Edna and Gertie Simmons live a leisurely life, and as they have aged into their seventies, their thirst for adventure has slowly diminished. However, when Edna finds that her briefcase, containing some of her most sentimental pieces of jewelry, has vanished, she contracts Gertie to go on an unforgettable journey to locate it.

She began writing at a young age, inspired by a book she found in her local library written by a fellow eight-year-old. That early moment of discovery sparked a lifelong passion that has guided her creative journey ever since.
When she’s not writing, Nicole enjoys cooking new recipes, exploring new places through travel, and spending quality time with her family. Her stories are rooted in experience and imagination, making her voice both grounded and uniquely engaging. Whether penning a slow-burning romance or a thrilling mystery, Nicole Higginbotham-Hogue invites readers into worlds where love and intrigue go hand in hand.
Edna is concerned that her jewelry case and all her jewelry are missing. She had taken it out to show Bonnie, however, had dragged it to numerous other places. She explains to Gertie that “the events were muddled in her brain.” Gertie attempts to retrace Edna’s steps with her, and experience unusual and unexpected results. I enjoyed the banter between Edna and Gertie as they try to solve this mystery.

Gertie and Edna are so flipping hilarious! The way they go back and forth with each other, definitely an old married couple! The stuff they got into in their search for Edna’s briefcase was beyond amazing. Climbing a fence and running away from people, at their age…I wish I was able to do that and I’m much younger then they are. So much fun!
