Got this book for review on Netgally.

It was a great collection of stories and I enjoyed them all in one way or another. My favorite ones where the one aboy the cam girl and the other with santa. Very weird, disgusting but fun read and each story was diffrent and I didn't alphabet any I didn't like.

What a weird and wild ride! Full of debauchery, gore and…Santa? I really enjoyed this read, it’s erotic splatterpunk bizzaro, with a heavy emphasis on sex and death. The highlight stories from this collection are Santa’s Package, Horrorgasm and #deadsealchallenge, but all of the works had something nauseating and exhilarating to offer.

The collection has 6 shorter stories and 2 longer, it was broken up nicely so it would make for a quick one sitting read or split into before bed stories for the week… if you dare to have some pretty messed up dreams.

I know of S.C. Mendes, his novel The City being one of my favourite books ever, and I’m so happy to be introduced to the works of Nikki Noir, the two have blended disgustingly for this piece of work- which is perfect.

Thank you to Blood Bound Books and S.C. Mendes for the ARC of this awesome bloodbath, I am excited to read more from both authors!

If you are a fan of splatterpunk erotica and bizzaro reads, be sure not to miss this one!

This collection was a little underwhelming, I’m sorry to say. While it is technically billed as “new adult horror,” it is promoted like splatterpunk erotica, and I thought that was a fun, deviant, disruptive genre mash-up that would be great for short stories and novellas. Splatterpunk is known to be gory, graphic, over-the-top, inappropriate, and beyond any sense of decency or good taste, and any erotica that comes in contact with that would share those sensibilities. That’s not a genre or style that appeals for everyone, certainly, but that’s what is being sold on the outside of the tin… and it isn’t what I found inside, of the eight stories (five shorts and three novellas), only one felt like it lived in the same area code as that description. Two others were maybe in nearby districts. But the rest, while there were some devious and dark ideas, and occasional, very brief, instances of graphic sexuality, nothing that came close to the shock and awe promised. If the stories were really compelling and interesting I wouldn’t be as let down by the lack of extremity, but in the end I didn’t feel particularly moved or excited by them. None were bad, some flirted with interesting ideas, and across the eight a few different genre ideas are played with. They don’t all feel the same, and any given story was able to hold my attention, but they just didn’t do much for me. The collection is short and you can read it in a sitting, and so maybe if you’re interested in dipping your toes in splatterpunk-adjacent stories you will find something to enjoy here.

(Rounded up from 2.5)

I want to thank the authors, the publisher Blood Bound Books, and NetGalley, who provided a complimentary eARC for review. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This was a truly enjoyable, disturbing, unsettling and quite deranged read! Each of the eight stories has something unique: from (playground) balls to cucumbers, from sex toys to murder weapons and instruments of torture, there is something to please every extreme horror fan, but also enough diversity for those with a sweet tooth for painful relationships, complicated backstories and (mostly) unhappy endings! #DeadSealChallenge (a bizarre muckbang challenge with unexpected consequences) and HorrorGasm (on a horror-themed OnlyFans account) were my particular favorites, though some of the others were equally original, imaginative and socially trendy: there's an abundance of black humor, strong language and violence, and very little respect for the dead. Even Santa gets implicated in scenes of debauchery. Or is he? In any case, this is a must read!

Petite Mort is a delightfully gruesome and sexually charged compilation of short stories and novellas, and I honestly enjoyed something about every one of them. I've never really read erotic splatterpunk before, in fact I honestly didn't know it existed, but it was an absolute blast to read. My favorites were HorrorGasm and #DeadSealChallenge, but the whole book was just great.

A horror filled, erotic escape for you, from the minds of Nikki Noir and S. C. Mendes. Eight short stories that will certainly have you cringing and gasping. Each story is filled with bizarre and gore scenes. Beware the heavy erotic theme in this one! You can thank these two authors for the awkward tingling in your nether regions! Hehe

Grab this one, it releases today (October 31, 2022)!!

This one is great fun! It’s a perfect mix of erotic horror with a bit of bizzaro thrown in! I had read a couple of these stories before and really enjoyed them, these were available individually so I picked up a few but now they are all in one book. If you like dark humour and don’t take things too seriously I strongly recommend you pick up this book. Packed full of horror, sex, bizzaro, splatterpunk and a whole load of fun!

I really enjoyed this collection by Nikki Noir & S.C Mendez. I enjoyed their short stories in Welcome to Splatterpunk Club Vol 2 as well. I definitely have my eyes on them and want to read more.

