Saltwater Secrets (Westcott Bay Novel Book 3) by Amelia Addler ARC REVIEW Jade and Matthew A series of events threaten Jades safety, can she and Matthew solve the mystery?
Wszystko to zostało opisane w poprzednim tomie.
Jade Clifton is trying to put her life back together after a divorce and is now living back home in Westcott Bay. She is looking for her new normal as a single woman, so she decides to get to know more people in her community and takes on a project to save a piece of land donated to the town. What she does not plan on is that someone is trying to stop her at all costs. The only plus side is that the new handsome deputy Matthew Stevens is on the case.
Matthew Stevens is the new Sheriff’s deputy in town, and he takes his job very seriously. When threats are made against Jade, he vows to protect her at all costs. Even when he is not on duty, he watches out for Jade, but that’s just part of the job right?
Jade and Matthew are friends, and both are harboring feelings for the other, but the timing just does not seem to work in their favor. Will these two be able to solve the crime and come clean with their feelings before it is too late?
Another brilliant novel by Amelia Addler. I love how the books in the series focus on one set of characters but also involve past characters from the previous novels. It is like coming home again. I adored the story, the characters, and the added touch of mystery. I did read the series in order, but Amelia does write a little introduction to the book with a synopsis of what has happened so far if you are reading it as a stand a lone novel which is very helpful. I give this series 5 out of 5 stars and I cannot wait for the next book to be released in the fall.
I liked the main story and, as usual the characters were well described. There were some new characters to make the story more interesting, and all of the old characters. Unlike the previous stories, I thought this book has several boring parts that did nothing to add to the story and just served to drag the story out. For the first time I found myself skipping parts to get back to the main story. Others might feel differently and think they enhance the story so this is just my opinion. In the first two books in this series I didn’t skip any parts, so I feel there was a difference in this particular story. It was still a good story and if you want to read the entire series, as I do,one you shouldn’t miss reading. The story itself would get more stars. The three stars were for all the parts I felt held up the main story.
And here's another would be hallmark mystery. There is VERY little relationship development between Jade and Matthew, which is complicated by his ex girlfriend until like 90% through the book. HM movies work because the main characters look at each other with meaningful glances, even if there's something keeping them apart. It's why you watch until 5 mins before the end for the kiss. This is just missing the pieces to get the connection and slow burn.
Jade gets political to stop development of land on the island and is repeatedly harassed and (trigger for some) her house is set on fire.
This was interesting for tv but in a book, you need more about who hired the man who was doing this to her and WHY.
Light suspense.
And the trite if the dog likes her then she must be a good person was eyeroll worthy.
This is the 3rd book in this series that started with a mother, Margie, moving to San Juan Island after her brother gives her his home. She yearns to start a new life after her divorce and provide a home for her adult children. Each book follows one of the family members. This one follows Jade, one of Margie's daughters, who is still recovering from her own divorce and finally being free of her verbally and emotionally abusive husband. As she takes on a project to save some land from development, she finds herself the focus of attacks, one of which almost takes her life. Matthew is a sheriff's deputy who is new to the island and trying to make a home. As he is tasked with protecting Jade, it becomes personal to him. But, what about Jade? She is not ready for another relationship. A feel-good novel without any offensive elements.
It was good but these books need a little more spice. My favorite character is Morgan and she is probably why I keep reading them. The people are all nice and I’m so glad the story isn’t heavy. Even when the bad people are arrested, there isn’t even a fight. Jared is arrested by Hank and Matthew walking up on the stage. Jared didn’t even try to run. These books are very clean and do not have any curse words at all. Not my favorite series but I’m invested into their small town and have to see what happens next.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I'm really enjoying this series, but it lacks detail and depth (a little bit of realistic common sense) for parts of the story - solving the hit n run, finding out who is trying to hurt Jade, etc. To be totally honest, the story would have been so much better if it was the ex-husband going after her, or if he was conspiring with the actual people that were trying to hurt her. There is just so much happening and the story could be so much better if the author dove more into the story and gave it depth and detail.
Saltwater Secrets continues the Westcott Bay novels. This is Jade's story after her divorce from Brandon. This book has quite a bit of suspense as Jade become's the victim of several odd crimes. I have grown to love these sisters and their mother. The characters are well developed. The stories are unique, well written and hold my attention. I had to finish the book in one sitting. I highly recommend this series.
