Billy King may be smiling under his black Stetson, but the plain truth is this cowboy-turned-racer is for his horse back in Memphis, for his girl with one boot out the door, and for his faltering career thanks to an injury that's not getting any better. The moment he's free from the press circuit, Billy bolts home?resolved to heal and ready to win Taryn's heart a second time.Taryn Ledell never wanted to fall for sweet blue eyes and a deep southern drawl. As a World Superbike racer, she had plans, and none of them involved playing second fiddle to any man. But now he's back, and she's forced to make some hard choices. With her sponsors eager for a decision, Taryn finds herself tangled in all the lines they've drawn in the sand. But broken bones and broken hearts don't heal overnight, and the cost of forgiveness may be sky high―unless Billy can prove that his heart never left the ranch...or her.
Katie Golding is a racing fan with a writing problem. The recovering cheerleader lives in a small town outside of Austin, Texas, mom to a future philanthropist, and wife to a superman. Billy King may be smiling under his black Stetson as he waves for the MotoGP press corps, but the plain truth is the motorcycle racer is hurting: for his horse back in Memphis, for his girl with one boot out the door, and thanks to an injury that's not getting any better. Taryn had told Billy no more bull riding or she is out. She watched her best friend bury her fiance on what was supposed to be their wedding day because he was killed from bull riding. Taryn is also a motocross driver and competes. Ok I really liked these characters but the thing that I didn[t get is how much Taryn is against bull riding but ok for moto cross competing. To me that can be dangerous as well and 1 wrong move and you can be killed. That was the main thing that bugged me. The other is no matter what Billy did, his father would find fault with. Billy's younger brother also drove in the same races and never win but his father never said a word to him. But after Billy's wins his father would say he should have done some of the moves his brother did. I think I would have blown up at him. I received this from NetGalley and Casablanca for review.
Well, FEARLESS is just not working for me. I'm not interested in the characters and the description led me to believe this was about exes who have been apart for awhile and are having a second chance. But it turns out it's an existing and long established relationship that's now in trouble and I personally just don't like that dynamic. That's completely a me thing so take that with a grain of salt.
But what I really didn't like and was the last straw for me is how hypocritical I felt the heroine was being. Both Taryn and Billy are motorcycle racers but Billy also does bull riding and Taryn is scared that Billy is going to be hurt or killed like her friend's fiancé was. She gives Billy an ultimatum that he has to stop bull riding or she's leaving him. While I understand why Taryn is scared, I find it ridiculous that she thinks Billy (or even herself) won't get hurt by motorcycle racing. They're both dangerous sports to compete in. Additionally, I don't like relationships that are based on an ultimatum, that's just personal preference.

This author has a real talent for writing details that bring the story to life. In just a few pages, I was transported to Taryn and Billy’s life, be it on the ranch or in the paddock. And I loved every minute of it.
The writing choices were spot on. Here we have dual point of views–which is quite common. But Taryn’s chapters are written in past tense and tell the beginning of the story–when they met and how they fell in love–while Billy’s are in present tense, describing what happens after they break up. That means there are a lot of unknown events leading to the break up that we slowly learn through Taryn’s flashbacks, until we reach present days. Clever, and written flawlessly.
The characters, though, weren’t flawless. And that made them even more relatable. Billy tends to step aside–or make mistakes–for the sake of his brother. Taryn’s hangups, though understandable, induce angry outbursts and harsh decisions that she later regrets. But I also loved that Billy was far from cocky, even shy at times, while Taryn was a real badass. I felt strongly for them.
It was both a sports romance and a cowboy romance, as both Taryn and Billy live on ranches and practice rodeo but also are motorcycle racers. Calf roping and leaning in a curve were both described with much details. They were as much a part of the story as was the romance itself. Billy’s antics with Gidget, and Taryn’s nightmarish photoshoots offered a glimpse at their life. I assure you no element in the story is forgotten and they all make sense.
The romance wasn’t overly sexy, but they sure weren’t monks. The intimate scenes are written with taste, explicit but not too much. And they’re laced with so many emotions that you realize real fast that there’s more than lust in their relationship. A lot of their interactions are actually quite cute and with a subtle domesticity that I enjoyed a lot. I loved that couple.
