Meet Hate Love

An act of hysterical blackmail between two work enemies kicks off this flirty and utterly ridiculous laugh-out-loud romantic comedy from USA TODAY bestselling author Stevie J. Cole.

I hated Vance Morgan, my arrogant office mate, more than anyone in the world. And yet, there I was, on a Paris-bound flight, cramped in the small space by his six-foot-four, arrogant frame.

And why?

Because after the sexy, thieving bastard stole my dream assignment, I found out he had a Lonely Fans page. One dedicated to pictures of his man-meat stick in front of world monuments. So, I did what any rational woman in my situation would do.

I blackmailed his hot, article-swindling ass. The problem was, he blackmailed me right back. And thanks to him and his can’t- lose-attitude, we ended up stuck together, Traveling around Europe while coming up with tips and tricks on how to survive vacationing with someone you hate. Easy. Like I said, I despised the man. Or at least I thought I did...

After a few days of tiny hotel rooms and steamy tension, everything between us came to a head—a really big, massive, enticing head.

Now the only tip I’m desperately seeking is how to survive falling for my used-to-be enemy.

I laughed and laughed. Then laughed some more. Then chortled, snaughled, snorted my coffee out.
It's uproariousy funny. The most absurd, unimaginable situations Stevie puts Blake and Vance Morgan in. They're Co workers....actually co-office space occupiers, at each other's throats all the time, and they are at war for the upcoming Paris assignment. Both snatching it from under each other's noses.
Trick is they go together...very reluctantly
I cannot even begin to tell you how fresh the banter is. How unbelievably wicked Stevie's sense of humour is and how she's going to hell for making Blake and Vance have sex in Sistpeen chapel with Jesus looking at them..
Girrrlll..you got issues!!
Laugh out loud, riot of a romantic comedy
UNLIKE any I've ever read before!!
Grab. It. Now!!

I absolutely loved this laugh out loud (literally) office romance. The banter between these characters is unmatched!

This book reminded me a lot of The Hating Game, but with so many funny moments. I don't think there was a chapter that I didn't laugh out loud from the back and forth between the main characters, as well as the side characters (mainly looking at you Margot).

Vance and Blake have worked for the same company, sitting next to each other and have never really gotten along. After a miscommunication the previous year, Blake punched Vance and it all went downhill from there. For Blake at least.

Recently Blake has been gearing up to go on an assignment in Paris, which just so happens to fall at the same time as her sister and her ex-fiancé's engagement party, so she is looking forward to getting away. Until the assignment is taken away from her and given to Vance. But Blake is not going to take that sitting down. Margot and Blake find some blackmail information on Vance and use it to her advantage to get her to go to Paris as well.

Once that works, Blake and Vance are headed to Europe to find out if you can "travel with someone you hate" and report on it. They have to stay in the same room at the hotel, go to ticketed locations together, and eat dinner together every night. But what happens when you are forced to spend so much time together? Will Blake still hold onto her hate, or will she let it go and allow herself to feel around Vance?

Let me just say - the blackmail that Blake finds out was HILARIOUS. I mean the whole situation was great. And the moments in Europe that revolve around that - so funny.

This whole book was really funny; I know I keep saying that, but writing this review I am reminiscing in my head at the funny moments that this book brought.

I would absolutely love a book on Margot - she stole the show with the text messages and the banter going back and forth between her and Blake.

I didn't know what to expect going into this book as Stevie Cole is a new to me author, but this is definitely the start of a loving relationship with her books! If you are looking for a hilarious, romcom, this is the book for you.

This is a first Stevie J. Cole read for me and it was absolutely delightful!!
As a lover of vocabulary I ate up Blake's logophile personality which inspired tons of verbal sparring between her and Vance. It was an aphrodisiac to my reading palate and I could have read it all day long!

Vance had a very interesting side hustle through Lonely Fans, a take on another popular fan site, that starred his oversized peen with famous sites in the background. Now how could Vance afford to travel the world taking pictures of his giant hotdog? His legitimate job was as a travel writer, but when his co-worker, the woman of his dreams, discovers about his second job she does what any self respecting woman would do...she finagles her way into his next trip. Okay, she actually blackmails him, but I did mention woman of his dreams, right?

