Kyra Campbell is known for being an obsessive prosecutor. There’s a reason for that. In her college days, a star football player raped her—an incident that was never adjudicated given the player’s popularity. Eight years later, she’s prosecuting federal cases, her life centered on making evildoers pay. Then her attacker resurfaces.

Brad Parker was arrested for killing his girlfriend. The police caught him with the murder weapon and his dead girlfriend nearby, but he swears his innocence. He also says he can prove this. The police brush this off given their evidence. He then realizes who can save him—the person from his past who became a legal practitioner.

Kyra meets with Brad, but only to wish him a horrific stay in prison. Then after checking the police files, she finds several inconsistencies. She doesn’t want to assist Brad, but her dedication to justice can’t let this go. She needs to know if Brad’s claims of innocence have merit. She shifts into action, unaware that her decision will forever upend her life.

A solid 4-star book. This would make a good read on the beach or on the airplane book. It's an easy, fairly quick read, but with enough detective work happening to keep you intrigued.