They aren’t a lone in the story, but to be honest, the side characters didn’t have much impact besides helping or hindering Taryn and Billy’s romance. Except Massimo and Lorelai, who are the heroes of the second book of the series. They weren’t uninteresting nonetheless. They all had their voice and their personality.
Beautifully written, with a simple but interesting love story and loveable characters, it’s a great book in a great series.
Quickie
- Series: Moto Grand Prix #1 (can be read as a standalone) - Hashtags: #sports romance #cowboy romances #moto races #rodeo #second chance - Triggers: some injuries, mention of past death, sexual harassment - Main couple: Taryn Ledell & Billy King - Hotness: 3/5 - Romance: 5/5 - + real chunks of cowboy - – I thought Billy’s better understanding of what happened his whole life was a bit rushed and without any consequence on his life
Bohaterowie porażka, nie rozumiem ich relacji, a książka jest strasznie dziwnie napisana. Do tego połączenie kowbojskich klimatów z tematyką Moto GP i motocrossu totalnie mi nie siedzi. Główna bohaterka ma jakiś popieprzony problem bez sensownego wyjaśnienia, główny bohater to niby taki profesjonalny sportowiec, a ignoruje poważny uraz XD Totalne rozczarowanie 🤷🏼♀️
I got to read this book early because I am LUCKIER THAN YOU.
AND DAMN IF THIS BOOK WASN'T SO MUCH MORE THAN I EXPECTED.
You can see from my history that romance novels tend to be hit or miss with a batting average of about .095, so like, you know, it's hard to please me. I find a lot of novels tend to be heavy on misogynistic, weird alpha-male dynamics, or if they aren't, they just don't find the heat level needed in a romance, whether it's emotionally or sexually.
BUT THIS BOOK. HOLY SHIT.
Golding's character openings are absolutely stellar, from the very second we meet Taryn, the FMC, I was IN LOVE. The language was so intentional, and the images were so absolutely vivid that I was like crossing my legs and trying to convince myself that I'm really bi and not just SUPER GAY because Taryn is strong and intense and so fucking gorgeous. And then there's Billy, who is somehow all the great things about the masculine romance heroes, but minus the alpha male bullshit. He made me squeal so many times it's alarming.
There's one scene in this book where Billy has a chance to be the possessive jackass I've seen so many times, hell, it might've even been warranted, but the way he handles it is so refreshing and so FUNNY. The humor in this book was another thing I didn't expect. It was so GOOD!
Golding just manages to combine so many elements. It's always interesting going in when something is done differently, like the dual timelines, I wasn't sure how it was going to work, but it works so well. It's kinda like we get two novels in one, but in a way that weaves together brilliantly at the end to make one amazing novel. We get the fresh whirlwind of the initial romance (though I loved the spin on this too with how their jobs keep them apart, like it's amazing how the author ramps up the steam and anticipation without overusing sex scenes, likes its a masterclass in how you can do tension and longing in SO. MANY. WAYS.) and we get a breakup story about second changes and mistakes.
And seriously, when she brings the heat, she BRINGS IT. I loved how she wasn't afraid to slow down and emphasize the realness of sex, and somehow, that made it feel even sexier. God, I needed a BRISK SHOWER after her sex scenes. For real. I'm pretty sure one even taught me how to have sex better, BUT THAT'S A LOT OF INFO, ANYWAY MOVING ON...
Both of these characters are so positively flawed, which is crazy, because you meet them and fall in love immediately, and then their flaws shot up and you're like that meme of "you don't have all the facts, which are I love them." Like that's how I felt about Billy and Taryn because these idiots make some dumbass decisions. But they're so real, especially Taryn, I have honest to god never felt so represented by a girl character in my life. She's so deeply emotional and trying so hard to get what she wants and stick to her guns, and god, I could talk for hours about how much I understood Taryn. She was so complex, and emotional, but strong and she's exactly the kind of heroine I feel like so many romance novels are missing. Funny, how Golding managed to put a brilliantly fresh spin on the hero and heroine. And also the plot of a romance novel. You just find yourself so desperately rooting for these idiots to find their way back to each other, I literally gasped and laughed aloud, and yes, got teary eyed a couple times because while it's being supremely hot and tense--it also has these insights into human flaws that just, damn.
