Welcome to the Puppy Place--where every puppy finds a home! Charles and his shy new friend David are camping out in the backyard when a big storm blows in. They make a dash for the house-but not before Charles sees a pair of eyes glowing in the night. Was that a puppy out there, all alone in the storm? The next day, Charles and David find the stray, injured mixed-breed puppy, win his trust, and get him to the vet. He's very sick, and the vet is not sure she can save him. Will this Benji look-alike be lucky enough to survive and find a home?

★★★★ Lucky (The Puppy Place book 16) by Ellen Miles
This is a cute story for young readers.
This one is a about a stray mixed puppy, named Lucky. He gets found dirty, cold, and scared by the stream. He needs to get healthier before he can find a home.
Charles and Lizzie, like most kids love puppies. Their family fosters puppies. This not only helps the puppies, it also teaches the kids the responsibilities that come with a pet. The kids are getting good with training puppies. But taking care of an extremely sick puppy, is new to them. He is very sick, with a big cut on his paw, all most starved, and severely dehydrated. This time around the kids also have the help of their friend, David.
This is a good book for puppy lovers. This book teaches good puppy health, patience, and teamwork.

Charles and his older sister, Lizzie, are in elementary school. The Peterson family have a puppy named Buddy plus they foster dogs and help them find homes.

Charles was camping in the backyard of his new friend, David. A rain storm came up and David's mom told them to come and sleep inside instead of in Charles' tent. As they were going inside, Charles and David think they saw a puppy. The next day they go looking for it and find a tired and hungry puppy with a cut foot. They eventually catch him and take him to the vet. Then they are determined to find out who the puppy's owner is so they can return him home.

Though this book is a quick read and directed at elementary-aged children, I found it entertaining. There is a learning experience and a puppy tip at the end. It is written in third person perspective and first person from Lucky, the puppy's point of view. It is the sixteenth in the Puppy Place series, which currently has 64 books in the series, and works as a stand alone.

I think that there could have been a happier ending, instead of giving the puppy to the owner they could have given it to the owner, and then their parents could have got a dog and they could have named it Lucky but it was kinda funny and for me the fact that there are dogs in the story makes it even better

Another puppy rescued by Charles and Lizzie Peterson. Charlie really enjoys this series and it's a good one for him to read aloud to us, but I'm getting a bit wearied at this point, and honestly, I think Miles may be, too.

A nice instalment in this series. It’s nice that the puppy was just lost rather than homeless. My daughter enjoyed this story.

my niece will love this. I am glad that this book actually had a real good reason for giving the puppy to the family that they give it to. in some of the other books it just seems to coincidental or, even worse, like the kids are super pushy. this one it makes sense and flows nicely. I still don't like the occasional dog interjections.

Dear Readers,

This book is about a small, fritend puppy who was washed down streem when a flood hit his town. Chareles and his new freind David where camping when it started raining and thay had to go inside but on there way home, they saw little green eyes staring at them. The next morning Chareles and David went out to the river where they had slept and found puppy prints in the mud. They evenchale found a log wher the puppy prints lead them to. The log had a bit of blood on it. later They where at Chareles' mom's offis looking through some old news papers when thay found the one they wher looking for. In the end, the owners got there dog back and evreone was happy.

Traits that describe Lucky:

Shy:these people could hert me!

Fritend:Lucky runs away from people.

Dirty:That mud looks like fun!

I really loved this book. I like how they made the character David come out brightly to a new approach of dogs. I think that this is a slightly bad example for children under 5, because Charles and David kept a secret that they were trying to keep a secret that they were saving *trying* a infected, sick stray dog. This book rocked!

Lucky is a little mixed breed puppy who got swept away from his home upstream during the latest floods. Charles and his new friend find Lucky during a backyard campout. The boys intend to find out where Lucky came from and return him to his rightful owners. I got very teary eyed at poor Lucky who was injured and filthy dirty from the flood.