Blake and Vance worked at the same employer, but while these two bickered everyday while sitting side by side in the office, that undercurrent of hate was just a slow simmer for something stronger. Boy do I love a good enemies to lovers romance and these two brought it!!

I realized at some point while reading this, that Vance and Blake totally reminded me of my husband and myself on vacation. Vance is a total over scheduler, his itinerary is listed out from dawn to dusk and he has alarms set all day long for literally everything.  Blake is much more of a go with the flow, takes a ton of pictures even if they seem random, and she continually tries to get the stiff man she's vacationing with to loosen up. I could easily trade each of those statements out with me and my husband and it made me laugh through the entire book.

Meet Hate Love is full of great banter, witty peens, I mean puns, chemistry through the roof, and big vocabulary...which is super hot, I mean if that is your kink. Which it's totally mine.

Jesus Christ, I don't think I’ve ever laughed so hard because of a book. These characters were phenomonal.
I used that word on purpose, and I always need to think about the spelling, because I'm Dutch, so sorry if I misspelled it, but they were awesome.
If you read it, you know why I used phenomonal 😉
I also really loved how Stevie used her knowledge of the city's. She did an awesome job. (Recently read another parisian setting book and well, let's say, facts weren’t correct.)
This book deserves all the praise. Even the side characters are awesome. And Mr. Rent-a-poo? I need a spin-off story... just saying.

Hilarious. Stevie J. Cole wrote a tale that had me bursting out laughing.
Great writing, as always. She never disappoints, Meet Me Love made me feel, I connected right away with Vance and Blake, two highly endearing personalities.

Okay so I really really loved this one!
I’m so thankful for this ARC, and the book is out today so you can read it immediately!!

The story was amazing, the main characters were so funny and I had a great time reading it! I laughed so many times and I really needed that. And now when someone asks me what is my favorite rom-com - this one will be the answer!

- “Congratulations on being able to do pull-ups on a door handle.”
- “Why do you have to take a shit on everything? You’re worse than a pigeon.”
- I felt my expression go deadpan. Because had this beautiful, tattooed, pierced-dick man just said he’d choked a woman in bed?
- “Fair warning,” he grabbed my leg and shoved my knee to the door behind us. “I fuck hard.” And then he slammed into me.
- “I bought a fucking thesaurus before we left for Europe, just to have better words to use when we argue.”

Blake and Vance are office enemies who are constantly teasing each other. Blake is really unlucky in her everyday life and although I feel sorry for her, every little misfortune of hers made me laugh. While at first Vance seems like a playboy, he’s actually so caring and so funny.
Their teasing was so funny and their NY-Paris-Rome trip was so much fun, filled with her cursed moments (who passed a little on him as well), funny bickering, and some spicy times.
Everything was perfectly described so imagining it all in my head was so easy.

I really hope this becomes a series, I think it easily could because it has amazing side characters so it would be so fun to have a few more books as funny as this one.

P.s. a big middle finger to Kate and Maureen!

This was such an over the top absurd and unrealistic story, but my god, it was entertaining. You just have to go with the flow and stop thinking about what's happening and just accept it.

The MMC is a travel journalist who posts his (obviously big) pierced dick at tourist attractions on Lonely Fans to make money to pay off his grandma's debts. And is otherwise a neat freak that loves his life completely organised. I thought that with his side hustle he would be portrayed as a manwhore but he wasn't. He hadn't had sex for a long time (maybe for all of the six months that he knew Blake) and he was a cutie. Tattoos, piercings and all. I liked him.

Blake was another story. She was portrayed in such an OTT way that it was absurd. She was a bad luck magnet. Pigeons shit on her seventeen times a month(!), everything that can or even cannot go wrong goes wrong. Like literally everything! And in addition to that she is too stupid to live. In her world scammers don't exist, she just blindly trusts everyone and doesn't believe Vance when he tells her she was being scammed. I mean the rest of the story was so absurd that it fit the story, so it was okay.

And there were a lot of crazy and absurd things happening, so this story is for readers that like these kinds of stories. Porn star signings, Oompa loompa ass porn videos, rent-a poo chaos, vatican sex (not as kinky as it sounds but he wears a kilt) and more. It was entertaining but completely unrealistic. 🙈

And it wasn't that spicy and rather slow burn, they have sex around the 60% mark and I think there were two sex scenes? I'm not sure. But it was a good mixture for me. :)

Two coworkers for a travel site blackmail each other to land a dream work assignment and end up on a European trip together.