These short stories were disgusting, shocking & horrifying. Just how I prefer my horror. ‘Santa’s Package’ & ‘#DeadSealChallenge’ being my favourite in the bunch. If you’re looking for a short story collection that’ll grip you from the first page, this is the one for you.

This is a goopy, perverse, and dreadful collection of short stories that are also well written with interesting characters and narratives.

The thing I like about body horror and splattery style horror fiction is when those elements make sense within the world of the story. That's where this collection stands out as the sexually charged gore is there to enhance the weirdness. And it's fantastic!

The stories are a testament to the creativity and boundless imagination of the authors. A Santa Claus fetish, a horror themed cam girl, a water based urban legend coming to life, and a new drug that has some very perverse consequences are all told with a no holds barred approach.

Weird gory horror with no limits is on full display and I highly recommend this anthology.

Fantastically unique! Each story had some fun twist that made this book refreshing to read!

Granted I was not aware this was “adult” horror 😅 but the stories focus less on the adult nature and heavily on the horror portion and it’s exhilarating. I wasn’t bored with any story!

This anthology was wildly entertaining! I liked every story inside and they kept getting better and better throughout. "Cucumbers & Comforters" now lives rent free in my mind and I'm not mad about it.

Really well written and great execution for this collection of erotic horror stories!

This book contains a unique collection of carnal and carnivorous delights. These stories do not flinch from the darkness and the depraved, so be warned!

Favourite Line(s): “Yeah. Gary would be okay. He would even become famous. They could call him the ‘Dead Seal King.’”

My Favourite Story was Santa’s Package- What the heck! Now I’m going to be thinking about alien Santa this holiday season! This could be expanded into a series with Shelley and her prof! It was so weird and so good!

The whole book was absolutely one of my favourite reads of the year! I’d love to see a second, third, fourth (give me all the petite mort stories!!!) collection!

Thank you to the authors for a copy to read and review ♥️

Each story is more disgusting than the last. I’ve never read erotic horror before and I didn’t know, going into Petite Mort, that this was what it is! The horror is 5 stars but deducted a star because it goes far too heavy on the sex for my taste. Only one other horror has made me feel sick before (Uzumaki by Junji Ito) so I guess that’s a win!? Fave’s include Comforters and Cucumbers, #deadsealchallenge, Magic Brew (made me laugh) and Grinder. Not for the faint hearted or easily offended but definitely some fun stories here!

What. A. Doozy! Nikki Noir and SC Mendes are brilliant minds! I’ve never read anything quite like these stories here in this little book. Petite mort is filled with 8 incredible short stories and novellas. They are gruesome, out of this world, and disgusting in all the right ways. I even found myself snickering at times. If you want quick reads and amazing story telling, pick this one up and take it for a spin!

Got this on Netgalley. Thought it was one thing, but boy was I wrong. The writing was good, this book just wasn't my thing. There were some very creative stories, that I'll give them credit for. If you want some super weird, very erotic at times short story collection, then go for it.

I decided to read this book from NetGalley and i don't regret reading it. This book has the perfect combination of splatterpunk and horror eroticism. From a Santa alien breeding women, all the way to a social media challenge going completely off the rails, there's a story for anyone who's into extreme horror. It's a fun ride reading through each story.

This was my first time diving into the literary world of the Splatterpunk genre - and horror erotica. But surprisingly, I loved this anthology! I guess I’m into the Splatterpunk genre… who would have thought.

If you’re into weird “extreme” horror shorts mixed with erotica, then this one’s for you my friend.

Petite Mort by S.C. Mendes and Nikki Noir

Blood Bound Books, Oct. 2022 (Halloween release date)

ASIN: BOBB87TLWY

Available: Kindle edition

Petite Mort is a short story collection that reads like a crossbreed of the Hostel movies and a Jenna Jameson film fest, but with more originality and better storytelling. This will appeal to readers who like healthy doses of gore and raunchiness. If you can handle that, the stories are worth a read.

There are eight stories, six short and two longer ones. A few have been previously published in other collections. The main selling point: none of the stories have the tired and overused “male psycho kidnaps, rapes, and tortures helpless woman” plot. There are elements of the supernatural to the majority of the stories, and some of them are WAY off the path of normalcy. “Santa’s Package”, the longest (and maybe best) story, has a young woman pregnant by either a) Santa Claus, b) alien abduction, or c) she’s just totally nuts. ‘”Into the Pit” has a demon residing in one of those plastic ball pits kids play in at places like Chuck E. Cheese eateries. “Cucumbers and Comforters” has a kappa, a somewhat reptilian water deity from Japanese folklore. Kudos to author Nikki Noir for working the kappa into a story. It’s fun when authors use lesser-known deities from mythologies other than the familiar Greeks as a story backbone.

