From Rebellion to Redemption: A Journey Through the Great Themes of Christian Faith

Rate this book
Understanding What You Already Believe. Whether you are a brand new believer or have been a mature Christian for many years, your choice to follow Jesus means that you’ve begun a lifelong journey—a process—that puts you in a place where God’s Spirit can touch and transform your life. Your choices will now connect what you believe in the spiritual realm with what you do in the temporal world. But making that connection doesn’t always come naturally. That’s where the creeds, confessions, and spiritual disciplines that have nurtured and strengthened believers throughout Christian history can also help you. One such devotional aid is the Heidelberg Catechism, written during the Reformation. Randal Working incorporates this question-and-answer survey of the apostle Paul’s epistle to the Romans into a devotional format that follows a simple - Guilt—our utter brokenness and need for redemption
- Grace—what God has done to redeem and restore us to a right relationship with Him
- Gratitude—our response to grace, demonstrated by a new way of living In addition to providing a 52-week "mini Bible course" on Romans, From Rebellion to Redemption deftly weaves the study with prayer, Scripture reading, writings from a broad spectrum of Christian thinkers, and commentary with questions for reflection and discussion. The combination produces a rich worship experience built around the exploration of key doctrines of our faith. The result is a systematic and personal approach for individual or group study that allows you to take spiritual inventory, consider the great themes of Christianity, and find strength for your journey into deeper intimacy with God.

From Rebellion to Redemption (FRR) is a devotional focused on the Heidelberg Catechism. There are 52 sections in FRR, one for each week of the year. Each section of the catechism is organized as follows: a beginning prayer, Q&A from the catechism, a discussion of the catechism, readings from other authors, daily scriptures to meditate upon, questions to consider, and a closing prayer. I tailored my use of the devotional as I expect most readers would. I read the beginning prayer out loud, followed by reading the discussion and excerpts from other authors, and closed by reading the ending prayer out loud. The Lord used this book in my life in a very powerful and personal way. I plan to read through the book a second time emphasizing meditating on the scriptures associated with the Q&A and answering the questions for consideration. I highly recommend it.