God, everything about this is so fresh, OH! I also especially loved the Moto elements. My adrenaline just RACED the few times she goes into details about it, like I don't know if the author's ever actually raced? But now I feel like I HAVE RACED. I WOULD RACE RIGHT NOW if I wouldn't 100% die.
Anyway, if you can't tell I REALLY LOVED THIS BOOK. AND ALSO SHE TEASES A SEQUEL AS THESE ROMANCE NOVELS ARE WONT TO DO AND SHE TEASED IT SO WELL THAT I'M GOING TO CHEW OFF MY OWN HAND WAITING ON IT.
This book is absolutely wonderful. It is romantic, captivating, and hooks you in until the last page. Katie's characters are real and my god, I felt everything they did with her writing. This story is delicious and sexy and charming. It is the PERFECT way to put a smile on your face and escape into Taryn and Billy's world.
I finished this several weeks ago and I still cannot get these characters out of my head. Billy... Sweet, sweet, sweet Billy. He was everything... and then some. The cowboy you all dream about. The kind, gentle soul with the heart of gold most of all. I could make an entire review just for him, but there's so much more to this story than that. He's just my cherry on top.
Told in a unique fashion, with alternating POV's, past and present, Billy and Taryn are two people you can't help but cheer on as they try to fix their relationship. I don't want to give too much away, plot wise, but I really appreciated the unique take on story telling in this book. It wasn't formulatic in the least, and kept me invested from beginning to end. Fleshed out characters with real world problems, complete with a racing back drop and a country flare. This love story was so enchanting and real that it hurt. The kind of hurt that makes you want to jump back in and read it all over the second you hit the last page, of course.
Definitely a top new favorite for me, and that is a label I don't use often.
I swooned over every page of this book, from Billy and Taryn's first flirtations, through their bickering and bantering, as they made mistakes and fell in love, to their beautiful HEA. The timeline swaps were perfectly executed, leaving me wanting more but excited to hop back and forth. There was something so real and heart-tugging about Billy and Taryn's relationship. And Billy's chivalrous cowboy ways? That man is serious book boyfriend material. I didn't want their story to end, and I can't wait to read more in this series.
I don't like Taryn's character. She is what I think of when I think of a mean girl. Telling Billy that they are broken up but yet giving him hope that she will forgive him and all will be fine again. He bends over backwards, begs and pleads with her to forgive him. Maybe if that had lasted for one or two chapters that would have been okay but it was pretty much the whole book.
FEARLESS is a second chance romance that follows Billy and Taryn. Billy is a MotoPro racer and is ready to return home after a win to see if he can win back the woman who just dumped him. Taryn is ready to be through with Billy and not eager to talk to him when he shows up. Told in past and present timelines between the start of their relationship and now, Taryn and Billy's story is one that tugs on the heartstrings as they try to make things work.
With combinations of the motorcycle racing and rodeo worlds, this ends up being a pretty unique story. The inclusion of both past and present makes for a highly readable second-chance romance with the original love story built in. Both of them and their horses earn a special place in the reader's heart as they follow along. There is definitely some angst as they worth through the hard times of their relationship- as well as remember the good.
Overall, this is a solid read for people who like second-chance romance as well as stories of dangerous careers and cowboys. Taryn and Billy are easy to cheer for in this engaging romance read.
Please note that I received an ARC through Sourcebooks Early Reads. All opinions are my own.
Fearless is so refreshingly heartfelt: a pitch-perfect example of a comfort read romance that also brings a fast pace with plenty of action and plot twists befitting the sports aspect of the theme. I loved the dual-POV approach and glimpses in to both Billy and Taryn's pasts through the change in timeline. Peeks in to their history worked especially well given their relationship, making for a grand, sweeping love story rich with depth.
All of these elements plus terrific, crisp writing added up to satisfying story development and well-rounded characters to cheer for. Taryn is cool, smart, and interesting and Billy is an absolute sweetheart dream and pretty much the gold standard of romance novel hero. I was hooked from the beginning, utterly lost in their world, and transported up until the swoonworthy end. A must read!
2.5 stars Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casa for the complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.
