Katsuhiko Ogata is a professor of engineering who was born in Tokyo , Japan ; on January 6 of 1925 . He earned a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Tokyo in 1947. After receiving his degree, he spent three years as a research assistant at the Scientific Research Institute in Tokyo , followed by two years of industrial experience in Nippon Steel Tube Company, Japan. In 1952 he received a scholarship "Fulbright Travel Grant" to go to the United States and more advanced degrees. He earned a master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois in 1953, and a Ph.D. in Engineering Science from the University of California , Berkeley in 1956.
Shortly after receiving his doctorate in 1956, he joined the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Minnesota to teach and do research in the field of control systems. While he maintains his tenure at the University of Minnesota, also taught control systems in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Yokohama National University , Japan, for a total of three years.
K. Ogata, has authored seven textbooks, three of which have been published in various editions. His philosophy of writing has been that university engineering students should not spend too much time in deriving or verifying mathematical equations in control engineering. So in his books includes all leads and necessary for the student to understand the material from books without problems with math tests. This approach was well accepted by the control community worldwide. As a result, most of his books were translated into other languages, including Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Polish, Korean, Chinese, Malay. hmm, the first control book i've ever reaad. still clearly in my mind the whole story of this book. from the system theory, laplace domain, simple control, lead lag, pid control, pole placement, etc. thanks to this book i could pass my QE examination :)
My favorite book about continous linear time invariant systems, in a practical approach. It includes many engineering problems, and a wide variety of topics like time and frequency domain analysis and synthesis control techniques, as state-space tools like pole placement, observers and so on. Very recommendated.
Es bueno cuando ya se tiene experiencia pero en mi caso no me quedaron claros muchos temas. Tiene demasiadas ecuaciones y aunque los primeros capítulos son excelentes se vuelve más complejo conforme se avanza. En general es bueno pero no excelente.
