Rate this book
In October of 1989, in a small Indiana town, an entire religious cult was brutally murdered by their leader.

Upon questioning, he simply said, "They have gone home. HE has taken them!"

Almost thirty years later, a group of aspiring filmmakers decide to spend one night at the former compound of the cult.

They were never seen again.

This is their story.

Once I started this book, I could not put it down. This story was engaging from start to finish. I loved the progression I saw from the narrator. How everything was documented. It seemed so vivid. Also the plot twists where I couldn’t help but scream.. WHAT??? I loved that! Definitely give this book a read for an intellectual thrill. And it’s just in time for spooky season.

If you’re a fan of found footage style horror and thriller movies, you will fall all over your self for Nathaniel Hurst’s *The Taking*. It was absolutely wonderful, set up with a fantastic premise and an eerie atmospheric setting, creepy cultish religious undertones and a demonic presence and a mystery that ties it all together—one that will have your jaw on the floor by the end of the novel.

I loved it!

I enjoy found footage horror movies so I was intrigued by the synopsis of this book. I was honestly surprised by just how good it was and how hooked I got. I do wish it was longer because I was really into it and wasn’t ready for the story to be over so quick.

Kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time and the plot twist had my mind blown. It makes you realize some things may not be as they seem.

Deliciously Creepy

Nicely addictive, it took some effort to savor in small bites. Quite original and unpredictable. I’m looking forward to Mr. Hurst’s next offering. Indeed.