This book centers around Billy, a Moto Grand Prix racer and cowboy, and Taryn, a World Superbike racer. The story is told going back and forth between viewpoints as well as timelines. I thought the storyline around the two different racing circuits, and their connection to people who also participate in rodeos was really interesting. It isn't something I know a whole lot about.
What didn't work for me was the alternating timeline. For some reason it just didn't quite click for me. Also I didn't really care for Taryn. She seemed really self centered. And I really don't understand why Billy is so hung up on her.
Although this book is a miss for me, I think if you are someone who loves rodeo or motorbike racing, I'd definitely give it a shot.
I have never gravitated toward cowboy heroes; they’ve just never been my catnip, but Billy King might have changed that. FEARLESS is delightful. Katie Golding masterfully crafts a story full of heated moments and soft words. The chemistry between two main characters feels natural from their first meeting and the side characters pop off the page. Knowing nothing about motocross or rodeos, I found myself invested in the professional stakes for both characters and Golding’s pacing leads us into the world of their relationship from two equally engaging directions. Don’t mind me, I’ll be dreaming of a black Stetson until the next book comes out from this author!
This was a lovely romance set in an alternating time frame so we get to experience the first romance and a second chance romance all in one while learning little by little where things went wrong before. This is the kind of world you settle into for all the character and setting. Although this book stretches all over the globe via the moto pro circuit, there's such a sense of home in these pages, both in the lush countryside and in the way these characters fall into one another. This is the kind of book you want to read on a rainy Sunday when there's nowhere to be and you can just relax into a good story with people you feel like you know.
Fearless is the kind of book that you wish was real so you could drop in and visit whenever you're in need of a little excitement. Golding crafts the kind of female characters that you'd want to hang out and grab a drink with. Her main character, Billy, is this perfect blend of Luke Perry ala 8 Seconds and Top Gun's Maverick. She seamlessly blends the worlds of rodeo and MotoGP in a way that feels both familiar and new. Add this book to your shelf this summer. Read it again in the winter. I assure you the heat from Billy and Taryn will keep you nice and hot!
Got to read an early version of this and OH MY GOD! Billy is irresistible, so sweet and funny and makes you smile all goofy. Taryn is badass and confident and rides a horse every bit as well as a motorcycle.
I’ve never read a romance like this before and it’s going to be an instant favorite when it comes out!
Katie Golding takes readers on the ride of their lives in her newest novel, FEARLESS. Golding's easy way with words and use of western lingo to tell her story draws readers in as they follow Billy King and Taryn Ledell on their journey back to each other. Golding’s knowledge of motorcycle racing seems endless as she uses alternating POVs and past/present narratives, to tell her story. If you've dreamed about cowboys who race motorcycles, FEARLESS is for you!
Both Billy and Taryn are wonderfully flawed, which makes it easy to connect with them. There were moments that I wanted to strangle both, but it was their love for each other and their love of racing that kept me coming back for more! Throw in a precocious horse named Gidget and FEARLESS is a book not to be missed.
Billy is a hero you can't help but love. Golding doesn't write Alpha males; instead, her heroes are realistic, adventurous, lovable, and they meet their heroines on equal footing. When we meet Billy, he's trying his best to be everything to everyone, especially his brother and Taryn. The number of times I wanted to hug him were endless. There were times I wished he would stand up more for himself, but overall, Billy is a perfect example of a guy who loves hard and puts others before himself.
Taryn is a badass. She's a woman on the male-dominated Moto racing circuit and absolutely gorgeous. She’s struggled with misogyny in the professional world and is determined to be famous for her riding skills rather than how she looks in a photograph. She’s also not interested in dating another racer—or even worse—a bull rider. Billy is both, but in a series of flashback chapters told in Taryn’s POV, we see how Billy wins her over.
I did struggle with Taryn at times. Both she and Billy come across as immature on occasion. While not categorized as such, FEARLESS read—at times—as New Adult Fiction. The flip side is that FEARLESS reminded me frequently of Urban Cowboy, one of the best films ever. Much like Bud and Sissy, Billy and Taryn fall in love quickly and then have to build their relationship from the dust of questionable choices and hurt feelings.