This book had a great sense of humor. It was delightful how the two leads egged each other on, and Vance's "Lonely Fans" account for his d*ck visiting famous places led to a ton of hilarious scenes (and also seems like something that must exist in real life, but I'm not brave enough to Google it).

I thought the premise of their trip together ("how to travel with someone you hate") was a great angle for the story, and at first they both put thought into what "tips" they'd write for their articles once the trip was over. But that plot line, along with the "work relationships heavily discouraged" bit slowly fizzled out, and the drama that fueled the final third of the book came from a different source entirely.

Overall, the characters aren't especially unique and the story beats felt predictable, but the funny moments kept the book memorable.

Well, this is just a fun read. Vance and Blake are office enemies...or are they?! Blake blackmails Vance after he steals her Europe trip at work so they end up going together to write about how to travel with someone you hate.

Vance needs the trip for his Lonely Fans account, My Dick Travels. Yep, he takes dick pics and dresses it up in a variety of famous places (Sistpeen Chapel anyone).

I love all the witty wordplay throughout this book. Dual POV, great chemistry, fun story, HEA...and PLEASE tell me that Margot (Blake's BFF) gets a book. That girl is HILARIOUS! This book is romcom perfection (with a little spice and dirty talking mixed in).

Favorite Spoiler Free Quotes:
“So what are your My Dick Travels followers called? Peen Peepers or Meatstick Minions. Wait! Please tell me you lovingly address them as Sausage Scopophiliacs.”

“Most idiots would say, ‘Don’t be a pussy,’ but vaginas are resilient. They facilitate birth. I could thump you in the testicles and you’d fall to the ground in the fetal position. Hence, don’t be weak like a ballsack.”

I saw a post from the author a few months ago saying it's [Meet Hate Love] is absolutely ridiculous.

While I've read some entertaining craziness from Cole, I think Blake wins! This woman has my sympathy and I'm hoping to nab a spot in her friend circle. (Trust me when I say it would be safer than not with Margot around! I think Margot on your team outweighs a curse anyday! 😉)

Hilarious hijinks, a wild side hustle, and enough pheromones to put a herd of cattle in heat, Meet Hate Love is the perfect diversion. Explore a little of Europe, learn about "memorable" movies, and never take your eyes off the sky. Okay, so fall for the office hottie, sink into the naughty fun, and maybe get a lasting souvenir!

However way you want to look at it, Meet Hate Love is going to shock in all the best ways!

I didn’t know what to expect when I read this author was writing a rom com. What I read surpassed all my expectations.
Hilarious, sexy and did I mention snort laugh out loud this read was perfection!
The wacko-doodle-soo moments were the perfect anecdote to make me laugh and put a huge smile on my face.
These characters were off the chain funny, smart and had a lot to say. Every character played a good part but the main characters Blake and Vance were simply delicious.
Traveling with someone you hate is an experience you’ll never forget and Blake and Vance showed us how that happened.
A spicy office rom com with a blackmail situation that just made the story even more enjoyable. The writing was smart, the sharp banter and sexy one liners were the best.

This is my first Stevie Cole read and I could not be more satisfied. Absolutely hilarious, banter filled, office romance. Forced proximity is always a favorite trope of mine and with these characters, Vance and Blake, I knew it was destined to be a good one. Finding out if you're able to travel with your office enemy all the way to Europe sounds like a recipe for disaster but it turns out to be exactly what these characters need. Hilarity ensues and it is such a delightful read. I laughed through the entire book and the supporting cast was just as funny. 4.5/5 stars.

Laugh out loud funny.

Vance and Blake are work enemies who are complete opposites - one is chronically late and a magnet for bad luck (and pigeons), the other is punctual and regimented (but with a secret). Once learning Vance's secret, Blake uses it to blackmail him into getting her trip to Europe back.

Meet Hate Love is witty, entertaining, and full of fun exchanges and comical happenings. I absolutely loved this one, and if I could give it more than five stars I would.

