BURNING BRIGHTAs Aoba travels the Story World in search of answers, she and Red Riding Hood encounter a new Protagonist who offers them their most heartfelt dreams in the light of a burning match. But what Aoba learns about the fate of all Protagonists is far more devastating.
3,5/5. Entertaining. I enjoy reading it, but i was out of it for a while between vol. 3 and 4 so I had some difficulty at first to jump back in, maybe this is part of the reason I wasn't fully invest in it, but still fun!
This was not my favorite volume, but I still appreciated the story immensely. We need these to continue so that Aoba can be found. I seriously loved his character!!
I know it’s been 2 years in the making, but I hope we don’t have another 2 before we get Volume 5.
As Aoba, now teamed up with the present Red Riding Hood, is making their way to the destination believed to be where Red can find the person she seeks at last. However as she she has been sharing information with webmaster Fukushige others that share her burden as protagonists are learning and some are dangerous (as seen by Peter Pan last volume) as the fear inspired within some of them can lead to real problems for others. As the story progresses Fukushige meets more protagonists in the real world and Aoba is able discover some new truths of her own thanks to the far more experienced Red Riding Hood and a gentle Match Stick Girl.
By the way at the end of this volume you see the profiles for Urashima Tarou and Kawada-sensei and although I would prefer a character guide/story recap (especially considering it was 2 years to get to this book) the little extras at the end are nice touches to make the characters seem a little realer. Not all of the characters profiled are protagonists and unfortunately they are split among the books but they are still nice to see. :)
I can't wait for you all to read this next volume in the FTBR saga! I had a fun time translating it, and after waiting for two years for it to come back from hiatus, I discovered I'd missed it more than I thought I did. I'm glad Aoba and the gang are back, and I think y'all are gonna love this next installment.
It took three volumes to get me interested and volume to confuse me all again. At least this time I am enjoying the confusion. We find out how long Red Riding Hood has been in the land of fairy tales, meet some new characters, and find out that even adults are susceptible. Overall a good book, but I hope I don’t have to wait a year for book 5.
Honestly, I feel like the time has passed too much for this manga to be one I can get sucked into. The story’s a bit of a mess, and the intrigue with the premise has run thin, at least for me.
