After a group of thugs burn down their house, Alex and Melissa and their children try to settle into an empty house on their street. But there are lingering tensions in the neighborhood and it doesn’t take long for emotions to come to a boil. Then, when people start to run out of food, they become desperate, turning on those they believe still have supplies, including Alex and Melissa. Alliances are created and decisions are made, decisions with deadly consequences. Will Alex, Melissa, and their children survive this new challenge, or will those who covet what they have be the end of them?
Christine loves to read, but also loves to write suspenseful stories. She enjoys camping and hiking with her family and watching movies. Check out her website: christinekersey.com
This is the 4th book in what has been a generally good series. The conundrum of how to survive in a suburban area as your finite food and water sources dwindle is well-portrayed. I was a bit put-off by the portrayal of the military which shows up to "help" as cold-blooded killers that execute unarmed people out of irritation. While it would be tough to be in service and confronted with a lot of desperate civilians, I honestly don't think they would be this murderous and ruthless. I look forward to the next book as our group heads to a hopeful place of some safety.
In this part of the series, it’s kill or be killed and the blood bath continues. No one can be trusted, not even the “good guys”. Will the families decide to stay and fight to the end, or will they risk hitting the road to seek out family far away, hoping that things are better over there? This is not a stand-alone story so you really need to read all the books in chronological order to know what is going on.
I just finished book 4 in the EMP Chaos series and it definitely kept me reading, unable to put it down! I have no idea what my family would do if this were to really happen, but with tensions being so high all over the world, I'm going to make sure we're stocked up with provisions!
Another great book by Christine Kersey. I loved this book and all the characters in this series. I can’t wait to read next book by Christine regarding post-apocalyptic books. I would recommend this book and all Christine’s books.
This was an edge of your seat novel. I loved the way Alex and Melissa work with others in their neighborhood to take care of their group. It will be hard to wait for the next book in the series!