FEARLESS is book one in the Golding’s Moto Grand Prix series. We meet characters that we’re sure to see later in the series, including Lorelei and Massimo who most definitely take readers on a wild ride in book two.
Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks for an early copy in exchange for honest feedback.
FEARLESS was published in July 2020 by Sourcebooks.
OK one of my goals this year is to “count” romance books that feature hunky-donky, men on the cover towards my goal because these books are fun and I shouldn’t be ashamed or fear judgement about things that are harmless and bring me joy!
Anyways onto my thoughts…While I enjoyed this book, I had somewhat of a disconnect in the beginning mostly due to my lack of understanding of the cowboy setting and I was confused about them being professional motorcyclists/bull riders and cowboys. My mind couldn't comprehend them being two things, but it all worked out in the end. Despite this however, I found the premise and characters REFRESHING. Taryn is assertive and confident as fuck, but we also see her vulnerability. Taryn’s sense of agency is evident in her personal life, but not so much when it comes to the PR portion of her career. She has been stalked, harassed, and threatened. Furthermore, she is constantly sexualized by the industry and her sleazy ex-boyfriend. Eventually, she breaks away from the toxic and uncomfortable situation. I appreciate the author giving nuance to Taryn because it reminded me that there are things beyond our control that can keep us from standing up for ourselves.
On the other hand, Billy is shy, a bit insecure, and the sweetest gentleman ever. Romance is over saturated with alpha heroes which can become tiring and frustrating. I think what works so well in this book is that Billy is the opposite of this type of persona and Taryn can hold her own ground. Billy doesn’t need to fight Taryn’s battles, he just needs to be by her side. Their opposing personalities and break-up provided the most delicious tension. Coupled with their demanding career schedules, they were (literally) often further apart than together. God, their banter was just exquisite and hilarious—mostly due to Taryn's spunk. I wish their romance scenes were a bit steamier especially since Taryn was sexually frustrated half the time.
The side characters are great too, especially Taryn’s best friend/competitor, Sophie who is Black and lesbian. She also has the best humor of out of the whole cast. I hope we get a book featuring her as the main character in the future. Mason also intrigued me and I am curious as to who can tame his wild and hyper side.
This book is perfect for fans of second-chance romance and intense groveling. I don't think I have ever read a book in which the focus is on the couple working to rebuild the trust a better relationship. Such an underrated romance and I am so glad I came across this gem!
The ‘Moto Grand Prix‘ series gets off to a strong start with Billy and Taryn’s romance in ‘Fearless‘. Although this is a second chance romance in so many ways, through the use of flashback chapters and the present POV being Billy’s, and the past POV being Taryn’s until they meet up again we’ll get an overview of how they met and the challenges they’ve faced so far. And there are challenges from outsiders, from giving too much to others and not to the one you’re supposed to love, and from interference from situations beyond their control. Theirs is not the easiest of romances, and there are plenty of potholes on the road to their happy ever after – but it is so worth the trip.
I liked Billy, he’s not an alpha male but just an everyday guy who loves bull riding, motorcycle racing, and his girl. The trouble is that Billy cannot say no to someone who needs something from him – especially his brother (who I wanted to Gibbs smack often). He’s injured right now, needing to hide that fact from the press so he’s returning home to recoup and win his girl back before she leaves forever… none of that is going to be easy.
Taryn is a ‘take names and kick butt’ kind of woman, and I adored her attitude (for the most part). She has the right to be number one in her man’s life – but we all know that isn’t always possible and so often her reasons and her need to always be mad or arguing showed more immaturity than loving to me.
I enjoyed ‘Fearless‘. I do think that you have to be the type of reader who likes going back and forth from the past to the present with always just a few vital bits of information waiting to be discovered. I had a good time with this couple and in this world, and if you give it a chance I believe you will as well. This couple does belong together, it’s simply going to be a long road to travel to get to that point as they deal with their issues.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher, Sourcebooks Casablanca via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
While I was excited for a story set in the world of moto racing and enjoyed the overall writing, I had several issues that knocked it down a few stars.