This was super cute! Really funny at times. Margot is probably my spirit animal 🤣 if I could give 1/2 stars, would have rated it 3.5 ⭐️ but goodreads doesn’t work that way so 🤷🏻‍♀️ I felt like the funny moments were so funny, and the spicy moments were great. Wish it was a lil spicier. Touched on hand necklace moment, and the guy had a pierced 🍆 but nothing happened with it? Couldn’t put my finger on it, but something was a little off with the flow for me. It felt a little rushed. Before I knew it, I was already 70% in. I was kind of expecting more for the hype that I heard about this book. Overall, it was super cute, and kept me entertained!

Okay, so this book is different than what I'm used to from Stevie J. Cole, but it was such a pleasant surprise! I couldn't stop laughing throughout the entire book! Vance and his roommate, Theo, had me practically rolling on the floor, and Vance and Blake's banter was hilarious! They were so good together, and their chemistry was off the charts! This story was a fun, lighthearted read, and I highly recommend it with more than five stars!

Stitches this comical enemies to lovers read was great. Vance and his peen, Blake and her sassiness. These two had a hate love back and forth comebacks that kept me throughly entertained. What a treat, Margot and Blake’s texts and conversations were just as entertaining. What a friend, then there is Vance and Theo. My goodness what a fun read.

This is a humdinger of a riotous, knee-slapper, side- splitting, hilarious winner of a book! I was waiting to pick someone up in a car park and elicited some side eye from passers-by as I laughed out loud at the most splendid banter to grace the pages of my kindle in many a year! Filled to the brim with glorious wordiness to gladden the heart of any logophile on the planet, it certainly brought my word nerd heart a huge dollop of happiness. Add in a fab enemies to lovers plotline which works with knobs on (🤣🤣), dual pov which enabled the reader to laugh and learn with both MCs, a truly mind in the gutter, best friend, a plague of rats here and there, oh, and a deliberate spreading of animal discharge...OK, that's enough from me. You get the idea. This book is brilliant on every front. Well written, great characters, a witathon to relish, a wonderful Vance and Blake and a travelling peen and, frankly, you have it all. Dazzlingly good. 💖💖💖💖💖🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

How funny!

Loved this quirky cute book. Vance and Blake are the perfect couple. He’s organized, She’s messy. He’s punctual, she’s late. But one thing they have in common, they are both extremely funny and their hot for the other.
This read is spicy, funny and extremely cute. The author gave us a very fun book and I couldn’t get enough. Loved it!

Unexpected and delightful.

From the moment that I read the blurb, I was excited to get my hands on this book. Especially, as I'm A fan of this author. Up to this point, I've only read her darker stuff so I was curious if she could pull this off. Not only did she pull this off but she knocked it out of the park.

Unique storyline, fantastic characters, and witty banter had me laughing and reading with a huge smile on my face. Some of the thoughts that Blake said were hilarious. Especially, getting inside her head and seeing what she was thinking.

This book totally exceeded my expectations and is a contender for the best of 2023.

When Blake finds out her office nemesis, Vance, has a LonelyFans account all based on his ahem *p*, what's her first reaction? Why, to blackmail him of course! There really was no other way for Blake to react considering their snarky relationship. But wait, Vance blackmails her back, and now they're on this trip together, seeing if they can travel with the person they hate, and make it work. They have to write an article about it, so they need to make it good. And it is good, so good. So good that they end up taking out all that animosity in very delicious ways.

Vance is on this trip with the woman of his dreams. She may be his messy opposite, and has no idea she's his dream, but she is. Now all he has to do is show her that beneath all their antagonism is something much more, that they can be together if she'd only let go, trust him, and allow herself to be with him.

Enemies to lovers with witty, snarky banter, the most adorable blackmail scheme ever, seriously funny moments throughout, and lots of dirty delicious steam. That's the kind of romance I love most and Blake and Vance are the kind of couple I love most. I want to read much, much more about these two, and am now hoping that Blake's bestie Margot gets her own story because she is as awesome as Blake.

‘I’d wanted the woman since I’d first laid eyes on her on a casual Friday. Somewhere over the course of the past six months, every little encounter we’d had, every ridiculous story I’d overheard her tell Margot, every unnecessary, long-winded word she’d used to insult me, had me infatuated with her.’

Meet Hate Love by Stevie J. Cole is just what we needed and quite different from what we’ve read from this Author before. It was hilarious swoony fun with a fabulous and entertaining storyline and wonderful characters we fell in love with. We honestly couldn’t stop laughing, many times out loud as we read with perma grins on our faces. It was hilarious steamy fun with situational comedy that tickled our funny bone all the way through. Bloody hilarious in its own addictive, ridiculous, and bizarre way which felt unique and was so well written!