The rest of the stories are a touch more “normal”, that being a relative term here, but they all are page turners and pack good doses of creativity, along with heavy doses of splat and lewdness. Certain tumescent organs being chopped off, horror movie themed sex toys, people being literally torn apart through every possible orifice, it’s all here… for a certain reader type.

Two other things worthy of special mention: the story “HorrorGasm”, which does a slick job of creating a wild revenge tale, while managing to poke fun at the dorks who sit around watching online porn all day. For hilarity, “Santa’s Package” wins, running away with the writing of Santa’s bedroom scene. He’s quite the ‘jolly old elf’! The author’s turning of Christmas clichés into witty double entendres is side-splittingly funny: you’ll laugh hard enough to turn your own belly into a bowl full of jelly.

Bottom line: this one is good entertainment for certain readers, just don’t take any of it too seriously. It’s all meant to be fun, over-the-top craziness, and it succeeds well on that score. However, this is for adults only: don’t let your junior high students near this one. Recommended for lovers of splat and sleaze.

These stories were weird, gory, disgusting, and disturbing. I saw someone raving about this online and curiosity got the better of me. Now here we are. Some of these stories are ones that will stick with you, they're so bizzare. The Santa's Package story elicited laughter and horror. I told someone about that story and the look on their face was priceless.

Needless to say, this collection won't be for everyone. If you aren't into splatterpunk or you don't like your horror infused with erotic themes and dark humor, then this collection won't be for you. That's ok.

For those that enjoy their horror a bit over the top, then dive in for stories about:
A drug deal gone wrong, Santa's gift, a horror themed cam girl show, a possible zombie outbreak, a love potion gone wrong, kappas, and more.

My favorite stories were #deadsealchallenge, Magick Brew, and Cucumbers and Comforters.

This collection may be ideal for someone dipping their toes into the splatterpunk genre. It's not the most disturbing thing out there and there's humor woven into the stories too. Better yet, recommend this to someone and then get their reaction. It's bound to be interesting.

Thank you to Net Galley for the reader copy of this collection of shorts and novellas.
This collection is splatterpunk erotica and it was pretty intense, horrific, gross and terrifying - I mean it was still a book, rather than a real world experience, thankfully. There’s a cam girl who only does horror themes, a terrifying ball pit at a fast food restaurant, diseased appendages, and mythical creatur3s that munch on cucumbers, and errr people of course…
I was very curious when this book came across the notifications, and now I can say with certainty that this is not the type or reading for me.
That said, this is a really well done collection. The writing is good. Really good. The editing was top notch, and the stories are entirely creative, fresh and new.
So 4 stars from me, I just couldn’t quite bring it to five since the entire collection sort of gave me nausea, but for those who like this genre, it will be nausea in a good way. Happy Reading!

In addition to being over the top splatter horror smut, these eight stories are creative, engaging, and all very different from one another.
Some of the highlights for me were how Santa’s Package kept me guessing the whole time and also strangely made me feel a little more at ease with starting therapy soon.
The opening story, Grinder felt like it would make the perfect Cronenberg flick (David or Brandon, you pick).
#DeadSealChallenge was such a fun, modern twist on a classic horror sub genre. As with most of these stories, I will be thinking about that one for a long time.
And maybe it’s because I closed out 2023 reading a lot of RL Stine but Cucumbers and Comforters, the tale that closes the book, felt like a fever dream Fear Street novel. I’m a massive fan of Yokai and the story’s twists and turns were so fun.

Would definitely recommend checking this out.

This was my first ever Splatterpunk genre read, and boy was I wholly unprepared. I'll preface this by saying I requested this read because the title and cover art intrigued me. I skimmed through the description and decided to dive in, head first. I wish I maybe did some research into the genre first, to help prepare me for the incredibly uncomfortable, wildly graphic (but not fun graphic) stories and the general sense of unease I felt while reading this - which is the whole point of Splatterpunk (which I know now). If you're into Splatterpunk, this would probably be a fun read for you - but I don't think I'll partake in this genre again. Out of all the stories in this compilation, I liked #Horrorgasm the most. The stories are well written andcould be your cup of tea if you're into these types of novels - it was just not for me.