This is NOT a second chance romance - this is a we have been "broken up" for 1 WEEK and the FMC can't decide whether to forgive him romance. From the very beginning the MMC didn't believe the "break up" was real and fought to win her over. I hated how all over the place the FMC was about their relationship. She swears she's done with him, but dances with him in a bar. She says she needs space but and then is helping train him everyday. She agrees to a first date, expects him to PROPOSE on said date, but then says she's not ready to jump back into a committed relationship. Make up your damn mind! Even I'm getting whiplash from how much she is jerking him around.
I also felt like the main characters were very immature. I had to keep reminding myself that they were in their late 20s since they both lived at home, had to sneak around and defer to their parents wishes like they were teenagers.
Lastly, and most importantly, the entire reason they "broke up" is fairly ridiculous. It really makes no sense that bull riding is a deal breaker because it is too dangerous. Yes, it is the most dangerous sport there is, but moto is incredibly risky and even deadly. She can't handle him riding a bull, but crashing a bike at 200 mph is ok? Especially when she rides herself? It doesn't really make any sense to me. I wish that the fight was more about how he keeps risking his future / career / dreams to protect his reckless and ungrateful brother. Maybe show him losing a football scholarship after covering her him or having to quit bull riding in the first place due to something Mason did. Then have Billy swear to Taryn that he is done saving his brother at the detriment to himself. Make that the promise he broke.
Bottom line - while I had some real problems with this book, I feel the author has good potential and will give this series one more book to win me over.

Fearless was everything I wanted it to be and more. Billy is a likable guy who doesn't always have his ducks in a row. His priorities aren't always aligned properly, causing heartache for himself and his girlfriend, Taryn. He means well and tries really hard but Billy makes some poor choices in Fearless. Taryn expects to be the #1 person in Billy's life. Most women do in relationships. However, Billy finds cleaning up after his brother to be one of those high priorities that gets him in trouble with Taryn.
This book is told from multiple points-of-view, alternating between Billy and Taryn. While the story begins in the present day, the book also shifts into the past when Billy and Taryn first meet, building up their relationship, and dealing with both their lives, as racers, lovers, and during the hard times. The present day and past passages alternate with the past eventually meeting the present.
I enjoyed the way the author presented the flashbacks. They are their own chapters instead of being tossed in the middle of the present, leaving the reader to try and figure out what is going on and when. The author did a wonderful job building up to the conflict that threatened to destroy the relationship between Billy and Taryn. The character development was astounding and the world-building has me feeling like I was there with them during the good times, the bad times, and everything in-between.
I was engaged from the start and the author's writing kept me engaged. Fearless is a sweet romance with wonderfully flawed characters, a slow trek to forgiveness, and love that will survive almost anything. This is my first experience with Katie Golding and look forward to reading more by her.
I really love when a romance introduces me to a whole new world, and Katie Golding's Fearless did just that. This is an engaging second-chance romance set in the Moto Grand Prix world of motorcycle racing, but some of the characters also ride bulls and participate in the rodeo, and there are lots of adorable horse characters too. In fact, the main conflict here is the fact that the heroine Taryn once told hero Billy that she would never commit to a man who rode bulls because she has seen the heartache it can cause in a family when things go wrong. Through a series of flashbacks, the author shows us how Billy and Taryn handled this situation. The writer's voice is so solid here, and it's clear she understands this world and its people, and I really felt like I came away with a better understanding of them. Her writing style felt so effortless and I loved that. The only thing that got in my way a bit as a reader was the use of flashbacks. In this case, Taryn's entire point of view (aside from the final chapter) is expressed through flashbacks, while Billy's voice is always in the current day. It just took me out of the story a bit but I was never confused as to what was happening. All that said, I really enjoyed this one and I can definitely see myself picking up another Katie Golding book.
I just loved Billy ... who wouldn't? He was a hunk who always put everyone else ahead of himself, especially his brother. I loved how Taryn didn't put up with crap from the guys she dated ... I only wish she would have stood up for herself that much with her manager. I liked how Billy told the story from the present and Taryn told the story from the past. Although the story was slow at times, it kept my interest as to what Billy's big mistake was and if Taryn would forgive him. This is the first book I have read by this author and I will definitely read other books by her.
