Kelsey Baker had been doing just fine without Travis McKeen in her life for the last seven years. High school sweethearts riding off into the sunset was just a fairytale she dreamt about back then. Now, the reality of her life reminded her that no matter how much you plan for things, they can change in an instant. With her brother, Logan, and the entire town behind her she made the most of the cards she was dealt. Her fashion boutique was thriving now and she had a life she could be proud of.
Travis McKeen loved Kelsey, which was precisely why when he left town he couldn't look back. Not if he wanted to make it as a dirt bike rider. He avoided coming home unless he absolutely had to. No one knows why he left so abruptly or why he never came back home. When his mother asks him to come to see his sick grandmother he couldn't say no, but it puts his plans to stay out of Kelsey's life into a tailspin as all of his past choices start to catch up to him.
This series just gets better with each book. I absolutely adored this one. It is a tad different than the others in the series as far as story development goes and I mean that in a good way. Kelsey and Travis were very thoroughly developed as individuals before we really get a look at who they were together as teenagers. I will say that it took a bit for me to warm up to Travis because of the part of the story we are given first and then gradually more and more truth started coming out which is how Travis won me over.
This is one slow burn of a story!!! Anyone who is a fan of them definitely needs to pick this book up. The way that Travis and Kelsey dance around each other and their feelings when they finally come face to face after seven years....whew!!!! The pull they have towards each other is like that of soulmates.
I am so thankful for finding Ms. Bellarose on TikTok because it led me to this series that I have gotten hooked on and her new series. I cannot wait for more from Summit Creek and from any other world she wants to bring her readers.
Hayden has a wonderful way with pulling you into fantasy life that is so real you can put yourself there very easily. I have read numerous books with what I call the “yea right” scenes. There are none here. We have all been hurt by the ones we love at least one time or another. Both Kelsey and Travis have had to endure 7 years of hurt. At times I did not think this second chance story would end well but…. Sorry not giving it away. I like being kept on the edge of my seat when reading and Hayden did not disappoint. Cora is quite a character and added a nice side story. This was a feel good read and I enjoyed it so very much.
After being apart for 7 years, Kelsey and Travis reunite. But both of them are hiding secrets from each other.
Once again, we are in Summit Creek. Kelsey is a strong, single mom that proves you can do anything with a little hard work. I absolutely loved Cora. She is such a sassy little girl. But adorable at the same time. Honestly, I did not like Travis at all in the beginning but throughout the story that changed. Honestly, the Dan thing was confusing to me, and I am not his biggest fan. I loved that we got to see a couple of the characters from the other books.
Hayden's writing is perfection and I cannot see what comes next!
Hayden has done it again, I love her writing style and the story line is sad and cute at the same time. Kelsey has a secret that she never told her first love Travis about. When he finds out the truth is it enough to make him stay.. Great book
It is no secret I love second chance romances, but the whole secret baby thing is hit or miss for me. This one I didn’t mind it because of how Hayden Bellarose worked it into the story. The back and forth between Travis and Kelsey kept me hooked until he last page. Can’t wait to see what is next in Summit Creek.
