Rate this book
Four months ago, Adam Granger convinced me I needed to leave the country. Now my life is crumbling to pieces around me and I've been fired from my job. With nowhere else to go, I head home, hoping to hide away until the storm of public disapproval blows over. Instead of finding refuge, however, I discover Adam is my new neighbour. Worse still, the hot-shot radio personality wants to interview me. But how can I trust the man who called me painfully unattractive beneath my glossy surface? Does he really intend to help the public understand my side of things, or will he shatter my trust and leave my career and heart in pieces?

Elle Fielding

Elle Fielding is a true-blue Aussie who's as passionate about romance as Melbourne is about its four-seasons-in-one-day weather. Her love affair with romance novels started in her teens, fuelled by a steady diet of Dolly Fiction, Love Stories, Loveswept, and those irresistible Harlequin Mills & Boon tales. With a diary full of her own unrequited crushes, Elle figured it was high time to start creating some love stories of her own.

Elle's first crack at writing romance was, let’s just say, a learning curve. But she’s been honing her skills, swapping out personal misadventures for the sweeping world of fiction. She’s now living the dream, writing her own romance novels and loving every minute of it.

When she’s not busy writing or getting lost in a good book (or audiobook), Elle's living her own fairy tale on the Mornington Peninsula with her very own Mr. Perfect. For Elle, life's all about capturing those happily-ever-afters, both in her stories and beyond the pages.

I received an ARC of this book and I can in all honesty say it did not disappoint.
The story flows so seamlessly. All the characters are well written and are so relatable. Jess and Adam are as flawed as the next person and to experience their journey of growth, self realization and love was an absolute joy for a reader like myself. It’s a romance novel and yet it’s not over the top unrealistic. I love Elles writing style and attention to detail. She’s one of my favourite authors, she has a gift with words.

Adam and Jess's story is the perfect ( oh so steamy) enemies to lovers / close proximity weekend read.

She is a well-known international model often labeled as aloof and shallow, while he is a radio presenter with a chip on his shoulder. Their dislike for each other is instant, but for the sake of the respective best friends they call a truce...and when Jess's life is tainted with a saucy scandal, it's Adam that helps her get through it.

I loved the Aussie setting and can't wait to read more from this author. Fun from start to finish!

Trusting the Enemy Next Door is an amazing story!

The storyline of Jess and Adam holds so much emotions and is so deep and heartfelt, I couldn’t stop reading. It took some time for me to connect with Jess at the beginning but as soon as I got to know her, I really understood her and fell in love with her. Jess is such a heartfelt character; her inside is just as beautiful as her outside. And Adam, god I really loved him. He’s funny, sexy, sweet and even though he has his faults it was impossible not to fall in love with him. And together, Jess and Adam were just so beautiful. The tension between them is over the top. From hate to friendship and then so much more. The whole story is beautiful and heartbreaking.

Trusting the Enemy Next Door is so heartfelt, it’s meaningful and passionate, and incredibly well written. Elle Fielding outdid herself with this beautiful and heartbreaking story.

Loved it!!

Trusting The Enemy Next Door is, by far, the best book I have read by Elle Fielding. The characters depicted in these pages are authentic and perfectly flawed as they deal with the fall out over scandal. Elle Fielding artlessly knits the complexities of relationships between female friends and would-be lovers into a masterpiece you will want to read over and over. Beware! This story is so compelling I had many late, late nights because I was so hooked on "what happens next?"
If you like a steamy, dramatic story with life like characters, then Trusting the Enemy Next Door should be top of your want-go-read list.

Received an ARC of this book and was so excited to read it! Glad to say it did not disappoint. The romance and buildup was perfectly there and I love a good slow burn, so this was everything.

Was really cute and fun to read, would totally recommend to anyone who liked Hating Game, Tessa Bailey or Christina Lauren.

4/5 stars only because I wish we’d gotten more at the end (like Jess’s career) but other than that, loved it!

Trusting the Enemy Next Door was a spectacular enemies-to-lovers romance novel! The prologue itself had me so intrigued and I quickly become emotionally invested in Jess. She is one hell of a character that drew me in like a moth to a flame.