Billy loved Taryn from the moment he laid eyes on her and that would never change. Billy was the laid-back cowboy who loved the adrenaline highs of bull riding and moto racing. Taryn was the hot-head who also loved the adrenaline highs of moto racing ... but bull riding no so much. She had boyfriends who were bull riders, but when her friend's fiancé died bull riding, she wanted nothing to do with bull riders. Billy was an EX-bull rider so things were great ... only with their schedules they hardly saw each other. Can a long-distance relationship really work?

Initially, I didn’t think I would like this book as much as I did. I listened to the audiobook and the twang of the accents bothered me at first, even though it made the story more authentic. I ended up not minding it by the end because the narrators were pretty good.
The story started slowly, but progressively picked up pace and by the end I totally bought into their relationship and their whole world. I enjoyed the side characters, too. Good thing since there are at least two more books in the series.
It was pretty exciting to read about the rodeo circuit and the jet setting world of moto racing. I don’t do sports except in my romance novels, so I really knew nothing about either. Setting it with those sports as the background upped the conflict between the two MCs and made their story more angsty and compelling. The story and the characters were well rounded and the author very cleverly tied up all the loose ends, even the ones that I’d glossed over.
This is an author I’d been meaning to get to and I was not disappointed by the story or the writing. I’m excited to get to the other books in the series.
I really enjoyed Fearless from start to finish it kept me interested. Katie Golding is a new author to me with this book and I was not disappointed. It was hard at times to put the book down and go back to dealing with the real word when all I wanted to do was figure out if Taryn was going to take Billy back.
With a big mistake that Billy made being the start of all his problems through the book kept me reading and wondering just what it was that he did. She did an amazing job with the present being Billy's POV and the past being Taryn's POV until they caught up together. It had a little bit of the Lost series feel with all the flashbacks in a good way.
Katie does a great job at getting the reader in the seat of all the fun from motocross racing but also all the hard times as well. Leaves you cheering for the characters to win off the track with the same success that they have on the track.
I am certainly going to keep my eye out for the next book in this series when its released.
Fearless (Moto Grand Prix #1). By Katie Golding. 2020. Sourcebooks Casablanca (ARC eBook).
Looking for a steamy second-chance romance? Here’s your fix, because sparks sure do fly between Billy King, a cowboy-turned-Moto Grand Prix racer and Taryn Ledell, a cowgirl-turned World Superbike racer.
I was really entertained with Fearless’ fusion of the worlds of racing and rodeoing. And Golding’s alternating timeline between past and present was refreshing and well-paced. I adored Billy, especially when he shared the page with his endearing best bud, Gidget the horse. Taryn’s expectations and reactions were quite explosive at times that I’d fall out of like with her, but the characters and their romance are emotional and complex; and overall, it was easy to root for these two. I look forward to reading another book by Golding.
Second chance romance for Billy and Taryn. Billy and Taryn met at a rodeo while they were both competing and they decided to see each other except both are in Motorcycle racing circuit. They were often in competitions and opposite continent. They heavily relied on daily phone calls until Taryn couldn't handle anymore. She wanted him but he is worlds away when she wanted him next to her and ready to give up when she couldn't handle being apart from her so she wanted to break up and she hangs up on him. Next thing she knows is that he shows up. Everything seems okay until didn't. Billy came back from winning except Taryn didn't want him and break up. Billy can't live a life without Taryn and he is determined to win her over but it won't be easy. Story weaves present and past and try to figure out why they had to break up. It takes awhile to explain but it's not what I thought it would be. Taryn's temperament was erratic as her sport and their secret behind their break up took bit longer than I expected. Now I have to find out what happened to her best friend and Billy's brother. Thanks to Netgalley and Sourcebook Casablanca for ARC.
So I knew absolutely nothing about Motocross before reading this HEA romance novel and you know what- that's fine and it's fun. Billy and Taryn both give their points of view in this novel that has a dual time line of their relationship. These two have circled around and with each other for years but now things have come to a point where, well, you know. Billy's coping with injuries that are making him miserable. Taryn has been miserable in the past because Billy. You know their stories are going to merge and all wrongs will be overcome but it's the journey that's fun. AND, there's rodeo! I liked Taryn (no nonsense woman) and Billy (big shell there) and was pleased for them. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. I liked this one.
