Amazing!
This book kept appearing to me on Facebook until I finally downloaded it! I have enjoyed Ruth Saberton’s writing before. The Lost Angel is such an amazing story that made my heart sing! I don’t want to give away any of the details, but if you get it, you will not be disappointed!

Fabulous story
Loved this book so much. Based on the famous cease fire on Christmas1914 this story brings several generations of British and German families to life. Could have been 1,000 pages long and I still would have wanted more!

Such a sweet story
I loved Ruth's Rosecraddick series and this one although only a short story is really good, very engrossing. I must admit I wanted more but it was a very satisfying ending.

A beautifully written love story. Came to the end too quickly. The story was wrapped around the true event of the Christmas Day truce of 1914. Gently linked in to the other books in the series but could be read alone. However once you read this you'll want to read them all!

The book goes back and forth between 1914 and today. It started in 1914 with the meeting of a woodcarver, Jack, and a German schoolteacher, Heinrich, who were soldiers fighting against each other in WWI on the Western Front on Christmas Eve.
The German man, Henrich, started singing Christmas carols, and all the men, as the story goes went into No Man’s Land and stopped fighting for the day. The British brought cigarettes and liquor and they played football with each other. During this crazy break in the fighting, a little wooden angel, carved by the woodcarver, Jack, dropped from his pocket and the German schoolteacher picked it up.
It became Henrich’s lucky talisman, as it had Jack’s. When Henrich was shot, it blocked the bullet from going into his heart. But Jack, without his lucky talisman, fell on hard times. He was wounded by shrapnel and blinded. Many soldiers had lucky charms to get them through the war and the angel had been Jack’s. He had carved it for his love, Caro, with her face on the angel. Henrich Schneider felt he owed everything to Jack for the angel that had saved his life and brought him back home.
Decades later, the granddaughter of the German schoolteacher, Ellen, found the wooden angel packed away with a love note and decided she needed to return it to the owner’s family. She cleaned it up and make it beautiful again. The love note inside was to Caro from Jack and Ellen knew the family would want to see it. Caro and Jack would be the grandparents of the current generation now. Ellen knew how much she had loved her grandmother, Clara, and felt their family would feel the same.
Upon traveling to Cornwall and finding Jack’s grandson, Ellen learned what a wonderful craftsman Jack had been when she saw angels all around the church that Jack had sculpted even though he was then blind. Everyone admired his achievements and they were worth lots of money. Money that the family now needed.
The story is fiction with a little history rolled into it. Very well written, and very enjoyable.

This book goes back and forth between 1914 during WWI and current times. When Ellen is cleaning out the house of her recently deceased German grandmother she finds a carved angel with a hidden letter inside from a fiancee of a British soldier. This piques her curiosity as to how her German grandfather came to have this angel and starts to investigate the origins of the angel. I think if you read this book you will definitely enjoy the mystery and how Ellen solved it. I really enjoyed the book and plan to read other books by this author. I recommended this to my book club for their December book.

Interesting little story - prior to WW1 a two people from Cornwall and in different stations in life fall in love and plan to marry Christmas 1914. WW1 intervenes. The man is sent to war and carves a little wooden angel.
In 'modern times', a young woman clearing out her deceased German grandmother's possessions and comes across the wooden angel and also that it has a secret compartment where a letter from the young Cornish fiancee is safely hidden.
She attempts to discover the origin of the angel and how her German grandfather came to be in possession of it.

What a Treasure!
The story of the lost angel unfolds through a letter tucked in a secret compartment within her base and snippets from family members. The writing is so vivid I felt as if I was with Ellen as she thought of what she knew of the Angel's travels and protection and headed up the path to Sea Angel to meet Jack's descendants with the angel in her pocket protecting her.

Really enjoy this author and am always Excited to read another of her books. My best friend lived in Fowey and we were often down in that area exploring CORNWALL
Ruth writes these two time lines so we’ll and you get completely immersed in both lives. Her descriptions of the area and detail of the times is amazing and the Rosecraddic books are just another example of her continuing stories

Lost angels

Loved this book. Loved how two people can together through love and this was cascaded through history.
Totally believable. Romantic but not sexual or mushy.
Once I picked this book up I found it so difficult to put down.

This was the first book by this author for me but I plan to read more. Really enjoyed it. Ellen is cleaning out her grandmother's house when she finds a carved angel with a letter inside. She starts to investigate her history and finds the angel goes back to the 1st world war. Loved the story.

Wonderful
I loved reading this book, I have read all the Rosecraddick Chronicles and have enjoyed reading them all. This book is a truly romantic story. I fell in love with Jack and Caro. Ruth Saberton has not disappointed with this book.

A beautiful story
This book is a beautiful story & although set around the festive season it spans many generations from the First World War to the present day & reunites two family via a tiny but exquisitely carved wooden Angel.

Love all this authors books. Read books 1 and 2, I read this the 4 th book, but really need to get book 3. Oyster shore, I’m waiting to get from local library as price is on the high side on Amazon as I buy and read so many books…..
