humidity, darkness and good ventilation

To have a good root cellar, you need good ventilation, high humidity and darkness. Temperatures should be form 32 degrees Fahrenheit to 40. A root cellar is ideal for storing vegetables and fruits for future use. The author teaches you how to build your own.

Good information for beginners, but very very basic and brief.

Disappointed

This book had excellent reviews but was very repetitious and basic and short.
Pro: It emphasized the need for low temperatures and a high humidity.
Cons: It recommended good ventilation but without details. Have an elevated outflow vent and a low inflow vent? That’s it? It should be several feet underground but this would require extensive excavation and how would you use a basement as a root cellar as I want to do?
I’d like more on preventing mold than just increasing ventilation and not keeping moldy vegetables in the cellar.