‘Blake was practically a living, breathing omen of bad luck and misfortune, and I was about to be joined at the hip with her and all her bad juju for fourteen days.’

Blake is adorably eccentric and the situations she gets herself into are just too much but in a good way! Calamity Blake more like. Her banter with Vance and her bestie, Margot, is spot on and had us chuckling out loud. Blake has a real issue with Vance her annoyingly attractive and dry humoured work colleague who has a tendency to hijack her assignments as well as her thoughts and saucy fantasies. But when he tells her in a heated clinch that he heard she’s easy, the gloves come off. Even worse when he swipes her Paris trip from under her nose, a work assignment that was meant to be her eat, pray, love moment, Blake’s had enough. Blackmail shenanigans commence with a travelling pierced peen and together they fly on a ’how to survive a trip with your nemesis’ holibobs. We all know how this old chestnut will turn out right? Well, the way in which Stevie J Cole wrote Blake and Vance’s story felt refreshingly unique and without question turned out to be one of the funniest rom-coms we’ve read in a while.

Blake: In order to keep things from being weird, I booked a different hotel.
Me: You realize this makes it extra weird, you weirdo?

What starts off in Blake’s mind as a hate-hate relationship soon turns into a hate-love, enemies to lovers, work romance with a sexual tension you could cut with a knife, and a fiery and steamy passionate affair. Oooo la la…Vance…..no way we could resist him either. Je voudrait un grande baguette avec Vance….Our French sucks but if you know…you know!

‘Sure, he could whip up a witty line of dry sarcasm about cheddar cheese, but Vance was the guy I fully expected to grow old and yell at kids for riding their bikes across the corner of his pristine lawn, not have a pierced dick he paraded around like the Olympic torch on a Lonely Fans account. This could not be real life.’

Stevie J Cole really outdid herself with Meet Hate Love, she managed to cheekily give a nod to ‘book moments’ we love but would be utterly ridiculous in -real- life and she wrote them in such a witty and clever way. She nailed the balance of heat and comedy and wrote a story and characters that had depth, personality, and a strong passionate connection. Every romcom book lover should one-click this beauty and prepare for one hell of a crazy-arsed ride that’ll have you laughing, shaking your head, cringing, fanning your face, and falling hopelessly in love!

‘Seemed she liked long-haired bad boys who would use a gun to get her off and make her call them Daddy? I had a lot to live up to.’

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

I hated Vance Morgan, my arrogant office mate, more than anyone in the world. And yet, there I was, on a Paris-bound flight, cramped in the small space by his six-foot-four, arrogant frame. And why? Because after the sexy, thieving bastard stole my dream assignment, I found out he had the on the Lonely Fans page. One dedicated to pictures of his man-meat-stick in front of world monuments. So, I did what any rational woman in my situation would do. I blackmailed his hot, article-swindling butt. The problem was, he blackmailed me right back. And thanks to him and his can't lose attitude, we ended up stuck together, traveling around Europe while coming up with tips and tricks on how to survive vacationing with someone you hate. Easy. Like I said, I despised the man. Or at least I thought I did... After a few days of tiny hotel rooms and steamy tension, everything between us came to a head-a really, big massive, enticing head. Now the only tip I'm desperately seeking is how to survive falling for my used-to-be enemy.

This is the funniest book I have read in a long time. It is a office romance that will have you busting out loud at times. This is the story of Vance and Blake. they have worked together even sharing a space beside each other but have never really taken the time to get to know each other. A miscommunication the previous year ended up with Blake punching Vance and everything just went down hill for him after that. Now Blake is about to go off to Paris for an assignment and it is in the same time period as her sister and her ex boyfriend engagement party. Needing to get away she is excited about it until the assignment is taken from her and given to wouldn't you know it, Vance. However if he thinks she is going to take this injustice he has another thing coming. Blackmail is the name of the game and now it has earned her a trip to Paris right along with him. Now it turns into a can you travel with someone you hate report back on it. They spend all their time together including the same room, meals and the sites they go to see. Before long the dynamic between them begins to change. What will happen between these two on this dream trip where anything goes? You have to read to find out but I can promise you that everything that goes on is hilarious and I just loved this book so very much.
