What do you do if the love of your life sends you on a quest, after she dies? Porter Hamlin walks through a small town filled with friends, and he has never felt more alone. His wife's untimely death has left him heartbroken and hopeless, but his life is about to take a turn toward the incredible. After 30 years of happy marriage, he was sure he knew everything about Alice. Then her last will and testament emerges, one he knew nothing about. The bequeath? A sequence of cryptic letters delivered at precise dates and times. Love letters with meticulous instructions for navigating events that haven't even happened yet. Love letters that will drive him into a quest. A quest for what? The letters don't say, but then a "helper" arrives on the scene. She claims to be Alice's sister. Except Alice didn't have a sister. The strangeness only grows. Porter has spent his adult life as the projectionist at an old theater called the Magic, the quiet counterpart to exuberant Alice. Now he must decide whether to embrace the path of the past--it may not be what he thought it was--or to step out of the shadows and fight for an unknown future. Grit, faith, and a lot of love will be required to create the magic necessary for success in a story where nothing is as it seems. Bestselling Author Anna del Projectionist will grab you from the start and keep the pages turning in a fresh, original journey that combines adventure, romance, mystery, and magic for the perfect weekend read. Fast, crisp, and sweet, the novel intrigues, enchants, and rewards from beginning to end. This book from Jerry Hatchett, who typically writes technothrillers, surprised me because Hatchett pulls off a seemingly impossible task: taking the time-travel concept and adding completely new twists on it. I've read my share of time-travel stories, so I went into this one skeptical that he would be able to entertain me in any meaningful, new way.

Boy, was I surprised to find that I clearly had more to learn about time-travel. :)

I won't say too much, to avoid any spoilers, but parts of this felt like Back to the Future III and other parts reminded me of 11/22/63 -- in terms of clever spins and ambiance. But Hatchett goes beyond both of those into his own territory. And the best part is that he takes us with him.

GREAT, fast read (because you'll keep telling yourself, "One more chapter.... Gotta see what happens next!")!

ENJOY!

What a story, totally something different! I had quite the time paying attention to where we were in time as each chapter began. There was a couple of moments where I thought of Groundhog Day. This may not be everyone’s up of tea but it was sure mine. Going back in time, time travel, opens up a whole world of possibilities and I enjoyed Porter’s ripples where he causes changes in the future with his actions. Then how he has to find his way back there to correct them. Nice finding a daughter for an ending. 5

Excellent story.

I love a good story. Not just a good book. This is a good story. It’s a good book too. It is well written and the characters are wonderful! The tone (voice) of each character rings true. I fell in love with them. But the story was amazing. So nuanced and gripping. Great twists which I love too. I was actually thinking about the book while I was at work. Looking forward to reading it again in the evening. I didn’t want it to end but I could not stop.

Very worth the read

I thoroughly enjoyed this book.It is a very moving story with a number of twists and turns that keep you guessing. However the conclusion does a great job of tying everything together.
