Poison Parcheesi and Wine

Rate this book
Our four friends are steeped in the secrets of the wine country . . . and another husband dies. (The husband always dies.)

A wasbund, his wine, and the Big European Tour of Arkansas make for a triangle and a tricky state of affairs. When our four friends embark on a political stump tour, they're looking for a good time in the Arkansas wine country. But when a husband is found dead, Amy wonders if she's been railroaded into a black widow society. Is it Deja Vu? Or has her snippet come true?. Amy needs to uncork the murderous plot before another husband falls prey.

Who killed the husband? The wife and her friends with their ironclad alibi? Genna’s political candidate? A group of wine enthusiasts known as the Cork Docs? A high school jock with unrequited love, or a sommelier-in-training with a caseload of secrets? Everyone had something to gain.

As the friends of the Cardboard Cottage scatter like players on a Parcheesi board, Amy needs to solve the mystery and bring them safely to Home Square before the game is ruined by the poison in the wine.

Jane Elzey writes Southern humorous mysteries for women who like their friendships fierce, their secrets messy, and their murders (kind of) funny. Perfect for fans of Janet Evanovich, Jana DeLeon, and Tonya Kappes.

Jane Elzey’s Cardboard Cottage Mystery series follows four unlikely friends whose game night leads to laughter… and a murder. Her newest series: A Snooty Foodie Mystery with a Pinch of Magic, launches 2026 with The Bun Also Rises. Jane's novels celebrate strong female friendships, small-town life, and quirky Southern sass. It’s the perfect score for readers who like their cozy mysteries clever, funny, and a teeny bit daring.

A former journalist and editor turned novelist, Jane Elzey writes with a storyteller’s heart, creating settings and characters so authentic they seem real. Readers describe her as “Evanovich with a Southern drawl.” Wit, humor, and heart together in a classic whodunit that's part murder, part mischief, and entirely entertaining.

Jane lives in the Arkansas Ozarks with her feline family, where she’s either writing, digging in the garden, or plotting her next killer game.

I was able to buy this book as well as Books 4 & 5 at the White Street Walk. Ms. Elzey was signing books that night. I have been on the wine tour in Arkansas but this mystery gives a new twist to that part of the State. I had never thought about how many cites with European names we have here in Arkansas. Ms. Elzey always does a lot of research for her books.
