Unforeseen Path

Rate this book
After sacrificing himself to the Wyrm-Ghast so that his people could escape Darom, Startum Ironwolf has been left behind on the western side of the Nordic Region with Phoenix, Neristhana, Helgath, and Neysa. Before going after his Battle Mage Class, Star has offered to assist Töten Feinde in recovering his stronghold before time runs out.

Unfortunately, things never seem to go as planned, especially not with the bounty that has been placed on his head by the Chaos Storm Alliance. Along the way, Star meets new friends and enemies while battling against the challenges that The World keeps throwing at him. If he’s not on the top of his game, Star could lose someone very close to him and be blocked from acquiring his new class.

Love the multiple plots and Jason's non-redundant approach

I love how the various charicter plots are coming tegether. Jason's method makes for an exciting read that keeps me tuned in. I also really appreciate not having to read through redundant charicter details and gaming mechanics. Thank you Jason; your readers are not idiots. If you like great stories that capture your imagination and charicter with a righteous moral compass that point to True North, then Jason is the author for you.

So I finally get why I enjoy the World so much while I dislike the setting.

I hate the characters. This is in no way about the writing, it is purely for content. I know players like the ones described here, I find them irritating beyond words. So the slice-of-life feel that this book gives off is very entertaining from a world setting stand point.

Another great book in the series

It is another great book in the series, that leaves me wanting the next book. The character development is outstanding not just for the MC but also for the side characters. The people of the World are just as real as Players with there range of emotions. Also it also great to read a series where not everyone is perfect and everything works out, its great to see some mishaps and then some scrambling to get it sorted. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes rpg, litrpg, fantasy, or just a good read.

Another excellent installment

World building, main character development, pulling some story lines together.

I look forward to reading the continuing saga. Keep on writing Jason.

A fun volume

Have been enjoying the ride, though the escape scene made me laugh out loud like nothing else has in years. Nice to see some storylines begin to tie together. How this will play out in the end is the question, though it can be a few more volumes down the road.

Not bad

Sometimes when reading LitRPG books I see game elements that I wish were part of games available to me today. The idea of a nightmare level start with better starting stats paid for by insane difficulty (at least in the beginning) is one of those.
The only real downside to this series so far has been the continuous complaining of his "friends". His allowing their bad attitudes to repeatedly endanger and even impede missions does not fit with the superior strategist role Star plays in the story.
A couple of the recent books in the series seemed very short and light on content. Having said that, I still look forward to seeing how the story turns out.

Cheeks follows his recent trend of the new “entry” in this series being half a book. It’s getting frustrating to be at the 80% mark only to discover the remaining 20% if nothing but stat sheets. The story is moving forward at a glacial pace. With too much repetition and time spent on players “joking” with one another.

Startum has made no progress in regards to his class, we get pointless chapters about the “Brat Pack” singing songs, and the numerous other plot lines being juggled over multiple locations felt underwhelming and under developed.

While I plan to stay with this series since I am invested in the story, this LitRPG series pales in comparison to the high qualities of work like Awaken Online by Bagwell or the Underverse by Cajiao.

Reputation matters.

Great book , Jason helps Toten on his mission with Neysa ,Helgarth,Neristhana,Phoenix,Zeven and Neri. It is so good to get away from mass battles and his annoying guild members and read about my favourite characters (not so much Phoenix) and their adventures as they travel to meet up with the "brat pack" and their companions , I'm looking forward to the group meeting the dwarves and no doubt the PKers . My one bitch is with jasons relationship with Helgarth , is he a hormonal ten year old or a grown man , his pathetic attempts to hid his attraction are really grating , a little honesty would be nice and I'm sure she'd appreciate that as well

Another great book

Really enjoying the book and I do appreciate the limiting of stats and spreadsheets within the book and putting it all at the end. It really kills the experience when other authors are spamming it to get their page count up. If you want to put in more story because you have to limit yourself on kindle page number or something maybe a web link to where people can find all the info. Again great work and I'm looking forward to the next one.

What you expect, no complaints But 1 wish

Wish he would cover more time. The entire contents of this book occur in day / log in session. I want to see more progression. He is great telling everything that has happened with everyone in detail but I need some more. Keep the detail and character numbers I just want more in a single book!

another win

Jason just can’t seem to write a bad novel. The way he progresses a character story while fluidly changing direction to another character to advance their story is spectacular. I also like that when he introduces new characters, he doesn’t skimp on them either. The only down side is there do seem to be slight grammar errors but that doesn’t bother me at all.

Enjoyable easy read, I would rate the book higher only I have some mild issues with the way most of the women are written about. Jodi is supposed to have a grown son and her attitude towards Star makes no sense. She acts like he owes her and she's extremely juvenile. Rani. Meh I could do without either one.

Another good book!

I love this The World! I’ve listened to this series on Audible for a while, several times actually, and just recently found it on KindleUnlimited. I love the breadth of character story lines in this series that surrounds Stardum. It’s exciting and adventurous storytelling, with a entertaining level of pop culture and gamer easter eggs for geeks like me :)

Another good installment

I really like this series, however I dislike the page padding at the end. Their gear and skills appendix section for the main characters are like 30% of the book, some is ok but personally this takes it too far.

Another example of an excellent book! I loved it I just love all the character interactions and how detailed everything is in these books. I hope that everyone reads them from the beginning and enjoys them as much as I do. Can’t wait for the next one!

DNF at 3%

I find it hard to believe that people in a brand new MMORPG would waste time to sing songs for other players or that anyone really would care. The whole "evil propaganda" arc is ridiculous in times of streaming..

I am not sure if i want to continue the series..
