Artifacts are stolen at several places in the US and UK, while a plane goes missing in Malaysia. Mysterious disappearance of several people, a western microbiologist, an Indian astrologer and an archeology worker at a Sangam Era excavation site puzzle the police. And the only connection to all this is the symbol of 'Garuda' which keeps surfacing again and again. Ashwin, a young marine archeologist and his friend Swathi, a medical intern are on the run to decipher the clues and save a 'Heist'. Will the fugitives succeed in their dangerous mission? What exactly are they upto? In this fast paced thriller mixed with the mythological 'Garuda Chronicles', time is limited for the young duo to crack the clues and prevent a Heist. Do they have the blessings of Lord Vishnu and Garuda? The story has much more to offer than you can imagine in your wild dreams.
The sequel to the 2015 Lord Shiva themed thriller (DELUGE: AGASTHYA SECRETS), HEIST: GARUDA CHRONICLES stars Garuda, the vehicle of Lord Vishnu, the Lord who is the spine of this book while his colossal eagle glides gracefully around every nook and crank of this rich plot.
We have the protagonists from DELUGE, Ashwin and Swathi, returning to deal with the next challenge in their lives, staged by the gorgeous Blue Divinity basking in the Milky Way. Is Lord Vishnu on their side or on those maniacs' who are trying to unleash one of the biggest secrets of Indian mythology? As strange, cryptic and unexplained events pull Ashwin and Swathi away from each other, Ashwin comes across a diary that holds the secret that's pulling them around the south of India. A diary whose content dates back millions of years ago, to people who lived in the land of the Gods, who don't have to be from the same century to guide people of the twenty first century. My favourite parts of Heist were the fascinating Garuda Chronicles and I'm hungry to know more about this majestic eagle, while hitting myself on the head for never researching on the vehicle of the Lord I love so much before. Right after this review, I'm stalking Garuda on Google.
The author has displayed a tremendous amount of research into this web that had me vigorously untangling it for the last three days, trying to find out the secret it was hiding from me on the other side of the loosened strands while examining each individual one, impressed by how rich Indian history is and how much we're yet to know about. Mystery after mystery lurking in unexpected corners of the country we're living in, flashing a smug smile of everything it knows and we don't. Maybe we're walking right on top of a world yet to be discovered right in the underground.
This was a really good display of the author's talent to give us a thriller, including DELUGE, I'd like to see on screen. It's books and stories like these that make me wish I had reasons to be enthusiastic about going for the movies, movies that can replace the mindless, brain numbing fest of the type I've seen the last time I went to the movie theatre.
Though I'm interested to know more about Garuda, I have to be really honest in saying out of the two Ashwin and Swathi starrers, I loved DELUGE the best.
There were, however, some errors in the book I couldn't ignore - grammatical mistakes in frequent places and punctuation. I hope the next book can be devoid of them.
'HEIST' heists our heart and soul! This thriller novel intermingled with rich Indian mythology also touches upon the current day happenings. The author using a lucid style builds up an interesting web between Garuda purana and the treasure held at a richest temple in India.
The thrilling twists and turns that happens in between and the surprise at the end makes one jaw drop. Lot of efforts and research has been painstakingly put in by the author. Of course the added spice of providing probable solutions to most of the mysteries that remain unanswered even today shows the creative approach of the author.
The previous book of the author 'DELUGE' was an interesting read and the current book 'HEIST' has proven once again that the author has established a proven style and trend of his own. The illustrations, pictures and explanations add to the clarity and creates interest to explore more on Indian Mythology - majority of which remains still unexplored. The book should appeal to the young and old, mythology to modern thriller fans, scientists to historians all alike and I strongly recommend not to miss reading it.