From the moment Adam confronted Jess, never had I ever felt such intense and hateful chemistry oozing between the leads that you could feel the tension in the air. It was simply electric.

And I did not like Adam one bit in the beginning. He projected his prejudice onto Jess and couldn't see past it. He misjudged Jess as ugly and manipulative and undoubtedly had hurt her with his words. It was heartbreaking seeing Jess teetering on the verge of depression as her life kept getting shattered piece by piece. All I wanted to do was reach out and hug her.

But one of the many perks and charms to this story is seeing Adam get proven wrong from time and time again that his impression of Jess was not at all whom he thought. In an ironic way, it was their dislike of each other that made them grew close— that they couldn't lie to each other because they would see through it. That they can just be their true self when they together. And I've got to hand it to the author for making me fall in love with Adam slowly but surely. Because Adam started growing on me and I absolutely loved how Adam became the solid ground in Jess’ shaky life.

And my god, the chemistry, the connection and the sexual tension kept the heat between them them sparking. Their attraction was fueled not just by lust but also by such profound soul-baring bond they've build with one another.

I was on pins and needles as the story progressed with my box of tissues ready to use because I knew I was in for the roller coaster ride. And it was one hell of an unforgettable ride with all the unexpected twists, new information surfacing, new friends being made, and realization coming about.

It was hate at first sight...

In Adam Granger’s eyes, Jessica Skyler is a vapid and selfish model threatening his friends’ relationship. It is hate at first sight. Jessica, on the other hand, cannot understand why her best friend’s neighbor is so hostile towards her. When a scandal threatens to ruin Jessica’s life, she turns to Adam. Surely, if she can convince him that she is innocent, she will be able to make the rest of Australia believe her.

Trusting the Enemy Next Door is not an easy read. The characters are so realistic that you can feel what they’re feeling. In Jessica’s case, those feelings are not easy to deal with when you have a history of depression. The first time I read this story, many years ago, I struggled. Not because it wasn’t good, but because it was too real for me at that time in my life. Reading it today, despite being on antidepressants, it is still an emotional read.
I'll be lonely, but not having anyone to lose is less painful than caring about someone so much that it shatters you when they're not there anymore.

Elle Fielding writes emotions masterfully, from deep despair to unbridled passion. That skill makes Trusting the Enemy Next Door both heart wrenching and oh-so steamy. A truly great read.

Absolutely loved this book!! Jess and Adam are solid characters who each have their own depth and story that makes them who they are. As you read, you grow with them and it’s such a fun journey to watch as they come together. They are HOT and this book is SEXY. Enough said.

Ok. I’m not the best at writing reviews. I actually haven’t done it much, but now is as a good a time as any to start.

This is a romance book. A good one. One that doesn’t annoy the hell out of me like others. Why? Because there are growth arcs for the main characters, Jess and Adam. (Even for one of the side characters.) Their relationship isn’t perfect, but which one is? The thing I loved the most about this book is the realistic portrayal of fights and inner conflicts that people have. But even more than that, was the consistent communication. I LOVED that. The main characters were mature and it showed.

The last part I want to mention, which is perhaps the most important part: Jess. I freaking loved Jess. In my eyes she is the perfect main female character. Out of every one she was the most mature and grounded person. Remember that maturity doesn’t mean that you have figured everything out, that you always have it together or that you are set for life. It means you are at least somewhat willing to face hardships and that you become a better person because of that. This is exactly what Tess did. She struggled emotionally and mentally due to a conflict, but after that she dealt with it by accepting help from someone and took full responsibility for her actions. I can’t wish for more, and I don’t really have any complaints about her. She’s the best. I have to applaud the amazing author for portraying the female lead in such a healthy way in a romance book. We need more of that from authors.

I received this book as an ARC reader. I absolutely loved the book!
It is a romance book through and through, which is exactly what I love. But, what made this book that much more engaging to read was that I was invested in the story of the characters and the individual growth arcs that made the romance so much more... interesting to read!

I love Elle as an author, she has a way of writing a perfect blend of lightweight, yet nuanced storylines that make me not want to put the book down! I look forward to reading more from Elle!
