Whipped by Eliza Gayle is an exciting and titillating romp into the world of BDSM and fetish clubs. This is not a book for the closed minded or those looking for a sweet boy meets girl romance. This is a book full of steam and hot, hot, hot. The reader must be open to public flogging as a sexual and emotional release.
There is so much detail that the reader is immersed in the underground world though I will admit to needed to Google a few things to make sure I understood what was being talked about.
Told completely through the POV of Walker, we see a Dominant’s perspective and needs, though Cass is expressive enough that we know pretty much what is going on in her mind, at least by the end. Part of what I loved about this book was watching Walker get Cass to open up to him in every way you can think of, as well as get her to trust him.
I am thrilled to have discovered a new author to read and I look forward to reading so many more from this author in the future. If you are curious about the world of subs and Doms this is an excellent step into the world.
In Whipped, we meet Cass, who comes to Purgatory to get what she needs and leaves. No one knows exactly what happened in her past, but it's clear to some - Walker especially - that there's a deep hurt there that he wants to soothe. Recovering from a bad relationship, Walker knows as soon as he spots Cass' session with Dex that he has to have her.
Of the three books in the series so far, this one suffers a bit when written as such a short story. It would have been better, IMHO, if we'd had a bit more history and time to get to know the characters. Some of the story felt a bit rushed and abrupt, but, in the end, it was nice watching these two find someone who could give them what they long for in a partner.
This story was a bit sad. I like the premise of the book, and the characters. It's short so there is little space for a y thing but the action! I love that!
Walker has been searching for that extra “something”. As a Dom at club Purgatory, he often takes a little subbie to play with but, recently, this hasn’t been enough. One night Cass walks into Club Purgatory to play with his friend Dex and everything changes. Cass turns up to the club once a month to get what she needs, but after a particularly nasty breakup from her Master, she is trying to withdraw from the lifestyle. As a former 24/7 slave, she was left in freefall by the horrible way her former Master left her. The last thing that she needs is to put herself back into a position like that but something about Walker draws her in. Can she let go of her hurt feelings and give love another chance? On the other hand, will she be try to be satisfied with her floggings once a month and move on?
So the whole reason I picked up the series was for this cover, it’s just so darn pretty! That aside I really enjoyed this addition to the series. Walker surprised me; when we first meet him I was much more taken with Dex, but by the end of the tale boy did he grow on me! He is needs more than the D/s play he gets at the club and he recognises that same need in Cass. He pursues her with a relentless intensity that made me smile and his arrogance was really quite charming (No, I don’t know why I find these characteristics charming either!) Cass is a scared little rabbit but I felt a little proud of her achievements in this book. This is the only addition where I have seen actual character development, which is a real credit to the author considering the size of the novel! The sex scenes are hard, fast and dirty; the desperation that these characters feel towards each other is really well described. If I had a “mad monkey sex” shelf on GR, this would be placed on that but I do not so I’ll stick to “hot”! BDSM wise, the sex is really quite mild, but the emotional implications of the characters needs are really quite daunting; I enjoyed the fact this author stayed away from the toys of the trade and stuck with the feelings behind the BDSM scene.
A fabulous addition to the series, complete with desperate down and dirty sex and emotionally tortured characters!

I totally enjoyed the first 2 books in this series and was looking forward to reading this one. I wasn’t disappointed. One of the things I liked about this book was it was told in the Dom’s point of view.
Walker has been a Dom on the hunt for that someone special, his own Submissive. He was grown tired of Playing. He needs something more, someone he could have a deeper connection with. Everything changes one evening, as he is playing with his friend, Dex. In walks Cass. Dex informs him that Cass is recovering from a bad breakup with her Dom. She was a 24/7 slave and her Dom just disappeared without a trace. Cass only comes to the club once a month, to fulfill her need. That’s it. Nothing more is known about Cass.
Walker knows he has found what he is looking for, but can he convince Cass of the same thing?
As with the first two books, while a tad longer, this is still a short story. What was different about this novella compared to the other two this one had real character development. And of course the sex scene were smoking hot.
I think Whipped is my favorite book so far in the Purgatory series.
I don't really know how to review this short story other than to say I am confused. It started off so strangely and ended very abruptly. Both MC's were looking for a new partner at their local BDSM club (unbeknownst to themselves) and they end up catching each other's eye across from across the spanking bench and yadda yadda. In 70 pages, two lonely, tortured souls find each other and meet in fits of passion. It had no real plot or story structure at all. I only gave it 2 stars because the male MC was pretty sexy but that's it.
The 'Purgatory Trio' of short stories are very well written BDSM erotica.
They are basically BDSM scenes that involve members of the Purgatory Club. The stories are well constructed and meet the challenge of short story writing.
The other two books are: Watch Me Hide and Touch Me, Tease Me, Whip Me.
Well what's a girl to say? When a girl has needs she seeks ways to have them fulfilled. Even if it means going against the mortal coil. She will continue to seek fulfillment until she can find her ultimate release! Cass is broken yet strong and knows just what she wants and seeks that out as needed
This is the second book from Eliza Gayle that I've read, and I was disappointed. Unlike "Displayed" the characters seemed a bit drab and the sex scenes weren’t particularly good. But seeing as this is a short story and there's not much space for character development, I'll add one more *.
I know novellas are suppose to be short but dang. Walker and Cass' story is short and sweet. Both with broken hearts that are mending but Waller is determined to heal Cass' heart so she can be claimed.
I love when a man is persistent in his pursuit for a woman he knows will change his world. This story was about more than just BDSM play but about trusting again and trusting in what you want and not denying yourself of that want. I am turning into a true Eliza Gayle Fan!!
