesting in this book. What can I say, I really enjoyed it.
These are stunningly well written stories with a wealth of detail which sucks you deep down into this superbly written world! I love the characters and their seriously strange and complicated relationships. Once you've stepped into this paranormal world you won't want to step back out! Highly recommended.
An interesting and entertaining read, I enjoyed this paranormal detective book. I like the characters and the storyline is cool. My main issue with this series is that the whole book seems to be one extremely long chapter. There are no breaks for the commencement of a new chapter. However, that aside, still an enjoyable read.
Congratulations to Chloe Garner for this amazing series. It’s hard to find such an interesting and exciting author who not only writes intelligently but also provides top rated plots, characters and excitement in the stories. I’m really looking forward to the next book in the series.
I liked this world. I enjoyed reading this book and also the first. It is character driven, with lots of interplay between Tina and Tell. While I emersed myself in their world, I did get a little bored with the story in the middle of the book. Wishing for more advancement in the story line. Chloe did not disappoint; she did pick up the thread.
Loved the story, loved the characters and stayed up far too late to finish the book 😜 Book one was interesting and this one was intriguing. I was guessing most of the way through. Excellent work.
Another delightful book in the series. I find myself really caring about the characters and their many flaws. A fun world, a goofy adventure, and I like that the relationships are complicated and I can’t tell where they’re going next.
I really enjoyed this book and had a really good storyline. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the storyline quite like this book and how it ended in everything. I thought the writing did a really good
I wasn't expecting to like this book. I don't read romance, and this wasn't that. It started off as a "you killed my parents, now I'm going to get revenge", but quickly changed to something much better! Loved the action, and adored the dialogue!
Wow. This is a book and a half. Chloe as usual takes no prisoners. I was grabbed by the collar and dragged along on an intense exciting ride. Fully immersed into the story.
I don’t do spoilers so you’ll just have to read this to get the full flavour. But I guarantee you won’t be disappointed .
Although I enjoyed the first book in this series, I certainly wasn’t expecting the way this story went. It gave an extraordinarily insight of what it could be like to be a vampire and it was awesome. I was spellbound throughout.
I’m totally spent but I wouldn’t have missed this story for the world.