I've really loved this series! Gotta love these sisters and their mom! Lots of action and suspense as they navigate their world. This one is Jade's story. She is recently divorced from her manipulative husband, Brandon. Some strange crimes start to plague her. Can she find true love? Is she ready for love? Can she figure out who is the mastermind behind the crimes? Join us for this amazing ride:) Happy Reading!
I received a free ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed reading this story! It had me guessing right to the end who the culprit was who was causing the havoc for Jade. The character were interesting and intriguing at the same time. The small town on the San Juan Island was a perfect sitting. This is the first book I have read by this author and it has made me want more😀. I received a complimentary copy of this book and chose to write a review.
Book 3 in this Westcott Bay series held my attention as much as the first two books. The story was primarily about Jada who is trying to find herself after her divorce from a controlling husband. Jada's husband, Brannon, did not physically abuse her but worse; he mentally abused her. Putting her down, making her feel inadequate and that she did not support him in his efforts. When all he wanted was her money. This is a hard thing to recover from and works on you mentally. Jada has a lot of support from her family. But in the end, you have to learn to stand on your own. Give this story a read and follow Jada's struggles over her interests and her love.
This book is the 3rd in a series. Like the other 2, it’s another quick, easy read. I like the characters, but found the plot really far fetched. I also noticed a few grammatical errors. But, what I found most annoying is the mom in the book is the same age I am, but acts like a much older woman.
The third book in the series continues with Jade's story and introduces her sister Tiffany. It combines family, intrigue and romance and is another enjoyable read from Amelia Addler. I am looking forward to the last in the series "Saltwater Crossing" , to find out if there is a "happy ever after" for Tiffany.
Back on San Juan Island and it's time to focus on Jade. I like the way each book focuses on one character while still bringing in all the others; makes for a fantastic, light reading series. There was just enough suspense in this one to keep you reading on. A "feel good" series perfect for the times we are all currently experiencing. Onto the next one!!!
A little mystery, a little romance, all with characters you are rooting for. Matthew's ex-girlfriend shows up and throws a damper on Jade's feelings for Matthew. Someone doesn't want Jade to succeed with her committee's plans. Tiffany returns home without explanation. Looking forward to reading book 4 in the series.
I love the way each book has a quick recap of what happened in the previous books. Also the characters that you know and love reappear in each story. They are a family, I feel as though I know them. They are very real and with each book you learn more about them. Great read!!!
There were some interesting moments in the book but the writing is deteriorating with each story told. I think I’m done with this series. It started out well enough but it has lost its’ zip, sorry to say. I had to go back and see how old Margie was because of the references to her being old …seriously, she’s only 48. Hardly Old.
3rd book in the series and the one that took me the longest to finish. I didn't hate it but won't be raving about it. I really enjoyed the first two books but this one just fell a bit flat for me. I thought the character development was lacking, as well as the story between Jade and Matthew. A lot of extra little bits added in that are completely unnecessary.
Very good story Love the characters. who knows what will happen in the next book. Happy reading. I hope another mystery involves and we find out more about the love story
I’m having fun with what I would consider light reading. Just enough intrigue and romance to keep it interesting. Join us for another romp in the islands. If you’ve never been to Puget Sound and seen all these islands, you are missing out.
This could have been a spellbinding murder mystery but fortunately, no one was killed! However there were threatening times for Jade, someone was out to harm her. Matthew, a deputy on the local police force, helps her through several episodes. Good story!
I love how the women in this story dig deep and find their own strengths. Each one of them has decided t hat enough is enough and finally, no more being a doormat, time to equal things up! I'm looking forward to book four.
Although this story was about Jade and Matthew 's relationship, there was the story of political sabotage. A near death, threats, undercover sleuthing, made a funny story!
Great plot, interesting characters but, terrible grammar and/or editing! ‘Anyways’ was used at least 6 times...it’s not a word! It’s anyway. You can’t pluralize an adverb!
The friends, family connections are strong between Jade,Morgan,Tiffany, Luke and Matthew. They share a common bond and continue to build great relationships. The thrill of the mystery of who is behind all the threats to Jade leaves you wanting to read more. Ready for the next book.
I listened to this book on audiobook. I really enjoyed it. It was light enough to listen to while I was working and follow the story. This is the third installment of the series (I missed number 2).
